I’m pretty sure your old video is what prompted me to subscribe. Unfortunately, that car ended up crushed in an EF4 tornado but there was every reason to believe I would need another bearing soon.

I have in the past seen chrome sockets 'let go' under duress with an impact gun... They usually don't do any real damage when they do. The lesson I learned as a young lad back in the early 70s is that a chrome socket can shed its chrome plating... and if you happen to be holding the socket in your 'other' hand when it does, that chrome plating that comes off is thin, sharp and strong like razor blades! Yeah, I sliced and diced myself good & proper just the one time. If I have to use a chrome socket on an impact, I also use a stout leather glove as well! What wonderful trolling there Eric! Whatever you post is worth watching. Congratulations for getting your braces off! It did such wonders for my kids I actually smiled when handing over the payments as they did a stellar job.
Since you gave us the quick tip on making an impact socket I'll give you one. Instead of making a notch in the puller or doing what you did by using a chisel to pound it out to remove it. Just use your grinder to remove about half millimeter from the outside wall of the cup and it will never get stuck inside again. I used a 1" wide bench grinder and just made 1 smooth rotation around the front edge and it was perfect since that's about as far into the hub it goes.

Thank you for excellent "real world" car repair work! It is "real world" to me as the amount of rust on that Toyota looks just how my wife's car looks. And it is just as fun to work on! Congrats on no braces too! Now you can resume eating taffy without worries. 😉
Congrats on the "braces-delete" she'll run a lot smoother now!
Not a mechanic here but I have taken old bearing outers and shaved their diameter down on the bench grinder to use to push new bearings in without the old bearing outer binding in the hole. Thanks Eric Love ya work, love ya outlook on things.
LMFAO!!!!! I love the free tip Monday socket conversion.
Honestly, I have never understood why people make a big deal out of chrome sockets being used on an impact. I've done it for years.
I have a whole drawer full of thin wall impact sockets. What a great tip!
Since I only just started watching you within the last 6 months, repeats aren’t the issue. I love how you troll haha
Thanks for the tip on how to make impact sockets - I'm going to make all mine impact now.
You made me spit my beer out when you painted that socket
You're a funny man, Eric. I do love that.
Glad to hear about your braces. The whole process had to be a struggle, ranging from discomfort and frustration to pain. On with life.
Always love the humour, makes the job go better, right?!
