Handyman Saitou is such a good show, the writer isn't afraid to give big flaws to every main characters and it shows why they need to be in a party together. Every single one of these characters are needed in the party so they can survive. Most of isekai stories in recent years have their party consist of an OP Protag that can do everything from magic, melee combat, crafting, healing, etc and then they added a weaker version of the protag that can only do 1 thing the protag can do. But it is different for Saitou, he is just a normal human being in another world, all of his skills are that we can also learn. But he utilizes his skills to such degree that he becomes essential in his party, and seeing him getting recognized for his hard work makes me feel happy too. Not to mention how the plot progression feels like a nuke when it's all connected.
Seriously, its such a good show. And understandably as a normal person in a world where people can do all this crazy shit he feels a little insecure about what he brings to the table but the show keeps going out of its way to keep confirming realistically just how valuable he is to the party. He's not a badass, he has no special powers, but he fills in not only roles other people lack but roles they didn't even know they needed.
I think the only major flaw it has is how... random the first few episodes are, which is completely accurate to the source material. I don't know if this is true, but the start feels like a mangaka writing random one-shots in a setting with occasional connections and sequels until he figures out an interesting central plot to center everything around.
Chillin' in my 30s has turned out to be surprisingly entertaining. The protagonist actually shows a maturity befitting a guy in his 30s facing a tectonic shift in the course of his life. There are also some trope subversions which have added to the quality.
it's also not an isekai even though it was called that in the video kinda prefer it over banished from the hero's party hopefully this one gets a second season like banished from the hero's party
I turned 30 last year and just got a knee injury from a little jump while training last night, it sounds like just the right show for me to watch while I lie in bed high on painkillers.
@@doenerusImagine you at your marriage. You gonn kiss ur groom on stage. But, the medicine keeping you a girl wears off! Instant bruh moment (gone gay gone sexual)
he carved his path while the other guy followed his wrath in the end though anyone watching realised both the characters were the same some time had passed, you could say the world had turned so many were burnt but neither character was held responsible
Handyman Saitou was surprising, in the first 3 episodes, it just looked like it was just gonna consist of one off stories and be a random gag type of show. How they brought it all together after that makes it feel they were just testing people with the 3 episode rule and gave the people who stuck with it a reward.
I'm really enjoying it, which surprised me as I thought the concept might be a little bland. I predict Saitou has some secret powers he hasn't realized yet.
most delay is due to covid. at least that's what it says, i dont mind delays, but putting it on covid is kinda sussy, but then, with the way japan do things its not surprising.
I appreciate the spotlight for The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague. The show is slow and "uneventful", but it is very cute and wholesome. One of my fav shows this season.
Love The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, it's like the best sweet guilt-free snacks you can have. Adult office-romance with no bullshit drama that just puts a big smile on your face. And that OP and ED! Bangers!
@@victini248the misfit of demon king academy's visuals were cut due to copystrike but the voice wasn't cut, it made the video a complete mess, due to that he had to reupload
I am unironically enjoying Campfire Cooking, for two very simple reasons. One: huge doggo eating good (voiced by Papa Bones no less). Two: smooth cooking animation. I actually like sitting down to watch cooking videos now and then, despite not being much of a cook myself. It's strangely endearing, even if the MC is a bit exasperating at times.
I remember being a kid and knowing allthe character names of each and every anime I watch. Nowadays I could barely keep up with the plot itself of some animes I watch let alone remember their names.
It definitely has Etchii parts, though most are just misunderstandings, but it is just incredibly Wholesome at the same time. Its also great that at its heart its about two Siblings building their Bond again after drifting apart. Being an Older Brother with a Younger Sister that I drifted away from for a long time, and recently reconnected, also helps me enjoy this.
Much like Interspecies Reviewers, it's one of those shows that everyone says is surprisingly good yet I firmly refuse to ever watch. (Not to say you shouldn't, it's just not my thing)
Glad to see tensai oujo getting some of the love it deserves, it's a first in isekais in a while with an actual likeable main character and PLOT that goes beyond fanservice (the anime is way more calm than the manga and even that's just some jokes here and there).
I'm glad some decent ones are making it, I need another couple seasons of Reincarnated as a Sword. But I would love to see The World's Strongest Reargaurd, Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling, Since I Was Abandoned After Reincarnating, I Will Cook With My Fluffy Friends, My Quiet Blacksmith Life in Another World and maybe Hell Mode, Forget Being the Villainess, I Want to Be an Adventurer!, Min-Maxing My TRPG Build in Another World, Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie, Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers... there is just so many good ones now I'd love seeing brought to life in anime form.
The surprise for me in the currently airing "isekai" is definitely Handyman Saitou. The first 3 episode test almost made me sleep on this thing, glad I stuck with it. I thought it was going to be just an episodic comedy that is forgettable, till episode 4 came and changed my thinking, and damn I can't believe I would find myself on the grips for a senile old man trying remember his memories.
As a massive fan of the OG trigun I went into Stampede with a bit of a mixed mind-set, but absolutely fell in love with it. Definitely my favorite show of the season
@@WhiteGinger10000 I kinda doubt that those people are actual fans of the original show. Or at least they don't love Trigun more than they love to hate on something.
@@youtubesucksbutts I'm an original fan, and I can see how other original fans may not like this adaption. It is a big change from the original, and the original's a masterpiece. Time and time again, media that's considered a masterpiece has been revisited and been hated for the interpretation not lining up with what older fans enjoyed. Even the Lord of the Rings movies have a lot of valid criticisms from the perspective of long time Tolkein readers, and they're considered masterworks of their own rights. Trigun Stampede is using a controversial animation style in going 3D too. That being said, I personally absolutely love the direction Trigun Stampede has been going. The fact that the characters have fluid animations that you rarely see in more traditional animation styles, everything is beautifully stylized, they put more of a focus on the hidden connections of characters to build the narrative earlier, etc. While 3D animation is controversial because of all the terrible 3D CGI, this is a clear example of where it's excels. It shows to me Studio Orange has some original fans working on the production itself.
@@DannehBoi90 I honestly was really worried when people were saying how bad at was after enjoying the 1st episode. I just think that some people just don't like it when things aren't done exactly the way they want it to be done. And honestly, it does get a bit hard to watch the original Trigun since I rarely watch anime from that time period so quite a bit hard to get adjusted to it.
I've followed Tomo-chan's yonkoma manga and really freaking happy that it was adapted. The manga is such a genius for being so funny despite the limitations of a yonkoma and now the anime is being handled perfectly. The comedic delivery is spot on!
"anime is being handled perfectly. The comedic delivery is spot on!" Not quite. Some content had been outright cut, and some scenes were re-arranged in a way that the jokes from manga no longer work. Like the story of Carole's mom was entirely cut.
@@Shajirr_ wasn't carol's mom's story later in the manga? i get what ur saying but anime productions rearranging scenes (especially flashbacks) isn't unheard of
@@blazi7560 some minor example - Jun talking to Carole about something, then tells her to get out of there first - next panel revealing that she was speaking from his locker in the changing room. In the anime, we see that Jun is in the changing room right away, thus removing much of the joke. When they met Carole's mom, anything referring to them mistaking her for Carole's sister and then Tomo trying to calculate their ages only for Misuzu to stop her was cut.
Unsurprisingly with just how many isekai anime airing now as there is, isekai shows are actually carrying this season (at least among new shows). I'm not even a big isekai fan, but magical revolution, amazon prime the anime, stardew valley simulator, and handyman saitou are all legitimately some of the best new shows this season. It's not the highest quality season, but there's a LOT of decent shows to discover.
Campfire Cooking is more popular than it has any right to be. Aside from the cooking aspect of the show there's nothing whatsoever that stands out. 7 episodes in and no captivating story arc was introduced. I'm glad Garnt didn't talk about it longer... Eminence in the Shadow is another case of "why is this popular?" That crap has about as many followers as Spider. Negativ statements aside, there are several series of interest this season like Bungou Stray Dogs, Trigun Stampede, Nier Automata, To Your Eternity, High Cards, and even kind of The Fire Hunter. Recommendations: Back to isekai, it's unbelievable to me that none of the *good stuff* seems to ever get an adaption. While I love Slime, by no means is that adaption or the series a masterpiece in any stretch of the imagination. The three isekai novels I'm currently reading could wipe the floor with the existing ones: The Beginning After the End, Supreme Magus, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. ORV alone is actually different from all isekai I know with a setting unlike any other, unfortunately the writing isn't perfect because it had to be translated from Korean into English first. TBATE and SM are especially well written, while SM is very long winded with many unnecessary parts that can be skimmed through or skipped entirely. Still highly recommended though. TBATE is about an orphan who becomes king in a world similarly advanced as ours, except they also have Chi, in order to avenge his "mother", the head of the orphanage, who was assassinated by an assassin from a foreign country. After wasting his life in solitude, raging war against other kingdoms, and getting killed or whatever (hasn't been told yet) he gets reincarnated as Arthur Leywin. From then on a similar story to Mushoku Tensei unfolds. If the two deviate from each other later on I don't know, since I only read TBATE and have only seen MT's anime. There's more to his past as orphan, but it would be a huge spoiler. Best elements = • the writing • story told from different perspectives • the protagonist • high stakes • no harem The MC in Supreme Magus, Lith, is seriously messed up but for quite a few good reasons, in a much different way than Rudeus from MT. His character can be considered as neutral-evil, similar to Ainz Ooal Gown. So, long story short: Growing up in an abusive family, the boy Derek Esposito let's his father die when he doesn't warn him about the polished hallway and stairs in their apartment building. After the father dies Derek has to take care of himself and his dear younger brother, until his brother dies by the hands of a Hit & Run. From there it only gets worse. Derek is then after years of living alone I believe diagnosed with cancer, so as his last act in life he hunts down the killer of his brother, let's him suffer as long as his brother did in the hospital before killing him, and finally Derek commits suicide. Unlike pretty much any other isekai protagonist, Derek Esposito as Lith has a real goal in this new world that is linked to his existence as a whole. Telling more would again be a big spoiler. The 3 (!) prologues are mandatory and a telling sign of how long the entire series is... Or I guess many isekai are. Best elements = • no harem although several love interests + one serious relationship/romance much later • world building • ruthless world if you're into that • amazingly complex and detailed yet thoroughly well explained magic system • tons of very unique and distinct creatures all with their own ancestry, history, characteristics • few but likable characters • hatable characters such as _many_ According to word of mouth, Mushoku Tensei is beyond all of them, but if the novels are like the anime I'm very skeptical about the truth of this statement. Putting your trust in isekai fans is not usually... ideal... anyway, even though I am one myself.
@@officialnoonon my man really writing an essay there. I didn't read all of them but the reason why Amazon prime the anime is popular is because the food looks so damn good and the story is pretty chill
Reasons *Handyman Saito in Another World* is my Isekai of the season: 1) Refreshingly Trope-less - Other than Truck-kun, no harems, no demon lord threat, no slavery, protag skills are practical but not OP, etc. 2) Characters are well written and genuine - Character roles are RPG staples but their personalities are unique and well written, and very fun 3) Story Telling - starts out like a different anime, can be jarring at first, but does an excellent job introducing all the characters and explaining their personalities w/o needing to spell anything out, then fuses all together into a more consistent coherent plotline that handles a large cast quite well IMO. 4) Funny - It's funny. 5) ED is a banger - That piano is fire.
Reborn to master the blade and Magical Revolution have been very big surprises. I'm by no means an isekai connoisseur but it's really nice to have some shows that are just fantasy and not "videogame logic in a world that isn't a videogame :)".
@@DKHZStudio depends on how you define it, I guess. Yeah it's technically the same world, but so much time has passed that it doesn't really resemble the world she used to know, so for all intents and purposes it might as well be a different world. Magical Revolution is the opposite, it's technically an isekai but it's completely irrelevant to the plot, so it might as well not be an isekai.
@@elifia its either an isekai or not,, or if the fantasy character comes to earth is reversed isekai. just because a character is reincarnated doesnt mean its automatically an isekai. its like saying psycho pass is isekai cuz he goes to different time lines
@@bloodnessx Practically, isekai is one of the genres much broader than its namesake. There's "technically" isekai, which would be a lot of the generic stuff, but more importantly, Spirited Away, Digimon, Iruma-Kun etc etc falls under "technically Isekai", but that's not their point nor vibes, they're just shows that happens to be isekai. Then there's "technically not" isekai, like Reborn to Master the Blade and Ningen Fushin, or last years' Kicked from the heroes Party and I'm Quitting Heroing and a whole lot of other shows I've forgotten about, but they're totally isekais because they hit those tropes and theming that makes it "obviously" isekai.
The fact that you didn’t mention Kaina of the Great Snow Sea makes me a little sad. It has one of the most captivating and alien settings I have ever seen, with a great soundtrack, gripping plot, and relatable characters.
Yea i am worried his joke summary will repel ppl from watching the show and make it sound like pure wish fulfillment. Like YES the set-up is VERY convenient but everything about how their relationship has developed has had a natural order. Despite the bio and Gigguk's comedic summary, she's not just some nice, subservient girl who immediately starts catering to a loser next door because he was nice to her once.
@@Mellow_Yellow13 yeah the protagonist is fucking rock solid as a person. He deserves to have an adorable waifu, unlike these isekai protags that get them as door prizes every time they enter a building.
it's also important to note that she is someone who is viewed as an "angel" but not only does he treat her like a normal person, he does so while making it clear he expects nothing in return and will not burden her, making him the only person in her life she feels comfortable around.
It's been a while since I laughed this hard from an anime video, the "LockPickingLawyer in another world" was GENIUS and the fact that I could relate on the same way you thought of most animes I'm watching. Just found your channel but damn you are some funny dude.
Exactly. He seemed less handyman and more lock picking. Sure he used a leather sewing kit. But that's an obscure unpopular hardware item in the first place.
The Fire Hunter is my hidden gem of the season. Unique visual aesthetic, good pacing, and a nominee for next year's 'protect at all cost' category. Kind of quaint, and a little bit of animation jank (probably from stretching the already thin animation budget). But that only adds to it's charm for me. Too bad it's not getting any attention. (BTW best opening and ending of the season EASILY as well)
The plot is engaging and interesting, without being overly convoluted. The voice acting is really solid, too. The production values, however... make it hard to recommend to anyone that isn't a die-hard anime fan.
I think it has to be one of the best examples of the 3 episode rule working as intended. I was really on the fence about the show until episode 3. That episode we got an excellent serving of worldbuilding that really fleshed out what exactly was happening and where the story was going, and I've been hooked ever since. Cannot recommend it enough.
Gosh I always feel lost after the new season drops and I haven't finished watching the last season... but your videos get me revved and ready to tackle the challenge every time! Love this breakdown series so much! Thanks for going the extra mile to creat these!
This season has been a season of *WHOLESOME ROMANCE ANIMES!* - Ice Guy & her cool female colleague - Endo & Kobayashi Lives - Kubo San And above all of them, "Angel next door spoils me Rotten" "The Angel Next Door Spoils me Rotten" anime adaptation has been quite rushed compared to LN but still it has been my first 10/10 romcom in a very long time. That's the kind of wholesome romance series, we deserve as an anime fan, moreover the dialogue exchange between the main caste has been pretty natural for the high school kids while still being able to give you those sweet moments (sweet enough to cause you diabetes XD), It must be one of the best execution of "Popular girl falling for a plain guy" genre without relying on tropes except the premise itself
And I really do Love the Main Charakter. I found my self smiling the whole time for like 7 Episodes straight when I got up to date with the Anime. And now I am reading the light novel and I must say that the charakters are pretty complex Feeling wise. At least more than what is portrait in the Anime.
Kubo san really is wholesome. She isn't Takagi and her teasing is more pulled back. And Shiraishi's design was definitely intentional, as he's literally a character that fades into the background.
@@Joshiki_not really, I feel like it is a bit rushed, they definitely missed out on some potential drama, but I haven’t read the source material, so idk. We are only halfway through, it’s entirely possible their is a small drama plot arc towards the end. Overall though, it’s been pretty wholesome and simple, which is contrast to the recent years’ romance anime that have been trying to put stupid twists on the same copy and paste plot: what if the female lead looked like a girl, what if the female lead has obnoxious badonkers, what if the female lead was taundere that bullied and teased the male lead, what if the female lead had a cosplay hobby, etc.. I’m not saying these anime are inherently bad, but they lack that debt and/or focus that Toradora and Golden Time have; Angel isn’t trying to pretend to be some romance with a twist, it’s advertised as a wholesome anime with an underlying drama subplot, which I genuinely enjoy I contrast to how dumb the tomo-Chan anime is.
@@notationmusicalhonestly, romance anime this season are actually some of the while, likable characters and less gimmicky plot points. Shiraishi is unbearably dense, but his self esteem is also unfathomably low, so it’s understandable.
@@hassathunter2464 yup, I thought he was going to bring up My Life as Inukai-san's Dog at that part of the video, but instead he just started talking about 2B again...
I was just wondering today when Garnt was going to release his Winter 2023 in a Nutshell video, and man I was not disappointed. Thank you, Garnt! I always look forward to these videos every season.
Once again, no mention of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea. What did that anime do to you? It's by far one of the best to come out this season and it's criminally underwatched (as evident by Gigguk skipping over it twice in his videos despite originally saying it looked interesting). From its incredible worldbuilding to its amazing background art and music, watching Kaina is an experience. It's my #1 blind recommendation of the season.
I was really surprised by how much I ended up liking Tenten Kakumei. It's just a really solidly written fantasy story with an incredibly charming protagonist who just so happens to be lesbian. Anisphia is just a joy to watch and the character dynamics in that show are incredibly entertaining. The anime starts rushing quite a bit after episode 4 but it's still good, though I would definitely recommend reading the manga afterwards.
Agreed. Started watching today due to first episode having the protag act like an absolute gremlin, in a good way. Now I'm at episode 8, and hate having to wait for more.
The Manga is more of a comedy and exaggerates things a lot more, while the Light Novel is more serious and dives more into the world building and magic system, and also the characters. The Anime is like a combination of both of them, but it's more an adaptation of the LN. The Anime is already past the Manga so I recommend picking up the LN if you want to read ahead. The Manga has nice art tho so check it out too.
@@neidhardt8093 The manga still goes a lot more in-depth than the anime. The latter completely skipped over the explanation of the magic system, for example, which was just a stupid decision considering how important it is to Anisphia's core motivation as a character and the cause for plenty of conflicts in the story. The manga has also has _nailed_ every single emotional scene so far, like when Euphie broke down and requested that Anisphia give her a purpose, something the anime unfortunately fell flat on. And the facial expressions in the comedic scenes are straight up Spy X Family tier lol. I would definitely say the manga is the most entertaining version of the story so far, but as you said it is unfortunately not complete yet. Can't say I like the writing style of the LN all that much so I'll probably just end up reading new manga chapters as they come out.
@@nineflames2863 well everyone have their own preference, i won't say which one is better. if one like LN okay, Manga okay, Anime okay. each have it strength and flaw.
Amazing video as always. I know you already watched a ton but I can really recommend getting back into Danmachi. It got steadiely better with every season after 2 and the current one many very well be the best show this season. And it just keeps getting better
Saving 80k Gold really blew me away with how much it feels like a literal fever dream. The pacing of both the plot and the dialogue feels like that way fever dreams just jump between settings and plot points with no coherence; the talking lucky-cat god-spirit-thing in a white void was surprisingly profound; the advice of the protag’s hallucination of her dead otaku onii-san is in-depth and presented in a didactic format despite being centered around some of the most disparate and complex topics known to man… It’s just buck wild, and while I wouldn’t say it’s *good* per se, the fact that it seems more concerned with just how far it can push the bounds of imagination than with its own quality makes me not care too much if it doesn’t make sense. I’m just along for the crazy ride; I don’t need it to be a masterpiece.
I had a similar feeling watching "I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss", where each episode feels like 3 put together but still doesn't feel too rushed, it's really strange but pretty good.
@@youtubearmy_bg8265 That's understandable. I quite enjoyed the pacing though, 1 season felt like 3 by the end. Really shows how much time is wasted normally in most anime, especially some of the recent ones.
The fact that it was translated by the same guy who did the same authors other works (making potions! and abilities average!), does not help the coherency of the story either. He was... decidedly not good(tm) at what he was doing, and eventually caused me to drop all three novels as a result. (To be clear, as all three novels has been passed around a lot, I am referring to a particular one. Think it was the 'estellion' one as they has held all 3 projects? Anyway, it's part of why it was so tragic I had to drop them, as I liked them quite a bit before that and gotten a fair number of chapters into the story already. Then the one picking up the mangas being similarly poor at english (might have been same guy?), meant they [the mangas] never got a better translation either as ppl avoid 'poaching' projects) Might watch the anime adaptations when they are completed tho. Would be nice to see the story when at least the english is coherent. Though I doubt a single season will catch up to where I had to drop them... :/ And iirc the later chapters of the mangas has been readable (though I dunno if it is because the tl changed, or if the tl just got better after 5+ years), so yeah...
i watched the first ep of The Magical Revolution and its actually good plot develops, the animation is good and a lot was happening. and the main character is the love child of chisato and luffy (chaotic, have the power to make you like them instantly, break through entrances and give "wrong place right time energy"
I'm really enjoying Campfire Cooking. I love all the meals Mukohda cooks. So here's some info based on common Isekai tropes Did the protagonist die and reincarnate? Nope. He was summoned. Is the protagonist a young man/teen? Mukohda is 27, so kinda young. Is he overly relatable/a blank canvas? Probably yes? I'm not a good judge of this sort of thing. Is he overpowered? In terms of combat prowess, yes and no. He himself is very weak. However, he has his familiar, Fel (formerly Fenrir). Fel will knock the head off any fantasy boss, especially when he's buffed up. Our protagonist's real power comes from his ability to summon food and ingredients and buff people up like crazy when they eat his food (because it's all "otherwordly"). He can easily double even Fel's stats. So, yeah, I'd say he probably is overpowered when you get down to it. Is there a harem or cute girls? Harem, no. Cute girls... I guess? There's a pouty goddess who wants to exploit him for his ability to summon sweets, but she hasn't appeared in person to him yet (the viewer gets to see her, though). There was also a fantasy party with a girl or two in the first two episodes that will probably come back. I mean I haven't read the source material, that's just my guess. They seem to be a bit of a chekhov's gun. Are there guilds? Yes. Our protagonist has joined both the Adventurers Guild and the Merchant's Guild. Is there a cute character with incredible power? Not yet, no. Did our protagonist want a fresh start in an environment where he can excel? Is the protagonist's previous life acknowledged? Mukohda hasn't talked much about what his life was back on earth (I think he was a college student because he had a school uniform, but wikipedia called him a salaryman), so it's hard to know if he's better off. He just rolls with it. Is our protagonist a 'nobody' becoming a 'somebody'? Mukohda is trying to keep a low profile. However, Fel certainly draws attention wherever he goes. So far, I'd say no. Are there classes and levels? Yes. Are there menu screens? Yes. Is the world a literal video game or from a video game? Nope. Is the title long? Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill? ...you tell me. Why did I spend as much time as I did writing this? IDFK.
I have read the novels... and he never gets a harem... he gets more op monsters ( no spoilers... what) . But the story is the same, no good or bad, just him coking and trying to avoid fighting when all his familiars are battel maniacs.
@Black Snow is true, but I can spoil u by telling that it is not becoming human. That is all I will tell u . But he will get more op monsters one in particular is Op .
11:56 This is mostly just due to Studio Bind, sure it’s suggestive but you didn’t realize how lewd it actually got when animated by the right studio considering how I pretty much turned a blind eye over most of the ridiculous scenes when I saw it through the manga I think Bocchi is another example where both medias(manga and anime) can give massive differences in experience
The ONIMAI joke about discord mod turning into his own profile picture made me laugh so damn hard! But yeah it's probably the show of the season no cap, I have no idea why I love it so much though
After reading some of the manga...WHAT THE FUCK? The animation is incredible, but the entire thing will put you on so many watchlists, you'll probably be nominated for an Oscar.
@@Ijustusethistocommentstuff I don't know about the manga but the anime was basically just a story of a guy struggling with life and identity but found himself and his place in the world after the sex change. Pretty wholesome even with the with the occasional panty shot. What's so different in the manga?
@@tobiaswedin One chapter has him, accidentally, to be fair, showing a middle schooler his hentai collection, and ending with the middle schooler groping his chest, and the girl liking it. Another has him in a hot spring with this same middle schooler, both of them with only towels on. All this, with a character that is presumed to be in his/her 20s. That is a 7 year age gap AT LEAST. I stopped at the hot spring chapter, so even I don't know the rest. Apparently, later on in the chapter, the guy regains just his dick.
@@Ijustusethistocommentstuff Both of those things were in the anime too but were done very innocently, and it was pretty obvious (at least in the anime) that it wasn't just his body that had changed but his brain too. The only thing left "male in his 20's" was the memories. Behavior, likes/dislikes and emotions slowly became one of a small girl. The brain had become and he/she accepted that it had become a young girl. What differentiated the anime from other gender bender anime was that it diverted from the normal "boy in a girls body" trope and made it about the struggle of accepting literally becoming a girl in every aspect of it. And aging the character down had nothing to do with lolicon stuff but was a way to give the character a "do over" in life.
@@tobiaswedin I can see that for the anime. I read the manga, and the only real hint his mind was changing at all was the chapter where he got amnesia. It did have some impact, but it was only 1 or 2 chapters before the weird scenes I mentioned, only like maybe 16-20 pages. It didn't feel like he grew too much. It could just be that the anime has way better pacing that makes the scenes seem less weird than in the manga.
I've been reading campfire cooking for a while. It's genuinely pretty cool, nice slice of life stuff with some interesting plot development and characters that are fun to watch interact, no idea what the anime adaptation is like but it's worth a look.
I'm so glad you make these videos, I never would have found out there was a second season of Bofuri. When I first watched it I figured it'd be a one and done season.
Studio Orange is legit so underrated. They already had bangers like Land Of The Lustrous and Beastars, and now with Trigun: Stampede, I'm really excited for what they have in store for the future.
The problem with trigun is that vash has only shot 1 bullet in 6 episodes. The visuals may be good, but the way the story and charaters are being treated does hurt the show a bit.
So true, the animation and sound design of fire hunter is way cooler than most shows that are airing. As for the story, its a novel adaptation so that shouldnt be a downfall..
Honestly, Danmachi S4 P2 and Bungou Stray Dogs S4 are currently among my favourites, just because the side characters are all getting glow-ups, instead of just dumping all the action on the main character. Very refreshing when other party members are useful in an anime.
I couldn't watch Danmachi after how much it changed past season 1, too much fanservice and filler. Does it ever pick up again? Been considering watching it again
@@creaketh I assume you mean you dropped it at season 2 where it's focused around the red light district? Imo that season was good. Season 3 was the worst one so far.
Not to mention how the plot progression feels like a nuke when it's all connected.
funny that its an isekai that *tries* to be different from the rest, yet its the least watched show. generic isekai has really rotten weebs brains 💀
@@bloodnessx lol, good on you man

Handyman Saitou was surprising, in the first 3 episodes, it just looked like it was just gonna consist of one off stories and be a random gag type of show.

Unlike Handyman Saitou where they're clearly adapting the manga in its published order, I had no idea Tomo-chan was a 4koma.
handyman is also one of the good ones this season. I like how all the pieces come together to tell a touching story
My favorite Isekai this season, and thats saying something cus of all the solid competition.
There's actually a precure season that's a reverse isekai.
Recommendations:
Back to isekai, it's unbelievable to me that none of the *good stuff* seems to ever get an adaption.
Best elements =
• the writing
• story told from different perspectives
• the protagonist
• high stakes
• no harem
The MC in Supreme Magus, Lith, is seriously messed up but for quite a few good reasons, in a much different way than Rudeus from MT.
Best elements =
• no harem although several love interests + one serious relationship/romance much later
• world building
• ruthless world if you're into that
• amazingly complex and detailed yet thoroughly well explained magic system
• tons of very unique and distinct creatures all with their own ancestry, history, characteristics
• few but likable characters
• hatable characters such as _many_
According to word of mouth, Mushoku Tensei is beyond all of them, but if the novels are like the anime I'm very skeptical about the truth of this statement. Putting your trust in isekai fans is not usually... ideal... anyway, even though I am one myself.
+1 for ORV really enjoying the read rn
@@officialnoonon my man really writing an essay there. I didn't read all of them but the reason why Amazon prime the anime is popular is because the food looks so damn good and the story is pretty chill
Your editing and use of anime characters saying lines from you or memes or whatever is brilliant and what keeps me coming back.
I love it that you incorporate current meme's into your anime reviews. The sniff sync or syncing of sniffing was a nice addition.
Reasons *Handyman Saito in Another World* is my Isekai of the season:
1) Refreshingly Trope-less - Other than Truck-kun, no harems, no demon lord threat, no slavery, protag skills are practical but not OP, etc.
2) Characters are well written and genuine - Character roles are RPG staples but their personalities are unique and well written, and very fun
3) Story Telling - starts out like a different anime, can be jarring at first, but does an excellent job introducing all the characters and explaining their personalities w/o needing to spell anything out, then fuses all together into a more consistent coherent plotline that handles a large cast quite well IMO.

@@CreativeInspireP380 i was going to watch fire hunter but then forgot about it. Now I remember again.
It may have a nice op and ed but my favorite op and ed of this season is onimai oh god they are sticky songs
The budget is essentially non existent in the fight scenes
Oh my lord, that pop tart discussion caught me _COMPLETELY_ off guard. Ah, my abs still hurt from laughing so hard.

@@titan_o7 Thanks! Somehow forgot about this part after watching the video
I love watching these videos. Its like a tradition at this point when a new season begins
Lol fr
Gosh I always feel lost after the new season drops and I haven't finished watching the last season... but your videos get me revved and ready to tackle the challenge every time! Love this breakdown series so much! Thanks for going the extra mile to creat these!
This season has been a season of *WHOLESOME ROMANCE ANIMES!*
- Ice Guy & her cool female colleague
- Endo & Kobayashi Lives
- Kubo San
And above all of them, "Angel next door spoils me Rotten"
"The Angel Next Door Spoils me Rotten" anime adaptation has been quite rushed compared to LN but still it has been my first 10/10 romcom in a very long time.
The angel started good, now it's like every other mediocre romcom: flat and boring
I'm surprised he didn't talk about the anime where Main character turns into a dog and put in lewd situations.
I know in the first upload he did talk about it a little bit don't know if it's still here
@@ydowgen Just like 3 seconds in the opening, but that's it.
Surely it would have been a better segway for "is there no horn this season" than 2B...
These winter anime series are so far best i have ever seen. I am busy with watching 20 new anime series per week at the moment.
10:00 WTF, aaarrggghhhhh... it should have been me. Well back to fantasy world I guess
That yugi oh refrence fits perfectly
Once again, no mention of Kaina of the Great Snow Sea. What did that anime do to you? It's by far one of the best to come out this season and it's criminally underwatched (as evident by Gigguk skipping over it twice in his videos despite originally saying it looked interesting).
From its incredible worldbuilding to its amazing background art and music, watching Kaina is an experience. It's my #1 blind recommendation of the season.
Seconding kaina!!!!
It's so sad that no one is paying attention to that show. It's one of the few I'm looking forward to each week
Hikari no Ou (The Fire Hunter) is also great, although both have visual styles that can be off-putting to some.
Copium: He’s leaving it for its own video?
its mid.
Bruh that transition into Vinland Saga2 is pure comedy gold. Keep up the good work mate.
with number of shows currently airing, Gigguk is the real Anime-man
I love how I could feel the gay girls joke coming when Tenten Kakumei got focused
15:50 i commented it on the best of 2022 video and now it got confirmed (cant get it out of my head now -_-)
I was really surprised by how much I ended up liking Tenten Kakumei. It's just a really solidly written fantasy story with an incredibly charming protagonist who just so happens to be lesbian. Anisphia is just a joy to watch and the character dynamics in that show are incredibly entertaining. The anime starts rushing quite a bit after episode 4 but it's still good, though I would definitely recommend reading the manga afterwards.
after reading Manga, read ze LN. it also gud
@@nineflames2863 well everyone have their own preference, i won't say which one is better. if one like LN okay, Manga okay, Anime okay. each have it strength and flaw.
omg there is so much anime being adapted from manga ive been following for years. Its like, i raised that boy.
Handyman Saitou in another world has been my go-to isekai this season. Overall just feels very comfy to watch.
Amazing video as always. I know you already watched a ton but I can really recommend getting back into Danmachi. It got steadiely better with every season after 2 and the current one many very well be the best show this season. And it just keeps getting better

The editing is also really good
Ah you fixed the audio cheers dude
damn you the lucky one deffinetly not a bot telling you you won xD
how is he not talking about the eminence in shadow because it is one of the, if not the best show to come out this season
@@creaketh tried the first 3 episodes and it's way too boring and generic
You should read the light novel of saving 80k. It's so much better than the anime in terms of story content and world building.
Then the one picking up the mangas being similarly poor at english (might have been same guy?), meant they [the mangas] never got a better translation either as ppl avoid 'poaching' projects)
Might watch the anime adaptations when they are completed tho.
It is good for more reasons than just how unbelievably gay it is (which is of course a big reason)
I'm really enjoying Campfire Cooking. I love all the meals Mukohda cooks.
So here's some info based on common Isekai tropes
Did the protagonist die and reincarnate?

1:54 This is the most anime thing I've seen in a while. It's ridiculous. Looks stupid. I LOVE IT. Adding to watch list
It is a shame that he can't make anime delay jokes more than once since he is semi-working for Kadokawa.
11:56 This is mostly just due to Studio Bind, sure it’s suggestive but you didn’t realize how lewd it actually got when animated by the right studio considering how I pretty much turned a blind eye over most of the ridiculous scenes when I saw it through the manga
I think Bocchi is another example where both medias(manga and anime) can give massive differences in experience
It's pretty noticable he watched one episode at most of Onimai. Otherwise we'd have definitely seen some Kaede booba in the video.
you always manage to convince me to watch some anime that i thought i wont like but actually end up liking in the end THANK YOU
The ONIMAI joke about discord mod turning into his own profile picture made me laugh so damn hard!
@@tobiaswedin
One chapter has him, accidentally, to be fair, showing a middle schooler his hentai collection, and ending with the middle schooler groping his chest, and the girl liking it.
10 year anniversary of you're amazing recaps of anime every year and another year of you forgetting to add it to the playlists xD
I've been reading campfire cooking for a while. It's genuinely pretty cool, nice slice of life stuff with some interesting plot development and characters that are fun to watch interact, no idea what the anime adaptation is like but it's worth a look.
