      I mean I’ve read their wiki page before. This is just a quick link to it. What could possibly be wrong with the link? I especially love trying to poke holes and notice where the article is missing the truth (after all it’s just an encyclopedia). But it’s one of the first places I go to start research. Makes sense to me it would be linked here right?

    • @sammya1970
      @sammya1970 6 месяцев назад +11

      There aren't wiki links to so many other subjects on youtube despite their existence, that's because they want to add a cautionary refutation of the video and keep their own narrative of things and a link to it which you just also admitted was missing the truth. @@JackBlackNinja

    • @JackBlackNinja
      @JackBlackNinja 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@sammya1970 that’s every single wiki or any other encyclopedia. I wouldn’t worry about a wiki link dude. If anything it’s good. Might leave out 99% of information (as is again the case for every encyclopedia entry) but it has tons of good info. I would think every single RUclips video would benefit from quick links to wiki articles to get you started if you wish. But christ are you really against Wikipedia? That’s such a frightened take

    • @sammya1970
      @sammya1970 6 месяцев назад +1

      Not every wikipedia/encyclopedia just allows anyone with a login to add information. Not a frightening take, it's open source and you're naive if you don't think special lobby groups/orgs are paying media groups to post their own slant propaganda and the like. Surface-level platforms give you surface-level knowledge. Again there's my point about why certain subjects have wiki links and others don't, wonder why that is and where that decision is coming from. @@JackBlackNinja

      @@JackBlackNinjaI think its a difference of generations probably. When i was in Uni back in the early 2000 wiki was not approved, it had alot of questionable sources, anyone could write anything. It was shady stuff.
      It was the ChatGPT of our days with lots of content that had hallucinations. Lol.
      You'd get a fail if you used wiki stuff. If I recall properly there was even a Wikipedia checker because alot of students used to copy and paste.
      For that reason, people like me and my generations who went to university frown at the use of wiki as a viable source. It's a bias.
      I know alot had changed since then and. Alot of the younger generation rely on it for information.

I don’t think I have ever once read any source that couldn’t be wrong or incomplete. And wiki would never be a source anyone thought is a paragon of truth. But it’s an undeniably great encyclopedia. The first generation grows up hungry and poor so they work hard to make the money. The second generation gets to enjoy a life of comfort but doesn’t have the same drive. The third generation takes the wealth for granted and often squanders it, ending up poor again. Then the cycle repeats with the next generation.
