How To Bottle Tomatoes the Easy Way Using A Water Bath Canner

- Tomatoes are the easiest produce to preserve. Home bottled tomatoes are the secret ingredient in many Griffiths recipes. Store bought tomatoes in a can do not compare with home grown and bottled tomatoes. Today I show you how easy it is to blanch and use a water bath for canning. A water bath is just a big pot of water that you put your full jars in and boil.
This recipe and many others are available at griffithscookbook.com

Growing ups on a farm/rural has really given you great skills to pass on to your family. I loved seeing the canning process and all your tools to get the job done well. Yum!
Can't wait to try your tomatoe recipe looks great !!
I have your cookbook and love it! We love tomato’s 🍅. Lots of hard work but so worth it!!! Love your Family...Sending hugs, prayers and kindness. 💕👍🏼🙏🏼
When my dad makes homemade salsa with his garden tomatoes , he uses the knife to make an x mark on the bottom of the tomatoe and then puts it into the boiling water, then it pulls off quick and easy from the bottom
That's a good trick! Though from my experience, the skins also come off super easily without that. So if you ever want to save a little time, it will still work really well.
I could watch you cooking all day Jennifer💗
I, very simply, love you! please continue bringing us life videos. Would love more on cleaning routines, daily routines, everyday life issues. sadness, etc. Love from West Virginina

I just love love watching your shows
Lots of work but the reward is goood.🍅
I’ve never seen anyone buy all those tomatoes to can them before!! :) That must have been expensive. Is there a reason that you don’t grow your own anymore? I grew up in a family of gardeners, my parents and grandparents always did it. But I didn’t start gardening until I turned 40..lol I started off with 38 tomato plants, and just as many peppers, cucumbers, etc. I basically planted a salsa garden. Now I’m 50, and I’ve branched off into squash, beans, watermelon, and etc diff fun things, but I still grow lots of tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers. This was a horrible year for tomatoes, for sure!! I don’t can them, I freeze some. I did can some salsa in the past, but I just like freezing better..lol But you have an awesome system going there! Fun to watch! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless!! 🙏🏼
Jennifer you are such a blessing and a bright light in this world. Thank you for your channel and wonderful ideas.

U really are so sweet Grandma 👵, this beautiful process is so helpful! Yes very lucky to have a porch to put the propane burner out, it would really get hot inside the home bubbling away for an hour each time!
I find your videos so relaxing and comforting. Ive found myself rewatching videos on days im feeling overwhelmed. You are the mother and grandmother i hope to be :)
One of my fondest childhood memories is smelling hot tomatoes in the summertime. There were two canneries here at the time there long gone now. But back in the day no one had ac you’re ac was you’re bedroom window open at night. If you ask anybody 55+ and mention the hot summer tomato nights you will get an immediate smile on there faces.
I remember that well. We had a canning kitchen n our town also.
Pam Carballoca yes! The cannery was my first (job) at age 9 working with my family at the luncheonette for the employees, it was hot and fun; I loved every minute
Hi Grandma, I really hope that you are well. It's really good to see you
Yes, thank you

I just love all of your videos! Especially the cooking ones. It reminds me of my Grandma's cooking. Can't wait to see more!
Your house is so organized clean and shinning..😻😻😻😻😻
Every September, this was an all day event. I remember my mom and my grandmother doing this in our basement.
Brings back memories of helping my grandmother with her canning.
Raised my kids to pick tomatoes at the local farms near our home , it was U pick 10 cents a lb can you believe it! Back in the 1980s , we also hit the cherry orchards ( near Ogden Utah) all the fresh peaches in Utah are outstanding
I don't know much about bottling and preserving but this was so interesting to watch!
Thank you so much for this video! Honestly, I love ALLLL of your videos.!!!!
OMGsh. No wonder you are so fit, you don’t stop. I miss the Labor Day weekends at home with my parents canning tomato sauce watching the Jerry Lewis telethon. Thank you for bringing back great memories.
Thank you for this. You make it look so easy since you're so organized. I have always been so intimidated to try to can...but, now I feel I can do it! ❤
Go for it!
@greeneyed monster. I know your comment is a year old, but I really hope you ended up canning like you wanted to! I want to encourage you by telling you that I just canned (water bath) tomato soup yesterday, for the first time. And I am 62 years old!! Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can…..can!! Lol! Wishing you all the best!! (Check out Homestead Family YT channel. She offers a free class to learn to water bath can, starting with a Roasted Tomato Soup. She goes step by step, and it’s very easy. She is a Master Canner, so you can trust that you will be taught the correct way. Just like Jennifer does in this video!)

Thank you, that took me back to my childhood - I got to be the peeler and tomato stuffer, everything else my Mom and Gramma did, strictly. I did not help with any heating process. I remember Mom canning Vegi-Beef soup but didnt know what method she used. Thanks for letting me know in an earlier comment you answered of mine.
Awesome video. Very helpful and funny. Sorry about the vintage plastic bowl! Vintage is life. But new to canning, lots of great advice. Thx! 🇨🇦

Thank you so much for this video! I want to start canning but it’s always felt intimidating. Will you please post more canning videos? Or maybe one that shows different types of foods you’ve canned?
