This used to really scare me when I was younger especially the slogs, I loved every minute of it though. I'm pretty sure this and the following sequels why I love dark humour so much. The occasional messages you would see like "Nobody important ever died from a little hard work!".
This is definitely one of the best side-scrolling adventure games of all-time. It's absolutely brilliant. Had such a great time playing this as a kid. Really miss it now.
Wow, the amount of hidden areas in the first level that I missed back when I played this as a kid is rediculous! I found 1 or 2 of them, but never knew there was that many.
Hearing the ps intro brings back such good memories... I wish I still had my psone with dino crisis and resident evil 1-3 and syphon filter and metal gear... what happened to developers making good games??
Man, also when gaming was different from now. If you played games like this, you shared controllers with family and friends, cracked jokes, supported one another and totally had a lot of fun. Nowadays, kids wear a headset to play multiplayer games and curse at other kids.
snackflyer i think right after i posted this i went out and bought a ps1 for 20 bucks and i got all the resident evil games and dino crisis 1 and 2 and syphon filter 2 lol nostalgia is a bitch
I can’t believe I still come back to watch this long play series. I remember the countless nights I would put it on to go to sleep to. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and Exoddus were my first video games ever and the magic of these games are still fresh to me!
NOSTALGIA EVERYWHERE! Best game ever, and the environments were so beautiful even by today's standards. The mix of serious gameplay, intense moments, and dark humor blended to create a gaming masterpiece.
This brings back such good memories. I remember playing as a kid i didn't really understand it as much and i couldn't get very far but its crazy seeing how long this game actually is!
Yes man I was scared also it was realy scary for me knowing that they are gonna make meat of someone...And the whole atmospheric future thing, jesus those were good times, I wish I had a time machine to feel the nostalgia again
The most nostalgic part of the game for me is all the bright colours it has, particularly when escaping Rupture Farms for the first time to see the majestic purple, blue, green and orange night skies, or the luminescence of the bonus areas.
yeah me too. It's a harsh game with a hazardous world, and the ambience fortifies that... Too bad new n tasty doesn't feel as harsh, as if it was more... kid friendly. That was a mistake, the oddworld series shouldn't be too kid friendly.
I was 12/13 when this first came out, and all we could afford was a black and white telly for my bedroom, the bit where you have to tap the mines when green not red drove me insane! But I loved this game so much. Thank you for the longplay, I've just downloaded it to play on my Xperia Play, let the nostalgia begin!
I LOVED THIS GAME! I used to spend hours on it...of course I never got anywhere. But it was the experience that counted...AND THE MUSIC! Still gives me chills!
My childhood game :) thanks to amazon, I finally have it for the PS1 again! Question: does anyone know if Abe's slow responses are kinda normal to the game? (Example: I'm currently on the Scrabania level and every time Abe tries to turn on the bomb that flickers red and green to blow up a slig, he responds slow and I know I have to press ◾️while crouching). Anyone please help me out on that? It would make my day with this game easier!
Daniel Medina Yes, the slow responses are part of it. Abe has lots of frames of movement, this means lag upon starting up and ending animations, so yeah, you'll have to get used to it.
Just sitting here at a computer grinding my face away at an overwhelmingly mind numbing job, when I find this vid to take me away to a much simpler, enjoyable time.. Over an hours worth of solace - Thank you
I hate the bombs which you can stop by toughing them at the right time. They really should have thought about us colorblind because the only way to do it for us is by sound. Still a superb game though.
Considering that the sound does help your situation, all I can say is don't bitch about a game that's over a decade old for not taking a certain minority into consideration?
a joy to watch no inane commentary no presentation in a different language great to see all the hidden locations [ unknown to me lol ] an inspiration to dust down my copy and have another go nice one bruv
This was one of my first PSX games I ever played, I'm 23 now but used to be so scared of this game! lol got my first PSX on Xmas morning '95 with this, Alien Trilogy, Casper The Ghost, The Lost World - Jurassic Park and Rayman...those were the days! :D
I was born in 1995 and I was lucky enough to discover this game series playing it at my cousins house when I was 6. I remembered the game and I asked by dad to get it for pc. I remember playing it, it was such an amazing game. I remember watching abe run through the dark rapture farms wile getting chased by sligs, making my heart race at 100 miles an hour. Some scenes in that game was so intense wile playing. It sucks that no modern games are even nearly as good as Abe was.
This game has the most static screen as possible, yet it's so exciting. even watching you play is thrilling. It's more exciting than most games of today lol!
This game is one of the few games OR movies to ever scare me. Even when i was a kid i mean. It gave me so much anxiety just because of how threatening and raw the world was. Abe is just the most vulnerable and unprotected person ever and the constant near deaths would make my heart race. It was really a full experience and i loved it. I also think its one of the best playstation one games ever made and one of the best games flat out until that point and a little beyond. What they were able to do in such a short amount of time on their first try is nothing short of amazing. Bravo forever.
Ah, the memories. Loved this game so much when I was a kid although I never managed to finish it. Wonderful artwork and lovely musics. Not to mention the character! Absolute classic, reminds you why playstation was the best console at that time for a while.
You got me by a Year but I agree with you 100%, I Think about the good ole day all the time... These late 90s and 00s babies really missed out on a lot.
I remember playing this when i was around 7 years old. I remember listening to blink 182, playing with action man, lego castles, going to primary school with some crappy library book and not any sort of care in the world. Now i'm 21, in my last week of uni and looking out into the wide world. I still remember these times like they were last month, yet they are 13-14 years ago. Time to grow up.
Its all about being subjective, to me the 90's literally seem like yesterday. It makes me smile when I see you young folk talking about the "good old days". I used to think exactly the same as you but about those being born in the late 80s and 90s, as to me the 80s were the "good old days". ZX spectrum FTW !!! ;-)
my gosh, the memories this video brings me. i remember that i would have my friend come and sleep over, and he, my brother, and i would all try and get farther in the game. usually we'd end up helping my brother out while he had the controller. it was so much fun. now i have no idea where my game has gone :'(
yeah, i'm 18 now and this game always used to scare me as a kid, I could never play it alone but I just kept coming back for more. I miss it actually. And i'd probably still be scared by it too.
omg, i remember playing this game at 5-6 when it came out, one of the most fun games ever, and this brings basck so many memories from playing it back then ;)
In all my years, I had the most fun playing this game. I would come home from work at like 11:30 at night and play this 'till 4 in the morning. First time i finished it I got the bad ending...so of course i did it all over again saving more Mudukons so i could get the good ending. My favorite part was coming back to Rupture Farms, with that twilight dark blue sky. The creators were geniuses
This is the most disturbing game I ever played; the story line, the animations, the characters all blend into something I have not seen since. I absolutely love the feeling that comes over me when I watch the cut scenes, it's so earie and gives me a profound sense of hopelessness. The later games had nothing on this one; most under rated game ever.
I LOVE ABE's VOICE... it brings back Nostalgic memories almost as much as when I hear Sky Chase Zone's stage music from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Oh how I miss being a kid because having to work everyday sure can suck at times but hey you got to bring home the bacon one way or another right?
The greatest game i have ever played.I want to buy another PS1 just to play this again. Thanks for uploading although it took me about 2 months to complete not 2 hours, lol.
A truly gorgeous game, I mean as a kid I had no idea what kind of treasure was set before me. Blew my mind back then, this game was way ahead of its time. Kinda depresses me not being able to experience it nowadays, but I guess youtube will have to do...
i grew up playing this game....same with crash banda coot and twisted metal..and i just downloaded them of the pss network and i cant stop playing them!
Belive me! I played this in the age of 5 on the PS1 with my longtime best friend I have known for now 14 years... We are both 14. And dude, we freaked out at the intro man! xD Epic times man!
This used to really scare me when I was younger especially the slogs, I loved every minute of it though. I'm pretty sure this and the following sequels why I love dark humour so much. The occasional messages you would see like "Nobody important ever died from a little hard work!".
You mean Sligs
"Don't play with your food unless it plays with you first." 🤣🤣🤣
This is definitely one of the best side-scrolling adventure games of all-time. It's absolutely brilliant. Had such a great time playing this as a kid. Really miss it now.
I've been looking for this game for 7 years. I just found it today, and seeing it brings back so many memories-- I almost want to cry.
Wow, the amount of hidden areas in the first level that I missed back when I played this as a kid is rediculous!
I found 1 or 2 of them, but never knew there was that many.
I remember playing this when I was 8.
I sucked...
so many good memories from this amazing game
Hearing the ps intro brings back such good memories... I wish I still had my psone with dino crisis and resident evil 1-3 and syphon filter and metal gear... what happened to developers making good games??
They come out every now and again, but for the most part production companies (EA, Activision, etc.) are too afraid to take risks.
Yknow if you have a ps2 or ps3 if you still have some ps1 games you can play your psone games on the ps2 or ps3 definitely ps3
Man, also when gaming was different from now. If you played games like this, you shared controllers with family and friends, cracked jokes, supported one another and totally had a lot of fun. Nowadays, kids wear a headset to play multiplayer games and curse at other kids.
snackflyer i think right after i posted this i went out and bought a ps1 for 20 bucks and i got all the resident evil games and dino crisis 1 and 2 and syphon filter 2 lol nostalgia is a bitch
xHorizon31x The main reason I keep all my consoles, never know when nostalgia is going to rear its head.
7:52 Slig spotted Abe of saying “Freeze”
One of the best games of the '90s !
I can’t believe I still come back to watch this long play series.
I remember the countless nights I would put it on to go to sleep to.
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and Exoddus were my first video games ever and the magic of these games are still fresh to me!
Holy fuck i miss the days where i would play my ps1...
This and Abe's Exoddus are my favourite games ever! I just love'em! They're wonderful!
You're so good at this game, I remember having so much troubles playing it with my little brother as a kid, it was tooooo hard 'A'
i loved how the first playstation came on.. made me feel like i was stepping in magic
THIS GAME USED TO SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME
Played this back when it came out in '97, recently started playing it again for the PC. Major nostalgia trip. Classic game, never got old.
there were parts of this game i didn't even know existed. never knew you could save all 99 employees. haha great game
This game gets you thinking deeper than any test given by any teacher or professor. I love it
This game will be released again on ps4 and pc for the old timer fans!
NOSTALGIA EVERYWHERE! Best game ever, and the environments were so beautiful even by today's standards. The mix of serious gameplay, intense moments, and dark humor blended to create a gaming masterpiece.
this game was so damn hard thank god i had a strategy guide for it!
stranger's wrath was my intro to the oddworld games. I love the humor!!
Best game ever made :3 the memories :3:3:3
This brings back such good memories. I remember playing as a kid i didn't really understand it as much and i couldn't get very far but its crazy seeing how long this game actually is!
played with one ps1 when i was 5 ... scared the shit outta me ?
Same for me =D
Yes man I was scared also it was realy scary for me knowing that they are gonna make meat of someone...And the whole atmospheric future thing, jesus those were good times, I wish I had a time machine to feel the nostalgia again

Ur 5 minutes in and ur past tha bit that i could never get past hahaha
I used to LOVE playing this game as a kid. One of the best games I have ever played to this day.
Aww mann!! Game scared the shit out of me when I was little, but lots of good freaky memories
yeah me too. It's a harsh game with a hazardous world, and the ambience fortifies that... Too bad new n tasty doesn't feel as harsh, as if it was more... kid friendly. That was a mistake, the oddworld series shouldn't be too kid friendly.

I never managed to finish the game as a kid. Watching this makes me feel as if I was finally getting the missing pieces of a puzzle lost long ago.
aaaand 1:27:06, my butt clenched
a joy to watch
no inane commentary
no presentation in a different language
great to see all the hidden locations [ unknown to me lol ]
an inspiration to dust down my copy and have another go
nice one bruv
Remember the password: it's *whistle* *whistle* *fart*
This was one of my first PSX games I ever played, I'm 23 now but used to be so scared of this game! lol got my first PSX on Xmas morning '95 with this, Alien Trilogy, Casper The Ghost, The Lost World - Jurassic Park and Rayman...those were the days! :D
cubex is AWESOME.... you've brought back MEMORIES!!!! I sat here and ate popcorn watching you play!
I was born in 1995 and I was lucky enough to discover this game series playing it at my cousins house when I was 6. I remembered the game and I asked by dad to get it for pc. Seeing games like this makes me miss those pretty pre-rendered backgrounds in many ps1 games
A classic indeed!!!! It brings back memories on how I used to get off work and come home to play this!!!
old school! This is amazing :) What a blast from the past, thank you for this video :) x
Ah, the memories. Loved this game so much when I was a kid although I never managed to finish it. Wonderful artwork and lovely musics. Not to mention the character! Absolute classic, reminds you why playstation was the best console at that time for a while.
I used to get off work at 11 at night and play this till like 5 am. I've never enjoyed a videogame as much as this one.

Nostalgia is all I can say about this game. Oh, and thanks for the walkthrough, not only helpful, but memorable.
The box art used to freak me out as a kid. I got chills everytime I saw it.
man. this is the 3rd night ive been watching this before bed. only at an hour.
You got me by a Year but I agree with you 100%, I Think about the good ole day all the time... These late 90s and 00s babies really missed out on a lot.
to this day the backgrounds in both oddworld abes oddysee and exodus are the best ive seen in any game in my opinion
This and exoddus are the games everyone should play at least once in a lifetime.
That Oddworld inhabitants logo still sends shivers down my spine.
This is the very first video game I ever played. Damn near unforgettable memories.
Oooooh the memories... and the hours of searching for all the secrets. And finding all of them without internet
This game was scary for me when I was little. But I still play the game even then because I could not get enough of the EPICNESS!!!
My childhood in one game, i know every damn secret of this game. Sure, Abe's Exoddus was fun aswell but i've grown up with this game
Back when we didn't have much and appreciated the games that we had.
Its all about being subjective, to me the 90's literally seem like yesterday. It makes me smile when I see you young folk talking about the "good old days". It's so awesome to know that this game is being remade. Just saw the E3 Trailer
knowing that i played this in the ps1 brings a tear to my eye :`) gotta love the 90's!!!
I must find the voice actor for Abe, he deserves moar kudos.
Thanks for uploading this, brings back the memories :P
Wild 9 is the game indeed. I played it as a kid, god i miss those days...
yeah, i'm 18 now and this game always used to scare me as a kid, I could never play it alone but I just kept coming back for more. I miss it actually. And i'd probably still be scared by it too.
The intro just gives me chills of nostalgia.
omg, i remember playing this game at 5-6 when it came out, one of the most fun games ever, and this brings basck so many memories from playing it back then ;)
This game reminds me of my Nana! She loved playing it and she was the man! Good memories haha. R.I.P Nan xo
Mmmmmmmmm. That Sony logo. Brings back so many memories.
In all my years, I had the most fun playing this game. I would come home from work at like 11:30 at night and play this 'till 4 in the morning. Wonderfully charming characters and beautiful stories. Thanks, A.L.I.V.E, for making Oddworld.
This game was amazing! Even though I always died. I had NO IDEA what I had to do. But now it's simple. I miss this.
The Slig possession music was always so bad ass, it tells you it's time for business.
I honestly grew up with this game and I freaking love it!
also it sounds awesome with headphones!
i played this when i was a kid and thought that the graphics were amazing. and they are actually not half bad, even now
the memories of this game will never leave my mind even in death
This was the first game i ever played on ps1, remember my dad and i would spend ages playing it together laughing at the farts and stuff of Abe lol
Wow this brings back childhood memories, used to be favourite game until I lost it when we moved house when I was little!
Mate i was born 1997 and i still played this game! THIS WAS THE SHIT BACK IN THE DAY! :D
I LOVE ABE's VOICE... it brings back Nostalgic memories almost as much as when I hear Sky Chase Zone's stage music from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Oh how I miss being a kid because having to work everyday sure can suck at times but hey you got to bring home the bacon one way or another right?
i ain't played this for yearsss, i love it :') & i didn't know about all the other parts on the first level :O THANKS!!
Oddworld's graphics and gameplay were spectacular for ps1.
I miss this game. It was fun & a hard at times, miss those good old days, brings back memories haha. I hope they remake it lol.
got goose bumps watching this :'(
I played this game back in 1998 when I was 16 (in high school).
Now, I'm married with 3 kids & lots of life stress.
You really missed out if you didn't play this as a kid. brilliant and unforgettable. Only playin abe's exoddus now tho! still brilliant!
The greatest game i have ever played.I want to buy another PS1 just to play this again. Thanks for uploading although it took me about 2 months to complete not 2 hours, lol.
honestly i was scared to play this game, but then when i played it,i loved it to death. they need to make another one.
oh.. my.. GOD!! the amount of nostalgia broke my brain!
A truly gorgeous game, I mean as a kid I had no idea what kind of treasure was set before me. Blew my mind back then, this game was way ahead of its time. Kinda depresses me not being able to experience it nowadays, but I guess youtube will have to do...
Chase Morgan have you experienced it for yourself since?
I remember this game man! I loved it... I miss the good ol days xD
i grew up playing this game....same with crash banda coot and twisted metal..and i just downloaded them of the pss network and i cant stop playing them!
did you know that in the demo for this game, Abe said "stay here" instead of "wait", I know because we had that demo and this game eventually, so good
Belive me! I played this in the age of 5 on the PS1 with my longtime best friend I have known for now 14 years... We are both 14. And dude, we freaked out at the intro man! xD
Epic times man!
Когда я был маленьким,всегда боялся эту игру,но затем находил в себе храбрость и прошел эту игру.Она для меня самая лучшая.
