- Just Stop Oil (JSO) has said it is halting what it calls its campaign of civil resistance on the M25.
Over the last four days environmental activists have climbed gantries above the motorway, forcing it to close in several places.
In a statement the group said the move was to give the Government time to consider their responsibilities, adding: “We ask that the Prime Minister consider his statement at Cop27, where he spoke of the catastrophic threat posed by the ravages of global heating, the 33 million people displaced by floods in Pakistan, and the moral and economic imperative to honour our pledges.”
A police officer was injured during Wednesday’s protests.
Essex Police said there was a collision involving the police motorcyclist and two lorries during a rolling roadblock.

There is no such thing as “man made climate change”. Since it’s creation the planet has gone through (and will continue to go through) natural cycles of heating up and cooling down. Those ice core samples that show the highest co2 levels in history were found to occur pre industrial revolution. Before power stations, cars, lorries, buses, etc.?

Also these ice cores can only be taken at a few points on or planet and they don't record attual temperatures. As with all predictions we are forced to assume the people who's job it is to prove these things are right, but 70 years ago they were predicting a new ice age.

The loss of crops has little to do with a fabricated climate crisis and more to do with the lack of fossil fuels which has resulted in a shortage of chemical fertilizers which significantly increase yields.

There is a growing possibility of the public taking things into there own hands due to the lack of police action .These people are being given the licence to behave in a fashion that is unacceptable and if replicated by a member of the public would lead to an arrest and possible prison sentence.

There was NO PART of the UK which hit forty degree Celsius temperatures this summer. Parts of LONDON came close to hitting forty degrees but London is not the whole of the UK! My part of the South East topped out at about thirty six/ thirty seven and though it was hot, it was actually really pleasant!

She mentions 1,700 people dying this year in the "heatwave" (although I would also dispute these figures) yet far more people die during cold weather. So if the temperatures are increasing significantly this would mean less people would die in winter. Surely this would be a benefit of hotter weather from the point of overall numbers?

I was in Portugal. It was colder than normal for that time of year. I remember it being 45 degrees in 2003.
I live in southern Spain part of the year for its warmth which normally reaches 38-42oC every year and it has been doing since I can remember. Very rarely do the elderly die from these temperatures as they stay indoors and drink plenty water. Those that they stated that died, during this years high temperatures of no more than a week, were probably not from heat but other underlying problems. I’m here now and yesterday was 33oC and there were plenty of elderly people enjoying it! These climate activists are hysterical and always exaggerate the situation in order to scare people which is not working. It’s now having the opposite effect. The climate has always changed it cyclical. Can someone please tell me why it’s always white middle class/Uni educated or white middle class retired teacher/social worker types that are the activists. I haven’t seen many working class white/black or Asian activists!

I sit here and listen to all news on 'Just stop oil ' climate change etc. But I am still trying to work out why they say that drilling for oil is killing the population? I don't seem to hear any proper explanations apart from we are all going to die! I have concerns about the climate and believe me i am not stupid or insensitive to the matter in hand. However, is anyone else still trying to work out what this activist group is all about and have any explanations about why we are going to die if we drill for more oil?

Don't know what the issue is with spud crop, i had a brill yeold last year thanks to the weather, yeah i had to use some mulch so the soil retained moisture and maybe some shade netting but other than that they loved it.
As did my tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cucamelons, beans, squash.
