@@briannalaird6427 personally I like the roof tile pointing better. It stays more flexible when hot so doesn’t crack like grout can. Some of my oldest pointing builds still look just as good as day one with zero cracking or movement. My grout ones I have have hair line cracks and still to this day smell like grout
Yep I'm tuned in I'm subbed nice video I been thinking about new things for my enclosure... hey I have 2 black throat monitors tell me what you think 🤔👍
Yes I’m aware they are ground dwellers hence why I haven’t built climbing ledges etc. there is a ramp up for the basking spot and a ground based cave. I’d prefer to see a fake rock background rather than plain glass. Thanks for the praise,
My bluey can climb surprisingly well I have been searching for rocky looking background build ideas for my boy for aesthetic purposes as well as adding some mild climbing elements so this video is very helpful@@Cambart1
@@Zactreeee I don’t know how dryloc works mate I can’t get that in Australia. I waterproofed the inside of the enclosure prior to using foam. I then coat in a product we have here in Australia used for roof tiling called roof tile pointing.
You’ve probably answered this on other Videos and eventually I may come across the answer, but what the purpose of spraying it with water? What happens if you don’t?
If you don’t spray it, it tends to harden on the outside before the back is set. Causing a gooey mess in begins that never dries. Can cause the foam to move and crack the coating
This was amazing, I'm so inspired to make mine now
Great Job Cam, love the commentary and the completed background looks amazing!
You’re the voice over master hahaha I need you doing it for me😂😂
Nice video dude!
Cheers mate. Can’t wait to finally catch up again hahaha
Nice carving.
What material did you coat it with?
Thanks mate. It’s called roof tile pointing. Its o lot available in Australia due to it being a product we use to seal up roof tiles.
Would you recommend doing grout or tile pointing?

Blue toung Skinks are ground dwellers. What is it to do with all the rock walls you made? I think you did a great job. Wish I had your talent.

plus the foam can ad extra insulation for those of us that have really cold winters

Does expanding foam stick okay to wood? I want to do the same but my encloser walls are wooden only have glass doors
It will stick better to wood than it does glass mate. Check out the video of mine I did for my diamond python enclosure. It was built out of MDF.
@@Cambart1 you’re a legend mate thank you for the response, I’ve watched all your videos 2 or 3 times in preparation for this hahaha
Is dry lock needed at all for mdf and foam backgrounds ?

@@Cambart1 okay cool what do you use to waterproof?
Would this one work for a corn snake..
Would work for any reptile really. Just depends if you can the products i use in a place corn snakes are legal. We can’t keep corns here in aus
Hey, what did you use to color the rock? Is it regular house paint? I've been looking for something good to use
Paint it’s self is just acrylic paint watered down and applied with an airbrush.

What are you covering the foam with is it grout?
It’s a product called roof tile pointing. It’s only available in Australia.
In the US you can just use hydraulic cement for the first layer then mix in an aggregate:) that's what Sherpa designs does
