The common mallow also makes a great wrap for avocado, thinly cut carrots, cucumber, sesame seeds, micro greens (wild or domestic) and a dash of soy sauce. It's like fresh Sushi without the fish or rice 🤣. We jokingly call it plushi (plant sushi)
I am so hungry!! Yum!!! This sounds so good. I do love my seaweed but it's nice to have an alternative. PS Sushi means rice just so you know. Though much has fish in it. The fish itself is sashimi. I do not partake.
My Dad loved okra. One year we grew it and it was a great year. It was always fun to go look for the okra pods because they grew so fast. What I hated about it were the spines and going back to the house itching.
According to a dr's interview on a show, he said that plant leaves that have bug holes.. are good to eat and have more nutrients going to the leaves because its trying to push all its strength 💪 to the leaf to protect itself from the bug eating it. I though that to be interesting.
Very nice. And the yeast I love just sprinkle in hand and eat. Thank you. The leaves for wraps, I have not seen them that large and green. My front yard has lots of this, because I guess the property is a homestead. Stay safe and well. well.
Awesome video thank you 🙂 . I don't like Okra but I love common mallow. I use the young leaves and buttons in salad and green smoothies. The leaves really help green juice and smoothies stay together and not split. I use purslane for the same reason. Be blessed 🙏 I can't afford a Vitamix so what I do is use my regular blender and strain my smoothies through a sieve. Keeps a lot but not all the fibre but makes it easier to drink. Best of both worlds. Vitamix blenders cost the same as a used car in SA. Way out of my budget.
@@BoutenkoFilms absolutely love your videos so thank you for posting. It's one of my favourite channels 🙏🤗. My favourite at the moment is tomato, celery, common mallow, parsley, cayenne pepper, red bell pepper and Himalayan salt. I'm a savoury girl. Not a fan of sweets. You're incredibly helpful in my wild edibles journey. I've been eating wild edibles since I was 16 and the only RUclips channels that helped me learn something new was yours and Haphazard homestead. The only two channels that don't repeat the same old thing. Hope you have an amazing weekend and please keep posting videos.
I know the description says Malva Parviflora, but i'm pretty sure that's Malva neglecta. Parviflora leaves are less round and the flowers are more intense in color with a stripe through the petals. I think for parviflora it's the flowers that are edible (im unsure if the parviflora leaves are as edible as neglecta leaves) Im so happy to see this in comparison to okra though. I just bought okra seeds and i can't wait to plant them with my mallows.
Could you please tell me if you can why my okra dies right after the seedling comes up... I have tried to start it in house and outside after my last frost date.
Mallow is abundant in the Middle East right now, I was wondering if I could give this to my pet parrot (leaves, flowers, fruit) but the internet has not firm answers. Parrots can eat okra, and they can eat hibiscus, is mallow toxic in any way? I wonder if I can assume it is completely safe for birds because they can tolerate its relatives, but I would not love to try it out and find out it is toxic for birds. The internet says horses who graze primarily on mallow can experience toxicity issues, but horses and birds are different and I am making an extra effort to feed my bird seasonally for it’s own sake of health and I am not planning to use it as a main source of feed.
my common mallow never gets that huge and the leaves get "rusty" spots . Even though I eat those buttons (and nice leaves) you need a lot of buttons to make up for one okra.
I have grown okra in the right conditions in Washington state and I agree. When it is cared for, it gets huge and it produces okra so fast that you swear it's magic. The flower doesn't eventually turn into a pod the flower is a pod overnight when you're not looking when you turn your back and scratch your nose. I love this show but this is sad sad okra for any state.

If I'm not mistaken the okra is in the hibiscus family

Looks so delicious! Thank you!

Well I'm from Georgia and we cut the okra up and put a little salt on it and some cornmeal and fry it and it's excellent
I love okra and even freeze some for winter and Turkish food style of cooking it I could it once week
I wonder if you can freeze the wild okra leaves?.. how they would do.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful feedback. I’m going to try your Plushi recipe before the mallow disappears for the year. 🤸♂️

Brilliant
I can definitely do the greens from the okra😊
I gotta download all your food videos 📹...they're awesome... One day I'll put them in to action 😉

Can't beat a good okra gumbo!

9:45 decimate means to reduce by 10%
Thank you for the great video! I’m going to look for common mallow when I go hiking.
Is there a species of Mallow native to the Caribbean /South America?

I love okra it is very good pickled.
How does okra do in smoothies
Why didn’t you take the seeds out of the pears?
I have a Vitamix and I can tell you it pulverizes little pear seeds with ease.
Not a fan of okra so I'm hoping for an alternative 😊😊😊
🥰😊🥰
A vegetable is where you eat the root and kill the plant. Everything you eat from a flower is a fruit. Genesis 1:29 : "Eat the seed bearing fruit".
Here in MS Okra will grow over your head.. and roots are not tiny.

Please cussing is never cool ❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
Looks more like some kind of beatle damidge on your leaves.
Do not pull out your plants out of the soil... that wil only damage your soil!
