It's a music history tragedy that there are only 2 full length videos of his amazing performance from his KOTWF world tour and PC tour. He put so much time and energy into them. He was the show! Love everything he does! Insanely gorgeous and So seductive! So addictive!
To this day his voice amazes me!! Sounded great live, even better than studio. He's my all time favorite. All. Time. Thanks so much for posting this! "You might not like us now, but you will."
I love the way the Ants combined punk and tribal sounds, layering that on top of the two drums. And Adam, what a showman. All clean fun, whatever that means!
I saw the Ants once - December 21st 1981 at the Dominion Theatre in London - and it was like a "year zero" in music for me. Why this band aren't remembered with the reverence they deserve is anyone's guess. Adam was extraordinarily creative! Hope he's in good health now.
Just because your 40 doesn't mean you know more about him, and it doesn't make you anymore worthy then anyone else. It doesn't matter how long you've followed his career or been a fan, even Adam Ant would say that the important part is being a fan and supporting his music. For 40 years old, you sound like an emo adolesent.
I was in high school in the 80's and this was the ultimate band for me! I saw Adam in concert 3 times and still love to watch the videos! I almost changed my name to Eve Ant! : )
I only fell in love when he released his last album in '95. Wonderful. I saw his concert and only knew 2 songs...now I know every breath of his catalog...wish I could go back and see him live again. (I got to touch him!)
I am 24 And Often Wear a medley of leather tousers, belts and other garments, when russel brand first rose to fame people confused me image with being like his when i was truly an ant! love adam and the ants they were wicked!
I was 13 when this happened and of course loved it... utterly exciting and original... and yep, DWWS was a classic album... as was KOTWF. But what blows me away, here in this video (having had a dabble in music myself) is the true originality of the music and its complexity... and Adam playing bass-style riffs on his Tele whilst effortlessly singing his mad melodies (with those sharp-note inflections.... and nutcase facial expressions as he did so).... it's a level of professional performance (aside from its massive originality - did I say that twice before?) that is truly astounding. Amazing stuff.
Adam and the Ants/Adam Ant .. wow what a find this vid is!! awesome, they were not round for long enough though. Still got all the albums on tape somewhere!!
Wow, I haven't thought about these guys since I was a kid. I remember watching their vids on MTV, when MTV was actually MTV. I don't know what it's supposed to be now, more like a gossip channel from what I've seen. Yes kids, MTV (music television) actually used to play music videos all day and night, it was great.
These RUclips vids of Adam are just addicting, he is such a fabulous performer. I am in love with his music, and I'm only 15. It just goes to show that this is music, not the wannabe generic sound that we have tooooooo much of today. I feel cheated in a way, I wish I were born to experience the "Ant Invasion" :) They are just amazing.
And the clothing and hairstyles that went along with it. I was wearing purple lipstick and painting my face at 13 in middle school. Love that you you became an Antperson around the same age as me 40 years later!
Dirk Bogarde was an actor that Adam admired. He used to wear white socks a lot in films, apparently. I think it was also an alternative to a count down to start songs too at one point. i.e. 'Dirk Wears White Sox' instead of 'One Two Three Four'
not thought of this but adam can i think realy play that guitar shame he didnt do more solos, he is never realy mention for his guitar playing but its good and has been overlooked
I had a huge crush on Adam Ant when in HS but years later got to meet him in person as well as Grace Jones and James Hong (Asian guy who was in Blade Runner..u know whom I'm talking about) anyway, Adam Ant flirted with me when improvising but that ended up on the cutting room floor (darn!) but u can see me in dance scene w/ guy wearing dark shades and my hair was spikey on top like Tina Turner in Road Warrior.
THIS. IS. THE. LOOK. Wasn't keen on Prince Charming, sorry but I'm entitled to my opinion. But that white stripe and those drums made an everlasting fan of me...FOR LIFE.
