This was one of the funniest video I have ever seen. And at the same time the idea is absolutely brilliant and will work very efficiently. I think that 10-15 feet is the max length otherwise you (and I as I am following you on that one) the suction power will be impaired. But other than that…..this is what DIY is all about. Hammered improvise 101... Built my own central vac with a ridgid 16 gallon and 40 ft oreq stinger with an 55 ft electrical pig tail and nutone beam head for now until i get a sebo et one or two

This might be your finest mad science work. So much so that I am ordering the hose immediately after I type this. I have a Ridgid 12g wet dry vac that is an absolute pain in the dick to move around my shop, then move inside or outside for the pool or clean up flooding in my sunroom. The bucket setup plus a 30-40 foot hose permanently mounted in my shop for cleaning up sawdust and metal shavings would save me a whole lot of time and effort.

I made a 50ft headphone cable years ago from 2 conductor shielded microphone cable. I'm guessing an xlr cable would work too.
