I imagined Invincible swallowed a few pieces of flesh when Omni Man put him through a train.
I'm ruining it, Omni Man canonically ran a train on Mark
@@MidnightNachos💀
They were standing
The train did all the running
@@josecastilho6652 these ppl are too horny to realize that
Quite probable since he couldn't keep his mouth closed when yelling at his dad
This aged very well with the first episode having Nolan tell Mark 'hurry up I'm starving' while he's about to kill the protesters.
"Lets wrap this up quickly. I missed lunch because of that protest in Bangkok!"
@@mateigabrielzaharia4842riot, it was a riot

This is so underrated. Idk why this video decided to show up 2 years later
Ikr I can’t wait to see if he can do the same for season 2
true
that pizza conspiracy really came in clutch with Rex ordering that pizza in season 2
you actually provided evidence for the “we’re having subway” joke
the fact we got 5 minutes+ of quality analysis out of the first conversation in the show between two background characters is insane
The twisted way to look at omni man's meals with Debbie isn't right, but it was very well done, and it allows us to connect with Debbie and see omni man as an alien, until they reconnect and we see that Nolan has become human without realising it
Yep. Amazing analysis, and I’d genuinely be unsure of where the writers meant to take it… if the comics didn’t exist
4:35 why the FUCK have i only just made thst connection. I always thought it was the start of another attack and then immediately forgot about it. Even with the burger mart packaging. I cant believe that flew over my head until now
it may have flown over your head.... but it didnt fly over THERE HEADS!! HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHAAAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAA!
I never made the ketchup connection, I thought it squished another dude
It's pretty neat that the food and beverages are used as metaphors in the storytelling like this.
And man, "The only reason that there is so much food in Invincible, is so that there can be too much food in Invincible." really hits home in an uncomfortable way after re-framing the end of S1...
I guess, uh... Subway, Eat flesh! er... wait, no... maybe don't.
The
"you don't"
joke is absolutely amazing, already like the vid
Honestly makes me look at the father-son meal in Baki so much differently now... Nice analysis

I JUST REALIZED the trash bag was the one Mark threw… how did I just realize that 😭😭
mark was NOT a shitty boyfriend, hit priorities were in perfect order. The validation of a teenage girl matters way less than saving thousands of lives
The only problem with amber is she didn't have any arc, including season 2. She realized the problems with the relationship, but not herself. The writers gave her flaws, but forget to actually recognize them as such.
I’ve always thought that exploring food in a sci-fi setting would be incredible that new planets would have new flavors and foods
Warhammer 40k has common people eat human corpses blended with ammonia to show how grimdark the setting is that cannibalism is normal
I notice the food whenever I watch studio ghibli movies. It always seems like such a huge animation flex when they can make food look so appetizing in 2D animation, and it makes my mouth water every time
Y'all are crazy. Second video in progress.
this is so good, I really never noticed the symbolism before. keep up the good work
If dad forces you to get subway, bad things will happen.
regarding alcohol:
Wine smooths, Whisky sooths and Beer chills
Wine, especially red wine, relax the person and even a bit gives euphoria, giving a person a sort of positive view about his stress.
Whisky sooths, it something you drink to forget, and the small pain of the shot in a sense remind you that you are alive, but either you are miserable or too drunk to remember it.
Beer is more for chills, its not really alcoholic enough to get drunk fast but enough for you to not feel too bad about things, a sort of "tough shit" attitude towards problems.
As a student, I feel obligated to remark that, yes, you can get drunk quickly on beer.
It's all about the way you go about it, and which ones you drink ^^
@@nagato9100
No, getting drunk on beer is all about drinking more in than you piss out
Whaat??? He doesn't hate Amber?
Get him boyz!!!
Roger! Triangulating position!
Amber would be a perfectly fine character if not for *THAT* scene. I accidentally skipped it on my first watch and didn’t get why people didn’t like Amber
@@bananabanana484 well, you're just being ignorant. Glad they fixed her character in Season 2, though the drastic change's jarring.
@@naufalmEZathey literally just ripped her character from the comics again, which is jarring because *_they completely rewrote her_*
White Amber is just an entirely different different character and yet they basically just copied the comic's homework. It *_is_* still an improvement, but yeah, it's jarring because its basically just a different character.
@@felixjohnson3874 no wonder she's much more bearable.
before the train scene, Nolan says that he'll have to "make mark understand". so you could argue that he is forcing the truth down marks throat.
I wasn't gonna watch a nearly 40 minute video on such an obscure topic, but the ben 10 clips won me over. It's 4:49am and yet here I am
I really like how it makes everything feel that little more grounded. I've been watching Fallout and it bugs that in a post apocalyps the characters don't feel like they're struggling for survival in any way. I mean you're telling me they just walk across a desert and they don't seem to get thirsty or even a little dirty at all? I get it's not the focus of the show but it would've been something that would make the world more grounded and believable without needing to sacrifice the tone.
The food is not the focus of the show though. It’s just background scenery. Dungeon Meshi, on the other hand deserves an official cookbook.
Background scenery has some serious import. Dungeon meshi's a good fucking show tho 👍
Thanks for making this vid blow up guys, it was one of my favorites. A couple people in the comments want a Season 2 food vid, so let's make a deal: if the channel hits 5K subs in the next two weeks, my next video will be about Season 2's food. If not, I'll stick to my original plans. Ready?
Go.
i love how your comment on omniman loving debbie more than he says comes full circle where in the last episode so far in season 2 he says "i miss my wife"
500 subs to go, better get ready to make the video
SUBBED! NEED A 2ND THIS VIDEO IS INSANE I LOVE IT SM
this vid is super well written and im surprised it stayed underground so long, hope you do make a 2nd parter :) I subbed !
This video was PEAK, can't wait for the next!!
“Where’s the rest of the burger, William?”
Holy shit this video is so underrated, one of the best Invincible analyses I've seen, if not the best. I'd noticed food's significance in Invincible but I couldn't put my finger on why. Just another video breaking down what makes Invincible so special.
The best? This was pure waffling. Matpat levels of stretching.
@@bungiecrimes7247 you were definitely one of those "maybe the curtains were just blue?" Annoying people
"Let me break it down for you, Mark"
@@bye1551On the opposite side, "the curtains were blue because they represent the main character's post-partum depression" can be seen as just as validly annoying.
Oh heckums, THESE are the sorts of "minor details" in writing that when analyzed make the overall work even richer.
Thank you for making such an in-depth video!
Subbing to your channel!
Invincible is a really special show. Loved how you did a thing with how they like to drop the title in the episodes.
This was a pretty cool analysis, especially helpful for me as im not really a family person and dont really do social eating and also dont drink.
I feel like them constantly being eating works really well at showing how as superheros there lives are constantly being interrupted. There always planning there next meal because there lives are off the rails.
This is the best food symbolism analysis video I have ever seen since literally there is no other video like this
i thought this was going to be a "they showig food for propaganda sdagsgasdg" video but was pleasently surprised to hear some actual media analysis. great vid +veri underrated
Your title intrigued me. I will now consume this media
Duh! At 31:13 he was eating subway!
this is underrated, i love the way you talk about the symbolism its great!! thank you for this
Hey. Just watched your video on AU villains. In it, you mentioned another Invincible video so I decided to check it out. Wow. This has gotta be one of the most unique discussions about this show that I have seen. Really interesting concept for a video. I never noticed the way meals were used in this show.
Definitely found a good channel. Im excited to see what you make in the future.
Great analysis, while I saw how much food there was in Invincible I never stopped to consider how little is actually consumed or the context of each one. You actually made me change my mind about the last scene between Mark and his friends! (I admit at first I found it odd that he would leave his mom alone in the house but with this insight it seems much more empathetic).
Also I love the nuanced take in Mark and Amber's relationship since most people I've seen seem to hate her.
Please make more videos about analyzing little literary traits like this. This was so sick and got me to appreciate one of my favorite pieces of art in a new way.
As someone who studied storytelling for 2 years, I LOVED these little details. I've always said Invincible was incredibly well done, and it HAS to be analized for a source of social studies
The Avengers post-credits scene really slams home how much they look people realizing just how sore they're going to be in the morning.
Well, maybe not Banner. Thor, maybe.
Brooo this is kinda relaxing to watch like yeah... Talking about food in a video that is not recipes or stuff like Guga's food, DIY steak tutorials or Gordon Ramsay, is kinda relaxing, never seen someone talking about the food in series like this bro this is the original type shiii i was looking for without even realising!
The ep 1 conversation about Matt ties into the themes of the show so well. Fatherhood can be rough Rocky and gray. No father does everything perfectly and they can’t always expect what they’re children are going to do when/as they grow up. They (hopefully) just do their best with what they think is right. The catharsis of this story that comes from episode 2 ties it up in a nice little bow as you said with the answer that, no matter what form it takes, family is family. Good bit of foreshadowing for what happens later in the show.
I didn't expect a video about Invincible's food of all things, but I was so interested in your points. Great video!
banger of a video honestly. i love this kind of stuff, it’s exactly what i look for when watching analysis videos! and for what it’s worth i gotta agree with it too.
thanks for the awesome vid, it scratched just the right itch in my brain lol
I genuinely love your content and your charisma. I was really surprised that you had so few subscribers. your editing is on point and your content is informative and engaging.
I saw this video a year ago and i have been searching it for weeks 😭
I am really happy i found it again bc i enjoyed it a lot ^^ 💖💖💖
0:05 actually like 5 minutes ago as I was watching a video about teen titans
The way I see the treatment of food in this show is that
They're treating food as food
You eat it
Except they don't eat it. Which is weird enough that I talked about it for 40 minutes
In Samurai Champloo, some of the most memorable moments of each episode are the moments where it's just Fuu, Mugen, and Jin eating because throughout the show it is a major way that they end up becoming close to one another and end up making them care for each other in the end. Watch Samurai Champloo, it's great.
You are too good. This video is so crazy. I would have never seen this coming. I listened to this and it was so engaging that I listened at 1x speed
Watching this genuinely made me pause the video 2 minutes in to get up a bring some food to eat and finish to continue watching the vid
This is my new favorite video. I feel pretty happy to have absorbed all 38 slices of it. You have enlightened me to a world-view, I didn't know was so delicious. THANK YOU. THIS ONE, WAS TASTY.
Bro, excellent video. You really nailed to make a analysis that a I have never thought about. Cheers from Brazil!
I like thinking about food in shows but never considered it for Invincible, this is excellent!
Edit: This video just blew my mind, amazing
I never once considered anything to do with food in Invincible until this video except for the Chicken Pot Pie memes
From the title I already knew this would be a great video. It's interesting how they use the food scenes to make some relatable normalcy in a crazy superhero world. I've always loved stories using food in interesting ways for symbolism or character building. I never noticed how much they use it tho.
It'd be interesting if you went through season 2 as well.
It's amazing to see you analyze the themes around pizza before when it shows up again in season 2!
Would LOVE to have a season2 review from you. Great video
“And the occasional mention of ✨ *p i z z a a* ✨”
Did I just watch a 40min video on food in invincible, Yes, and I’m in love with it, well done, such a perfect video.
Oh man are you good, im such a fan of how you can hold my attention, will definelty bookmark the pateron for when i have the extra cash
I thought you were stretching this with the dessert, but the drink symbolism works perfectly.
Phenomenal. Any more words to describe this analysis are superfluous
Looking at season 2 and the pizza thing about destruction, they talked about it right before the fight with the lizard league
this video is pretty good, much more than expected from such a small channel.
staggeringly well done dissection, very cool.
I hope you get to 5K man; I'm interested to see your take on meals this past season (especially that meal with Allen and Telia in episode 3). With this season, do you plan on building on the ideas established here, or see how things have changed?
Plus, I applaud the credits citing the sources you used; not a lot of folks do that and it's a small thing, but I appreciate you did that.
Sir, why are you 100 times better than any other narration channel???
underrated video bro, amazing work.
Idk why this decides to show up 2 years later but I’m glad it did great stuff. I hit the subscribe button ❤
I hate video essays but this one caught my eye. Brilliant analysis.
But that’s just a theory, a Food Theory!
I just realized something...
Is show Eve more powerful than comics Eve?
I thought the whole thing about her powers is she can't use it to alter organic matter/beings, but she grew trees like they were nothing?
i dont usually comment on videos, but i really enjoyed this video. good job!
It's a real shame this only has 71K views, to spot, speculate, and elaborate the amount of hidden symbolism is something so so so SO SMALL
I never thought that food can be so interesting even when you say pizza in such in a way it’s so funny and you can make some sense I just checked amaze me on what I just missed. I am going to subscribe.
thank you algorithm for allowing this masterpiece to resurface 🗣️
Season 2 is crazy after seeing this video
I really like that analysis tool: a meal in literature is when a character eats, and the food represents the ideas the character is working through. Two or more characters sharing a meal coincides with those characters working through a shared idea, and their reaction to the meal mirrors their reaction to the ideas. Hence Mark's horrified reaction to the gore of the train.
extremely underrated video. good work!
Dude your videos are so good
I ate this up, pun intended
The food thing had been a recurrent joke in the comic though it mostly alien food, but this is surprisingly in depth.
i need more content to watch at work bro. subbed lol
Don't forget disturbed, bizarre alien food cuisines like Starfire's kind, Ben 10, and Allen the Alien. :v
I wish I was this smart
Damn this was a late banger. Can't wait for the same analysis for Season 2
I had only recently watched invincible and had seen loads of memes and stuff so I knew omni-man was the villain for series 1 but I was still blown away by how good it is
this is such a great analysis! Also nice job for not jumping on the Amber hate train, i dont even like her but some of the hate she gets feels weird with how intense it is.
This is a great video, some real grade-A lit major meat in this sandwich. I didn't notice what was happening with food when I watched the show, and I really like where you went with it. I want to share a lot of thoughts, but I'll just share one so this comment isn't massive:
There's another great tertiary character who is a father, who is developed to emphasize the reality and impact of collateral damage to humans, and who shares a symbolic food scene with his child, and that's Gary! The next time that we see him after he's done being dangled from a rooftop, he's in Downtown Chicago buying icecream with his daughter. It's such a subversive scene, because we don't expect Gary to die after Titan lets him go. We expect him to be a father to his kid, but he isn't going to get that chance, because seconds before Mark is involuntarily made into a projectile, Gary is making the same mistake that Mark did. He's trying to reconcile with someone he loves, whom he has wronged (by getting himself into debt and thus danger) by buying her a dessert. A couple of minutes later, when we see Gary for the final time, we have to identify him from his clothes, because his head is obscured by the sedan resting upside-down on top of it. We also see his daughter in the aftermath, experiencing the first stages of trauma as she stares in uncomprehending horror at her father's body. Her trauma is arguably Gary's fault (isn't it cool how the tertiary character pairs of Gary/daughter and Security Dad/son are foils to one another and to Nolan/Mark?!), because if he hadn't chosen to apologize by buying that icecream, he probably wouldn't have been standing in Mark's trajectory when he was punched through the city. Nothing was going to change for Gary, because the immutable rule of Invincible is that civilian deaths have to happen, and they have to hurt; and because icecream is a pitiful substitute for being open with your loved ones about your mistakes and betrayals. The inclusion of icecream in that scene really deepens the tragedy, because it means that Gary was never going to get his life together for his daughter's sake. It was inevitable that he was going to hurt her, because one way or another, Gary's choices would always lead to him painting sidewalk.
Anyway, Invincible is an excellent show, and this is exactly the kind of video I'm looking for when type it in the search bar. I'll definitely check out your other stuff!
My favorite moment was the hamburger splitting moment with William.
Loved this! Do an analysis of season 2 pretty please!
I’m almost positive that the reason no one is really eating is because of the animation cost to actually have someone’s Mouth move when chewing
And yet, they do animate some people eating. Lots of people, just not the Graysons
this is absolutely hilarious yet so interesting at the same time
Nolan is a confirmed pizza eater™
fun fact, north korea actually has a shitload of mcdonalds buildings
Yeah writer/reader Jordon gets a whole lotta stuff wrong editor Jordon needs to catch
Spoilers for season 2
Really appreciate this video because now i wanna rewatch season 2 just thinking about the food. What i predominantly remember in terms of food are meals being postponed or interrupted by violence. Like allen, mark and amber getting interrupted. Or rex, kate, and rae not being able to eat their dreaded pizza before getting wreaked by the lizards. Plus with rick's near death the first thing we see are the beer bottles.
This is the kind of video i want to watch!!!!!
