I don't think Stardust in its own right was a bad idea, it was gimmick that had legs since it was given a preexisting relationship with Goldust, and Cody is a fantastic performer. It could've been much better than it really was. Also the trio with the ascension I actually liked and I will fight anyone on that
If the pay off would have been Stardust and Cody being two different personas and leading to Cody actually winning MITB later down the line and creating “The High Class Family” or something along with Brandi, holding gold would have been perfect booking for that time period..

The ascension had alot of potential but they were jobbers from the get go and that sucked because I actually liked them
What should've happened is that Cody slowly lost his mind, lost to Goldust at WrestleMania 32, and then slowly began to turn Face. Every month, he'd win a bit more, match after match, until finally facing Goldust again at SummerSlam, and after beating him, he'd wipe off the facepaint, and the next night on Raw, comes out as himself.

What annoys me, and others so i've heard, is sitting through those nonsense promo's at the start of RAW that follow the same formula every . single . time. Those are boring.
Scripted promo's are boring.
There are very few people that can make long promo's entertaining.

Star dust still can work perfectly, as a alter ego gimmick. Like Finn/Demon Fin, Bray/Fiend, All of the variations of Mick Foley, etc.
The thing with those is they were cool or looked threatening star dust is just a rip off gold dust

I think Cody played stardust amazingly. if he had better face paint and they allowed him to make it his own thing it would have killed. but Cody also wants to be a John Cena type figure and being stardust probably seemed like a step back for him

Stardust in his own right was a good gimmick but IMO the gimmick really needed that match with Dustin at Mania where Stardust loses and returns to Cody. That would've elevated him so much.

@@theoutsiderjess1869 he hated it because starudst was stardust, it wasn’t Cody. Cody wanted to be himself, not the ideals or a picture that was painted by someone else. He didn’t hate the character he just hated being something that he had no control of.
I remember him saying in an interview he thought it was only going to be for the storyline with Goldust and he was fine with that. But after that ended, there wasn't really a point to it anymore. He actually hated the gimmick so much that he didn't want to personally be connected to it in any way so he did all public appearances in character, as Stardust, not Cody Rhodes. Nobody told him to do that, he did it on his own.

I get what Cody was saying. However this is what I liked about Stardust, as the youngest of 5 kids, all siblings are different...but there's a little something that is similar underneath. That's what I saw in Stardust, that small piece of similarity in the brothers . It lasted too long I think; 3 months maybe would have been enough.

No you not the only one. I was amazed at how Cody debuted as stardust like I wish it could’ve went longer because it was intriguing. For one the attire he had was pretty solid in terms of having a similar color attire to his brother but there were distinctive differences as well like the star he had on his attire. Secondly, the entrance music like man that was so good I couldn’t get tired of it like it was so catchy and i was like man I wish he can bring that theme back once but it has to come back with the gimmick cause it’s only suitable for the stardust character but yea overall stardust was a great character and unique in its very own way

Lmao it was Stephanie and Vince. Yup there was no way he was getting out of that. I will say I appreciated the heel work he did with Amell. Always had love for Cody since The Legacy and saw his greatness when they put the new intercontinental title on him. He carried that belt with poise.

All cause it wasnt his idea that he wanted to get over he did a shit job of promoting himself... gimmick was a fantastic idea... it was up to him to make people love or hate it..... he just didnt do enough cause it wasnt his idea and lets face it Cody is just like Vince and his Dad if its not their idea they dont like it.
Nah. It didn’t fit him. The gimmick has to fit the person as well. Want an example? The Ringmaster.
This is why wrestling is dead. They dont even try to make it seem real. Even kids know they are "gimmicks"

promos stretching that long are totally unnecessary. 10-15 max tbh. because it only goes so long until people stop caring. That's why it's best when shorter, because it can be harder hitting without the extremely long length taking away from it

Storytelling happens in the ring, promos should only provide context for the action in the ring, if you need 20 minutes on the mic instead of in the ring, you should probably be doing soap operas instead of wrestling.
@@moistbread180 I'm pretty sure not even the Rock and CM Punk took over 12 minutes together in the ring for a promo. Arguably two stars bigger than Cody, basically shared 6 minutes of mic time together. I'm not keeping up with the product as much as I should, but I know promo's shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes unless you have something iconic.
