If you ski: never move your ellbows back. If you do that, your upper body goes up, you become stiff (= less mobile) and get more pressure at your heels and than you're a passenger. If you ski: never look down to your feet. You can't control anything with your eyes. It's like cycling or car driving. You also don't look to your feet. Or do you? 😅 If you ski: the checklist starts at the bottom (skis) and ends at the top (head) and you need to know everything from memory. And last but not least: if you ski, you're not snowboarding. 😉
You absolutely should be on the front of your boots in soft snow. Levering back just loses all control of the tips and forces you to push through your heels. Makes getting grip above the fall line impossible.

been skiing 60 years…do you have a drill to quiet the fear of speed that never goes away?
Try that 2nd tip on soft, boot deep snow ..... then form an opinion. Totally 100% agree with the 1st tip though.

And tell the Dude to change the ski he is on
