Yup, it’s why I quit watching this channel. A simple “Didn’t fit into our schedule this year” would’ve sufficed. Kind of a douchey passive/aggressive move against a supposed friend’s channel if you ask me. . .
I don't blame you for not going to the wrecker games. I scratched my head when I first heard how they are doing it. I thought, "Maybe I'm selfish but I never let anyone else drive the stuff I build and tear it up." Good to hear I'm not the only one who thought that.
it sounds to me like he's being like Dave sparks, who was very disappointed that he was not asked to the wrecker games, he never lets nobody drives his vehicles, I guess I feel the same way, I drive a semi truck and they've asked me plenty of times to be a trainer, I'm sorry but there is no way in hell that I am going to be asleep and have somebody who just got out of training school drive my semi. oh hell no I'm not that damn stupid!!! 😂😂😂
I've got an old truck I rebuilt over the course of a few years, and the only person on the planet I will let drive it is my old man, because I know he knows how to drive it and respects the time I have into it. No way in hell I'd let some random knucklehead drive it
Absolutely! If it doesn't feel right then definitely don't go. Everyone has to walk their own path and no explanation is necessary! The biggest mistakes I've made in life has been when I've gone against those gut feelings.

Whenever a video starts with Michelle and Paul sitting down, I realize what a strong united team they are and that they work through things together, as they should. It’s a great example for young couples. Actually, it’s a great example for all couples. Thank you for putting out videos that are of the quality you do and for setting a great example.

Absolutely Sir! When Paul mentioned the "liability" portion it was clear that was the first thing I thought when they announced they would be allowing newbies to drive the wreckers... Not the best idea in my opinion... More of a gimmick rather than in the true spirit of the original games...

Yet again, Paul and Michelle and family, reconfirms why I still enjoy watching them and still continue to root for them. Not going to call out any other channels that I used to and was disappointed I had to stop watching, but one channel in particular has drastically changed (fame does effect people/highlights what they were about all along). I will never say I'm right and everyone should listen or agree with me, as we are all different and motivated by different things, as well as being fully aware that people all have a right to their opinion. With that being said, family, character, respect, grit, and not just following everyone else all the time and being able to be upfront and honest, like you just did, has been why I still look forward to watching every single new video Fab Rats releases! It's not even about the Off-Road Games, it's more about making a decision, which I think truly fits who you all are and what you all are about, being transparent, and honest, and upfront with your supporters, just makes me respect you all even more! Some may be disappointed, but remember, if you actually do respect and care about Paul and Michelle, what should matter is that they do what's feels right and what they feel comfortable doing or not doing and I will continue to support them! I said, years ago that I respect the Fab Rats family, and that when I think of the classic amazing America family, I think of you guys, which unfortunately nowadays, seems to be more rarer than ever but also why, following along has been so refreshing and inspirational to me - But that's just one man's opinion.

💯 agree on one channel changing a whole bunch. So much in fact that I didn't even care to watch anymore. The notifications on video uploads that I never watched anymore got old I finally unsubscribed. I'll stick to the Fab Rats family.

I am disappointed that you are not goin this year, BUT I agree with you 100%. I was taken aback when I heard the rules from Matt too. You need to be driving your rig with the new LT4... That "Grampa Sherm rat" was a nice touch. I am glad you put the outer legs on, I was worried. I have seen better welds, but they will hold. That is a lot of bead. Should hold a lot of snow. "MORE COWBELL, MORE MICHELLE!!!"

This is truth. The networks aren’t getting it anymore. The rats and others are better, original, fresh. Even Ian Johnson’s show is played out and I used to love watching him build rigs

I think the idea came from when Jamie drove Rory's buggy for an event at sandhollow.
Thank you for announcing that you won't be attending... just saved us a ton of time and money. We were able to cancel our hotels and hadn't bought our tickets yet. We are in Phoenix area and we're going to make the drive to see y'all... love the content will have have to stop by Glendale on our way back to Canada in April.
Had a situation happen in front of me in a drive thru ,it snowed then froze , then defrosted the metel awning the angle was deep enough for the whole sheet of now ice to slide off ,and it fell on the roof of the vehicle in front of me, did a lot of damage , my advice would be to include stops at the ends of every valley . So you dont get hurt, you may already know this 😊
They're called snow brakes.
I used to have a house where the snow slide off onto the driveway from about 18 feet. A guy that was a casual friend of one of our friends parked under it and the snow slid and crushed the cab and hood. It even broke the intake. He tried it sue us but we warned him multiple times.

@@RFDarter Very interesting that Casey’s off road commented to fabrats that they’d see them at the cabin. If you watched Matt from the beginning, you’d remember Casey and know he and almost all videos he was in with Matt disappeared of MORR channel.

@@RFDarter Casey was in more than a handful. Probably 12-15. He had entire videos doing recovery’s with Matt and even working in the Banana. Suddenly he disappeared and Matt removed all videos except 1 where Casey is only visible on the background. There’s a lot of speculation that Fabrats and MORR had a similar falling out. And suddenly Casey is commenting on Fabrats videos. Seems odd. It’s relevance is Casey owes his entire audience to MORR.

Anyone else feel like The Fab Rats and Matt’s off road recovery had a falling out after the tool pouch came out? There was talk in the launch video that someone didn’t want it to happen and then shortly after The Fab Rats launched their tool pouch so did Matt’s.

You sure were one of the best reasons to watch the wrecker games last year. It has changed like you said and I am 100% behind you. Also here in New Mexico when we need rain just start a roofing job and the rain will appear out of nowhere.
I opted out of the games this year too. It was fun meeting you last year. Fun to chat with your crew as well. However, this year I don’t care for the format. It has also doubled in price from last year. I think Matt has gone the way of Heavy D and is all about the money. I’ve dropped his channel and still very much enjoy your content.

One reason I enjoy watching FR's is I did oversee a fabrication shop (un-foreseen life events and overcoming chaos), back in my 40's (68 now). Learned a lot from all fields of the biz, and, I learned more about myself, that I could always learn something new, even if it cost me something, and be grateful for those things that I learned that cost someone else something. Now this is a good addition to the shop putting this awning up to keep the water out not only will it do that but it will give cover to whatever vehicle or equipment they need to keep out of the weather. The Fab Rats team is awesome and Grandma Lolly keeps them inline! I think its a good idea to miss the wrecker games this year that's a lot of wear and tear on their equipment, etc. Good idea preparing for the winter storms too.

100% behind your choice on the ORG's. As Michelle said, go with your gut, if it feels wrong, don't do it. The new awning looks fab, it is going to be a saving grace in many ways, a shelter from rain and snow, as well as a sun shade in summer.

I agree with Paul on the off road games. If I'm not driving my rig whats the point. Kinda weird concept this yr on the games I thought.
I can see a "my rig is so well constructed and engineered that even someone without experience can drive it through these obstacles" being a pretty big bragging right. It means your fabrication has to be great, not just your driving skill. A great driver could take a lot of pretty poor rigs through obstacles, but to make something so good a novice could drive it through and without breaking it would show how good you are in the shop.
Change of pace in this video with building and installing the awning for the shop, but it was flat-out interesting. Good video.
Love your channel. Do what you feel is right, its got you where your are and it seems you guys are happy. The way life should be. You a re very talented and I enjoy your light heartedness in approaching a problem to solve. Stay Safe!!!!

Props to you for listening to your “gut”. I really wanted to want to go to the games this year. The first event was so epic because of the small close group involved. Also, it was unique, wreckers. This year it feels sort of like just another event for the sake of another event, or just to get bigger, fast. What made last year special was the stories behind the participants, the stories behind your wreckers, and the uniqueness of the event. I can understand that your going would cost you a lot financially (I’m assuming that that participants aren’t financial beneficiaries of the event), risk to property, and sort of lending your brand for the benefit of others. Tough place to be in. Wish they had refined, and continued with it being something close-held and unique.
Thank you for being honest and upfront. Sometimes no is the right answer. Keep doing what you do. Really like the whole family being involved. Can't wait to see the roll back finished.

I've often wondered what it's like to have help and the equipment to do those types of projects. I built a 16x24 porch and a 24x28 steel carport by myself with nothing but some creativity and a ladder. Never been so tired of trotting up and down a ladder in my life lol. Needless to say I got brushed up on the proper application of muttered profanity.

As far as the off road games, no biggie. (I won't be there either) I think you made the right decision.
I wasn't paying all that much attention to the rules for the 2024 Off-Road Games. But hearing Paul's comment about "liability", I got caught up on it and completely get it now. The idea is the RUclipsr offroader's vehicles would be driven by RUclipsr non-offroader drivers. Sounds like fun but the vehicle damage and personal injury risk is a real worry. Bummer it has to be that way.

yea not really bout liability but more of that was his dads truck that he and his dad put blood sweat and tears into,
then after he passed away he put even more blood sweat and tears into it in memory of his dad. too much sentimental value to let a random tear up.
@@tex5079 He has other vehicles, or like others could make more. It has nothing to do with that specific vehicle (in fact there is no reason to take that one because this isn't about wreckers). It likely has to do with liability, or something to do with disagreement about rules or money or something else. Liability could be VERY real though if someone gets hurt driving your highly modified rig.
It doesn't have to be that way; it's that way because of Matt and most likely Derral Eves, his highly-paid YT consultant. Just sayin'

Hey Paul, writing from the salt lake area. The reasons that window in your shop leaks is 1) it's upside-down. 😂 2) the nail fin on the top(actually the bottom) is broken in a few places. 3) the nail fin is supposed to be behind the tin. I used to do windows, now I do alignments and suspension. You guys are all great. If you're ever in salt lake around 21st and 1260w you should stop in and see us at Alignment Specialists.
Sad you won’t be at the games, but completely understandable. Lot of time and money in your rig and you need it for the business. Not to mention, the sentimental value.

Sad you aren't going to the offroad games, but your reasoning is sound. Might I ask that you still consider coming to do a meet and greet just one of the days? Even though you aren't competing, it would be awesome to say hi and buy some merch again. I really enjoyed meeting you all last year, and it left a lasting memory on my kid. He still talks about the Fab Rats!
I think it’s kind of sneaky that Matt made the off road games more sand oriented. I guess he wanted to swing the odds more in his favor. Just saying that’s why Rory’s not going because it’s more sand oriented. Just knocking out the competition. That’s why I’ll stay with you, true fan.
