      1. Timing gear rattle which is a $6,000 repair if you want it done.

Hi, I’m loving this video and the community of posts that have followed. I just bought my 2009 Highlander limited with 95k miles for $13,950 from a private seller. The interior exterior and engine are in mint condition. The ONLY downside is it spent its life in Wisconsin and appears to have a lot of rust on the underside.
My question for @proconjon4208 is: were the replacement of the tie rods, sway bar and brakes the only thing it needed? I just bought mine last week and will be taking it in to a mechanic to get the rust damage evaluated. Just would like to hear more of your experience with the same car from the rust belt.
      Thanks!

@@haleyolsen I do still have both Highlanders. First off, we absolutely love them. I am also familiar with the third generation. But the 2009 is the limited trim level. So it has every available bell and whistle. I believe we are sitting on around 135,000 mi right now. With that being said, I do not take it to the dealer, however, I take it to the local repair shop but do the dealer recommendations. It runs very quiet. We love it. You’re gonna hate that car once the timing cover starts leaking. No way to replace it without dropping the engine cradle. That’s gonna cost almost what you paid for the car. That’s what I hate about the 3.5 Toyota in this Gen. Super common.

Just paid $200.00 for a one owner garage kept 2009 Highlander sport with 213k miles. Only had passengers a handful of times so it's literally brand new.

@@Oldbass40 wish I could post a picture for you on here lol. The story is my buddy went off the road during icy condition's and it made a bad noise from the rear end after that so he thought it was going to need major work and so did I at the time of purchase but he was planning to have it picked up my the scrap yard for $100 so I offered $200 lol.
Turns out the emergency brake bracket had broke in half and it was catching on something. I have less then $500 into it with new parts, a trailer hitch & wiring, insurance and putting it on the road 😂

@@artistnyc123 well you don't know me so you can take it as you want. As I stated it was going to the scrap yard for half what I paid for it and when my buddy found out it was being put on the road he was ecstatic! He didn't need the vehicle and it was GIVEN to him in the first place by his inlaws. Idk what you expect someone who buys something broken from you to do? Fix it and sell it back to you for what you have into it for parts and time because you weren't mechanically inclined enough to fix it? Because that sounds like a "repair shop" and if you wanted to get it fixed and then keep it I think that's where you want to go.
If you are the friend selling things and then having regrets so you blame your friends for ripping you off then you sir aren't much of a friend. No disrespect either just trying to put things in perspective for everyone reading comments. Love ya all
