  • Noida International Airport , also known as Jewar International Airport, is an upcoming international airport being constructed near Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar District, Uttar Pradesh in India, which will serve the National Capital Region (NCR). Once completed, it will be an alternative to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi by relieving its high and rising traffic load, and is planned to be India's largest airport.

The land acquisition for all the 4 phases should be done now only. We in India know what happens once some project starts, land prices will go up, residential, commercial and office spaces will get constructed right adjacent to the airport and then later on when land acquisition needs to be done, there will be huge delays and cost overruns. There will be few residentials property owners and associations which will get stay on the land acquisition and everything.
This land problem occurs in every state of India with every major development project, be it airport or highways, people will always take up the adjacent land and then later on cause problems when expansion is taken up.

@@pranaychettri9628 let me put it this way: if someone in delhi (including ncr) wants to catch a flight, it would still be vastly easier to fly through igi simply because it is actually in the city. the reason such an airport works in bangalore for eg is because it is the only option there (there's a smooth expressway and everything). still if they built an airport inside bangalore city, people would immediately switch to using that instead.

@@aviralsinghal1274 ok? And how exactly do you know that sir? Maybe you might not want it but I certainly do see the potential. Let the airport open first before jumping into bold conclusions. I for sure would use Jewar as not only will it be thousand times better than the current lackluster state IGI is in, but also the fact that it will be managed by Flughafen Zurich AG which will trump any airport in India by then, I can confidently this as i have been a regular transit passenger at Zurich Kloten many times and tbh the best airport i have been to other than Changi. Also with TATA shaping Air India into becoming a global powerhouse, it needs it's own hub without airlines such as Indigo, Emirates, Qatar and others butting in. AI Will also need to transfer it's secondary hub in Mumbai from CSIA to NMIA when it opens in a few years.

Category 3 is not for lighting of runways. It is the category of ILS used for landing by aircraft systems. Cat 3 is so good that it can provide complete instrument landing till touchdown even in zero visibility environment. Although Cat 3 specification requires sophisticated lighting systems but saying that Cat 3 means lighting system is misleading.

Well-made video with comprehensive information. But I would add that Sep 2024 is not the deadline for the completion of the airport, but it is the date for the start of the airport. So there is no doubt that it would be completed before that, as there are heavy penalties in case the deadline is not met. In fact, CM Yogi has asked the airport to be completed by March-April of 2024 and post that trials would start so that airport becomes operational from September 2024.
You could have also added that there is a spur which would link Delhi-Mumbai expressway to this Airport and approval for the metro for the airport has also been given and work for that also would start soon. And the metro for the airport would be high speed metro with max speed of 120 km/ hr similar to Indira Gandhi Airport.

Please help me understand what airlines will fly here? Are all international airlines that operate one daily flight to Delhi choosing to fly Jewar instead of Delhi? or the number of flights will double? if they double then how will it decongest Delhi? This is a big risk bet by the govt with no clear insights. The surroundings of Jewar are unsafe and will need a lot of law and order -who will deploy it? there are so many questions yet no one is asking or answering.

Also good connectivity to jewar airport will be ensured - Yamuna expressway widening, NMRC Metro extension, DME spur is approved and RRTS is proposed. Many other metros like NY, Tokyo, London, LA, Paris, Moscow have multiple international airports with significant passenger traffic.

And after completion of Metro, International traffic to many countries would shift here as Delhi Airport is already running at capacity.

It's good but seeing the amount of construction that's been going on and at what pace September 2024 seems like a tough call. I'd say March-April of 2025 would be a much realistic approach. Cause the construction process in India is very slow as compared to other countries due to everything being manually done instead of automation to create a workforce and jobs.
