15:41 The reality is even funnier. The guards are not fighting because one shot the other. They are fighting because one of them was defending the deer from the other.
Every creature in the game belongs to one or more factions (think "animals", "prey", "Bruma citizens", "thieves guild members", "goblins", etc.). There is a bug in the factions Imperial Legion Foresters belong to. Whenever a forester goes in an attack mode, any other nearby guards will consider it a criminal act. Foresters are programmed to attack deer and guards can not accept surrender from other NPCs.
There are always 2 foresters near Bruma and they are always fighting. It just works.
"Reports around Oblivion tell of random doors of inns and bars opening while John Cena's theme plays for the duration. The weird thing is, *no one saw who opened the door!* Something must be going around driving the townsfolk mad."
My favourite Oblivion spell was a custom script spell I made way back in the day. It used removeallitems and setcrimegold 1000, so everyone I cast it on ran around in their underwear while getting mobbed by guards. I had a lot of fun with that one.
Imagine just casually walking to the bar or whatever and some random dude is like "Whopsy daisy" and you are naked and get beaten by the police

@@pokeperson1000 Yep, same effect. An imperial guard was my first victim. I'm not sure about nobles, but it should be the same because guards are programmed to attack anyone with a bounty. Only the player is allowed to surrender and pay a fine or go to jail, everyone else gets executed in the streets.
Nothing breaks like a Bethesda game. This is awesome!

Not gonna lie, man, you should do more runs of any games like these. Messing around with the games as much as you can, like these sorts of runs, can be hilarious with the right commentaries and HEY you have them!

Thats also what happens to Dagon if you hit him with the Wabbajack a few times and let people damage him. Eventually it 'turns' him into a sheep or a chicken or something, meaning he loses all of his damage immunities and dies. He doesnt swap models, but his stats swap over and he becomes vulnerable to any old weapon.
My favorite premade spell is " enemies explode" from the bruma mages guild. Its 3 concentric fire bursts each does more damage the closer to the center targets are.
My favorite custom spell is to make several different feather spells with different names and long durations. If the have different names they stack. Boost carrying cap way up
That pottery smash caught me off guard, absolute peak of humor.
I feel like this whole run can be summed up in four words: _"So far, so good."_
This was amazing. The constant breaking of enemy AI never got old lmao
The dueling Imperial bowmen is a strangely regular occurrence in my playthroughs. Usually happens at least once per save file.
I love that Oblivion has spells like telekinesis. Useless for combat, but amazing for stealing stuff!! And yes, you can get 100% chameleon in game, but it takes a lot of time and luck. Console commands ftw!

I absolutely loved seeing Dagon melt again. If you've never seen it before one of the old Monster Factory videos the McElroy brothers did was in Oblivion and they had a bunch of Dagons fight an army of clones of the character they made. Between that and the Nerbit shout out at the beginning it felt like a nice little meshing of interests. Have a good week MDB.

This is by far the best ES: Oblivion video I've ever watched, including all those past challenges MDB already did on this game. The script, the ideas + creativity and editing are TOP Level.
The great thing about this video is that it has MDB's style of humor with the added challenge part, just like April's Fool Pokemon Wrestling video, even if the challenge itself isn't that much of a challenge, it's pretty neat combining those type of videos.
This was way too good. AoE Aggro spell, melting spell, and the hilarious AI at its finest made this such a treat
Your music choice for those AOE shock spell shenanigans was absolutely perfect. Love watching these alt runs. You are absolutely right about not needed any real challenge in Oblivion. My favorite runs are the ones where you're obviously having a good time, so I encourage you to do more of that (understanding that there is a need to go where the views are).

The reason the skeleton behavior changed is because you switched from melee to ranged spell. Enemies can track the origin of a ranged attack. This is why they would walk to your location. However, you were still undetectable so once they reach you they stop doing anything.
This is by far my favorite challenge youve ever done. Ever. 😂😂😂

Seeing the duel reminded me of Fallout New Vegas. I actually had a glitch where Legionary soldiers and NCR soldiers were fighting, but the last NCR soldier was stuck inside a boulder. It was hilarious watching the Legionary soldier attack the rock over and over again. As for the whole challenge, I've never played Oblivion, but breaking it looks like more fun than playing it.
Thank you for including the clip of the spy's corpse slowly rolling down the hill before faceplanting into the boulder. Peak comedy.
My favourite oblivion spell is chameleon, of course. Followed by the open lock spell and the regenerate spell :3

For a run that i expected to be a complete dud going in, that was magical and probably my favorite of them all.
Probably my favorite way to play Oblivion. The Dagon death is always amusing, and the broken detection from NPCs is the best kind of broken. 100% Chameleon let's you deconstruct everything from mechanics to story in a vanilla environment. 10/10: Most OP chaos strat

Please continue the run into the DLCs. IIRC the crystal knights in the Shivering Isles will actually swing back at you if you melee them.
My favourite spell is custom Drain Health 100 points for 1 second. If you drain enemy's health down to 0 they just die. It one-shots almost everything at lower levels.
Watching this again. I was curious how you might utilize this build for Clavicus Vile’s quest, but then I remembered her insane healing.
Also also while rewatching other oblivion runs you’ve done, I thought of these suggestions for future “challenges”:
1) can MDB beat oblivion as Mankat Camoran (might require a mod though)
2) only destruction magic or whatever school has the unlocking spell.

Never before have I seen such a blatant "I want to do an easy fun challenge" video.
And I love it.
If we count custom spells, I used to run around with a pair of spells, one with weakness to fire 100% for 3 seconds and a fire spell that did 10 dmg for 30 seconds. Cast them in that order and the DOT would end up doing like 600 damage for barely any Magicka, because the weakness effect only has to be there when the spell is applied.
I never played Oblivion, but you're right: it's the gift that keeps on giving.
This video now makes me want to play Oblivion even more

Seriously, putting in music from Guardian's Crusade and Final Fantasy VI tells me that you are a man of superb taste. Guardian's Crusade doesn't get enough love for being such a fun experience.
That short leap the NPCs do before ollapsing on the ground kills me every time 😅

I like to believe that in that field were the spy was sneaking around there was a large number of other people also sneaking, but they were much better at it.

I always liked the name of Fingers of the Mountain, even if the spell wasn't the greatest iirc. But my favorite Oblivion spells were a pair of custom spells that applied a Weakness to Magic and optionally another Weakness effect. The second one gets buffed by the first one, then I can reapply the first one which gets buffed by the second one and loop until I can one-shot the enemy, or do some other silly stuff.
Now if we were talking Morrowind, I'd say Damage Strength, since you could cast it on NPCs until their strength drops to 0, and then they'd be unable to move because they're overencumbered, so you can for the most part ignore them.
Speaking of Morrowind, thoughts on doing a challenge run of that game? That's the Elder Scrolls game I grew up on, so it would be pretty interesting to see a run of that.
The stamina spell just became my favourite. Watching people Ragdoll is hilarious

Mankar gets rendered unconscious but is still going all 'tis but a scratch' whilst being carved up like a Christmas ham.
Don't usually do the early watches but I saw the Thumbnail stuff on the Twitter and just had to see the shenanigans that led up to it. XD
I actually quite liked this. Especially if you had fun with it, I'd say more videos in this vein are in order!

The beautiful thing about a run like this is that there's no way to tell whether any oddities that occur in a single run are an effect of the 100% Chameleon or just Oblivion doing Oblivion things

My favorite Oblivion spell has to be the "drain 100 HP for 1 second" instadeath attack. Pair with a few seconds of "weakness to magicka" for later on and it'll stack up and become strong enough to kill stuff otherwise too strong for the basic spell to work against.

My Favorite Oblivion spell was a crafted one (love spell crafting. hope it comes back). I copied the mages that summon the armor and made essentially a magical girl transformation spell where I got a full set of deadric armor and a sword. Called it "Daedric Form" and used that all the time to make an "Oh shit, we're fighting closer than I'd like to" spell
