If you wanna try a NON pokemon challenge, may I suggest to you Metroid Zero Mission without using the beams (not even for opening the doors) unless it's required (for instance at the start of the game)? It could be really creative, using all the other weapons instead, and kinda hard, at least at first with only a bunch of missiles at your disposal.

My thought on the two person oblivion run is: you should do that in a series, and not a single RUclips video. I think I would like to see the reactions and the teamwork that you guys develop more than the synopsis at the end.
In regards to the Semantics question I'd say: Whenever the game outright requires you to do something that is otherwise forbidden by the rules of your challenge and there's simply no workaround, I think it's fair to let you do that, provided you stop doing it as soon as the game no longer requires you to.
I think it's fine that he does it, but for things like this where it's impossible to win without breaking the rule, then I think he needs to go more like mittensquad and just say like "I did not beat x game with x rules."

Exactly though the purpose of these videos is more so watching to see the creative approaches to problems and how he overcomes them. It would be boring if in every run he said sorry lads I can't go any further because I need cut and this pokemon can't learn it. The purpose of the video is to entertain it isn't a scientific study. I understand where you are coming from but I think you misunderstand why he is making the videos.
@@kenpenders363 The thing is in his rules he states "I can only use X in combat, but I can have other pokemon for HM purposes only.". So technically, he isn't breaking any rule unless he *wins* or influences a battle outcome with a pokemon that isn't the one chosen for the challenge.

I always just made two touch spells called “1” and “2” “1” is a one second paralyze and 100% weakness to magic and all elements. “2” is an equal amount of damage from all elements and magic over several seconds. Basically every enemy dies to a 1-2 touch.
I just made a spell called HEY MOTHER F*CKER GIMME UR LIVER and it one shots everything by draining endurance 100 en draining health 100 (because the endurance gets set back to 1 mostly and then their hp gets lowerd to 100 then the drain 100 kills them E P I C)
I use only one spell, it's called Elemental Hammer and it just nukes everything in the room with damage from every element, as much of it as i can afford. And since i strive to get stupid amount of magicka on my every character i can afford a lot. It's the embodiment of "if brute force is not working, you are not using enough of it" school of combat.
Sounds awesome! For real though I'm glad you're branching out into other games cuz while pokemon challenges are always fun, they can get more than a little monotonous after the years youve been doing them. Plus, I can tell youre having a LOT of fun branching out into other stuff, so keep doing what makes you happy!

I always liked making a spell that conjures a creature and grants me invisibility for the same duration. I usually call it "fool's transformation" or something along those lines. It's basically the Oblivion equivalent of a substitution jutsu.
Man, knowing MDB's usual issues with words, seeing him try to say the medival european fantasy names is hysterical, and him utterly giving up on Orintur and Cheydinhal is even better, even though I'm fairly sure there are voiced lines directly saying both names.
8:40 - the loot is indeed randomly generated. In fact most of the loot in containers is randomly generated and adjusted to your characters level - as is the equipment of enemies. This is probably not very noticeable during the challenges but if you do a more thorough playthrough you'll eventually end up with bandits in daedric or glass armor and insane shit like that.
I'd just like to comment that the man smiling after giving you his armor chest plate even though everything else in his life is terrible, he is happy because you took the weight off his shoulders!
i have a lot of issues w sleeping due to my mental health && i absolutely love playing your videos while i try to sleep, so these oblivion challenges are a godsend, since theyre quite long ^__^ love you man, keep it up ❤️
These Oblivion videos were actually my first exposure to the majority of this game. A lot of what I watch on this channel is pokemon (not to say the other content isn't totally hilarious) but these two oblivion challenges were some of the funniest things I had seen in a long time. I have pulled off no armor, no weapons, no magic, 'kung-fu monk' runs before in this game. Hand to Hand in Oblivion can get down right god tier powerful if pushed hard enough! Good seeing you trying more in this style!
Hand to hand is by far my favorite combat skill in Oblivion. It's not often that you get so good at punching that the game lets you know that you can hit ghosts now.
I'm loving these challenges, even moreso since you can hear how much you're enjoying the change of pace! Keep up the great work and keep the Oblivion challenges coming😁
There's so much put into these games. It's a blast to watch you have so much fun playing through and being able to learn with you how the world, enemies, and people react to a change in strategy. I hope you'll keep having fun and we can see just how ridiculous a challenge can be and still possible.
@@robertharris6092 well I agree with that too. It has more of a learning curve tho and it's not as streamlined (better for RPG experts than for casuals), but Morrowind is great and ahead-of-its-time
This should be interesting. Admittedly I haven’t played Oblivion (Skyrim was my game of choice) but your last oblivion video was fun so this should be the same. I’ve got a couple of ideas for challenges, tell me what you think: Pokemon emerald using only Magcargo (it’s the abomasnow challenge with a slower Pokemon and a region more designed to kick its ass) Pokemon platinum using only Pokemon that you can get while fishing since you get the old rod really early in that game. Pokemon Fire red only using normal type moves. You can use foresight and odor sleuth for ghosts. Pokemon Black using only Tynamo (probably the first challenge in a long time that would require items during battle) And for a non Pokemon challenge Final fantasy X-2 using only a coyote

Agent 005 the reason I say easier is just because I believe khajiit may get that hand-to-hand bonus? I forget if they do in Oblivion, but I’m in Skyrim they do
These Oblivion videos are hilarious! I love them. It's especially funny how you add clips of gameplay in to make your jokes like the deaths, NPC sounds, and other stuff. Hilarious
Couple of tips: When grabbing the sigil stone in oblivion gates, you can jump to the floor below to instantly trigger the "warp" back out. Helps when running through and not having to deal with enemies during the typical wait. Weakness to X spells have a compounding effect. Irc, there is an exploit to either do tons of damage by abusing it, or boost your stats to ungodly levels (think I'm remembering a speedrun strategy). May be worth a bit of research! Edit: I think it has to do with casting weakness to magic on yourself, and then casting a buff which then magnifies itself improperly. So 1 sec 100 weakness to magic + fortify X right after boosts pretty heavily. Stack weakness for even more abuse
@@MGX93dot Its specifically in the top room, not down the central column. The top floors (can't remember their names) are bi-level, with the sigil stone on the top floor. After activating it, if you drop to the lower level it should warp cancel. Right as you hit the floor. Though I could be confusing that with the Great Oblivion Gate.... Been a LOONG time since I played.
I'm really enjoying these Oblivion runs! I don't know much about the game so it's neat to learn about it and see all its strange quirks, and it really seems like you're having a great time. The energy feels a lot more casual and comedic than usual. I enjoy the Pokemon runs, but it's always good to mix it up every now and then.
This one has honestly been my favorite because you did so much exploring. Oblivion is my favorite game so seeing you discover things, enjoy yourself, and having a great time is so wonderful for me. I think I'll go make a new character!
A small suggestion for future videos where you do runs that allow levelling in Oblivion: Take the Thief Sign and have Luck as a favored Attribute, as well as leveling it up every chance you get. The Luck stat affects a very long list of things in the game and as such should be a priority in most playthroughs IMHO. Long story short, 40% of your luck stat minus 50 is added or subtracted from almost every skill in the game, so a starting luck of 65 (the maximum starting luck possible by doing the above) is in effect an additional 6 points added to almost every skill, as well as improving your odds in the arena and using Mehrunes' Razor. I've been loving these! You should do a hand-to-hand only run. It's funky cause it's mostly based on reducing your opponent's fatigue until they collapse. Fun fact, in Morrowind, you couldn't even do damage with your fists until they'd collapsed.
Fun fact, You can skip the entire book quest by just waiting in front of the gravestone until noon Edit: also any time you are on an escort mission and your escort is too slow, entering a door brings them with you
Regarding the Bands of the Chosen, they're like using hm slaves to get through a pokemon, without which you can't complete the challenge. Ugh, that final battle with Mankar Cameron ((First of his name, lolololol)) and his get can be brutal even when you CAN use powerful equipment and weapons, so damn good getting that OHKO on him.
Ohhh I'm SO pumped for this! This looks like a REALLY fun challenge to do, I predict the early game and some late game stuff could've been difficult, but it all depends how you played the challenge out. Can't wait to see how it plays out!

Not only do I love these big 40 minute videos, I love Oblivion so much, this game was my childhood. I remember my best friend showing me where to find Umbra and getting me to fight her. I would love to see so many more of these Oblivion videos!
I'd watch the 2 player run but I'd love to see that as a series rather than a scripted challenge. It'd be fun to see you try all the various guild questlines.

I am loving the oblivion runs. I actually wouldn't mind you branching out into other games as well as long as we still got pokemon runs every so often. Still waiting on a Murkrow only run, but I'm glad you're finally doing a run on your favorite pokemon. Just make sure youre still having fun with this whole youtube thing, from your schedule it sounds like the grind is pretty exhausting.

Hey man, big fan of your work. I've really been enjoying your foray into challenges in Oblivion. I would be interested in seeing you try challenges in many other games as well. I think the reason Pokémon resonated so much with many of us is that we've all played it. If you choose popular games for your challenges, with any luck those will go over well. Should make things more fun for you too, hopefully.
That line doesn't show a problem with the acting OR directing. It just shows that whoever was responsible for putting the recorded voice acting into the game overlooked a line and no-one else noticed.
As many hours as i've put into Oblivion, i've never heard that line. Plenty that I never explored though, like the fighter's guild, so might have missed it.
You should try to do Pokémon white with one solosis I imagine this would be easy because of solosis’s high special attack star of 105 but it may be hard because of his base speed being 20 also make it big cell as a reference to your Pokémon fire red dragon ball z team training rom hack

I’ve never picked up a Bethesda game in my life but I loved the last oblivion challenge.

Pokemon platinum using only Pokemon that you can get while fishing since you get the old rod really early in that game.
Pokemon Fire red only using normal type moves. You can use foresight and odor sleuth for ghosts.
Pokemon Black using only Tynamo (probably the first challenge in a long time that would require items during battle)

he already did magikarp so only fished pokemon would 100% be possible

Agent 005 the reason I say easier is just because I believe khajiit may get that hand-to-hand bonus? I forget if they do in Oblivion, but I’m in Skyrim they do
This gets hard at high levels, if you do it right you can take little damage but you do practically nothing to enemies
These Oblivion videos are hilarious! I love them. It's especially funny how you add clips of gameplay in to make your jokes like the deaths, NPC sounds, and other stuff.

Couple of tips: When grabbing the sigil stone in oblivion gates, you can jump to the floor below to instantly trigger the "warp" back out. Helps when running through and not having to deal with enemies during the typical wait.
Weakness to X spells have a compounding effect. Irc, there is an exploit to either do tons of damage by abusing it, or boost your stats to ungodly levels (think I'm remembering a speedrun strategy). May be worth a bit of research!
Edit: I think it has to do with casting weakness to magic on yourself, and then casting a buff which then magnifies itself improperly. So 1 sec 100 weakness to magic + fortify X right after boosts pretty heavily. Stack weakness for even more abuse
never had that happen to me, i always jumped down for fun and theres times id hit the bottom and die before the warp even finished
@@MGX93dot Its specifically in the top room, not down the central column. The top floors (can't remember their names) are bi-level, with the sigil stone on the top floor. After activating it, if you drop to the lower level it should warp cancel. Right as you hit the floor. Though I could be confusing that with the Great Oblivion Gate.... Been a LOONG time since I played.
I'm really enjoying these Oblivion runs! I don't know much about the game so it's neat to learn about it and see all its strange quirks, and it really seems like you're having a great time. The energy feels a lot more casual and comedic than usual. I enjoy the Pokemon runs, but it's always good to mix it up every now and then.

This one has honestly been my favorite because you did so much exploring. Oblivion is my favorite game so seeing you discover things, enjoy yourself, and having a great time is so wonderful for me.

A small suggestion for future videos where you do runs that allow levelling in Oblivion: Take the Thief Sign and have Luck as a favored Attribute, as well as leveling it up every chance you get. The Luck stat affects a very long list of things in the game and as such should be a priority in most playthroughs IMHO. Long story short, 40% of your luck stat minus 50 is added or subtracted from almost every skill in the game, so a starting luck of 65 (the maximum starting luck possible by doing the above) is in effect an additional 6 points added to almost every skill, as well as improving your odds in the arena and using Mehrunes' Razor. I promise you, this can be invaluable throughout the game and can be very helpful when you least expect it.

I've been loving these! You should do a hand-to-hand only run. It's funky cause it's mostly based on reducing your opponent's fatigue until they collapse. Fun fact, in Morrowind, you couldn't even do damage with your fists until they'd collapsed.
Fun fact, You can skip the entire book quest by just waiting in front of the gravestone until noon
Edit: also any time you are on an escort mission and your escort is too slow, entering a door brings them with you

Regarding the Bands of the Chosen, they're like using hm slaves to get through a pokemon, without which you can't complete the challenge. Ugh, that final battle with Mankar Cameron ((First of his name, lolololol)) and his get can be brutal even when you CAN use powerful equipment and weapons, so damn good getting that OHKO on him.

Honestly, that just shows that the problem was less the voice acting and more the directing.
That line doesn't show a problem with the acting OR directing. It just shows that whoever was responsible for putting the recorded voice acting into the game overlooked a line and no-one else noticed.
As many hours as i've put into Oblivion, i've never heard that line. Plenty that I never explored though, like the fighter's guild, so might have missed it.
