I'm visiting my family in quebec for the first time in 7 years. today, i visited saint-blaise-sur-richelieu with my Canadian aunt (i'm british) and we drove down the road that xavier drove down in the first scene of Tom a la ferme over a decade ago. i adore this man with everything in me. to think i'm around the same age he was when he begun his career is astonishing. a wonder and a gift to cinema, and to the LGBT community. lesbians for xavier!! i'm obsessed with Tom a la ferme and can't wait to fall in love with the rest of his works
On a pas fini d'entendre parler de lui tellement il déborde d'ambition et de talent. Un de mes réalisateurs préférés et un magnifique hommage qui lui rend justice, bravo !
@@strangersbyethelcain I don't really understand it either. He's such a genius. I know it's a slog, and he feels that his films aren't loved by Hollywood. But most French Directors only work in French, and their films aren't widely known by Americans, it really doesn't matter if you're an auteur like him.
i don't understand it either. i said in another comment under this video that I'm british, visiting family in southern quebec. my aunt and i drove to st-blaise-sur-richelieu and drove the road that xavier drives up at the beginning of tom a la ferme and it felt like following his footsteps and the feelings he felt while filming. it was so surreal. but i suppose that he feels he has said everything he needs to say. i suppose the only one who truly understands is xavier, and he's stepped back with films he cherishes for us to cherish them as well. but idk it makes me so sad :( you're so right though about directors, writers and actors like himself not needing that validation as sometimes their films almost exist on another level compared to the excessive-ness of Hollywood
@ericamacs3875 same :( am buying his book he promoted this week (if I get money in time ahaha) and hopefully he'll realise that people still adore his works and it was an amazing experience!!!! if you're ever around montreal, I highly recommend the trip :)
Just watched Mommy, the first one from his work. Man, it's disturbing. The dream sequence is just pheww. Never notice the aspect ratio changes during that scene.. n now I should watch all his other movies

Why did that woman kiss him? Is he not gay?
He could be bi. There is a latín filmaker (from argentina) he's straight but only make gay movies (Marco Berger).
