Thank you so much for posting this Jocelyn! I just recently started making earrings, and would get so frustrated trying to straighten the wire. I ended up wasting a lot of wire because I could not get it straight. I tried using the nylon pliers, but still ended up with some kinks. Now I know a simple, but extremely effective way of fixing this problem!
@@rhymedelacruz8552 negative people have negative opinions, I guess someone that needs step by step video instructions on straightening wire can't add up the dots.
@@s.sradon9782 there are subjective negative opinions, and there are objective ones. Never had your work given criticism by a professor or mentor? Were they always positive? Do you label your mentors NEGATIVE PEOPLE then, just because they have something negative to say about your work? I guess someone who also needed step by step video instructions on straightening wires also doesn't have enough knowledge, nor maturity, for these experiences huh?
@@s.sradon9782 also what's wrong with needing step by step instructions on straightening wires? You can straighten a wire willy-nilly but not to the point that it looks brand new and kink-free. You see, not every single knowledge in this world is common sense to people, and needing these videos is called searching for easier and time saving ways that actually produces more effective results. 😉
Thank You Greatly! I have just a few 20 guage wires that are bended badly and I wanted to save them, this video absolutely saved them from the garbage!
I'm new in the jewelry making world and have wondered what would be the best way to straighten my wire. Awesome video! Very helpful! Thanks so much AND you have a new subscriber!! 💖💖💖
That's a marvellous tip. I've been frustrated with wasting so much kinked wire whilst practising, I was even tempted to give up, but am persevering with it, so hopefully I may have a couple of decent pieces to show in the near future!! Thanks again.
in a sense it is. assuming that you have a 3d printer, basic carpentry tools, basic metaslworking tools or a knife and access to msoft pine i will be uploading the files of a basic tool to ww.thingiverse.com the tool is a part of a larger automatic machine in the works and is very simple to build and significantly more effective and precise, with the (hopefully) type of precision that allows unsupervised and completely automated winding of multilayered inductors with less that 0.05mm of angular deformation. I like engineering.
Great video. Thank you so much. I am very new to working with wire and I love your videos. They are very easy to follow and they are easy to allow for creative interpretation. :)
One step better is when you start with round nose pliers bend half way around, and then using flush cutters cut off straight part ( 1/4 of your bend ) this make all the end of your wire round.
I have just begun watching your videos and would love to try making some. My problem is the expense of really good wire. I want them to be good quality and wearable. Any suggestions? I looked on Rio Grande at the type you use.
Hi! your tutorials helped me a lot and your creations are so beautiful! I have a little question. I started using artistic wire and now i want to try dead soft silver filled wire. Is dead soft silver filled harder than artistic wire? Thanks and have a nice day! ^_^
I always seem to have to hold the wire tightly with my pliers so I usually scratch the wire, would getting nylon jaw pliers help or is there something else I could do?
Hi Phil! Thanks! It should work with hard wire; you'll just want to be careful not to overdo it with the straightening motion as it does work harden the wire slightly, so you may end up with something that's harder to work with than you want.
@@FantasiaElegance I may have to try the nylon tipped pliers as the other method only gets the Full Hard wire so straight, (there's still a curve from being coiled up so long) I guess because of the hardness. I did have marginal success with twisting the wire in a drill, but it was hit or miss and most times it was unsuccessful. Kind of a drag as I really wanted to have straight wire for this scratch built HO scale bridge i had built. The floral wire I had used was too soft and bent out of shape too easily. Thanks. Philip

so essentially this can be easily automated by feeding wire through a set of 2 V-slots, which is a passive mechanism when it can be incorporated into any mechanism where wire is already fed through a system which can spare some torque. as an engineer your technique is crude and very inefficient and the video fails to effectively convey the mechanical principal of angular deformation of wire and the reverse engineering of this principal to undo it, however all that i wanted to know was if one can straighten a length of wire without exertion of shear forces unto the wire, since a fellow comrade mentioned that only shear deformation of wire can reform it into a straight shape.

Ignore negative people & carry on the wonderful job... You have made the videos easy & straightforward.....THANK YOU XX
'ignore any opinion that disagrees with your own' this is the absolute worst advice that you could give someone; though stalin would agree.

Thanks so much I've just started working with wire .
Thank you, Jocelyn! Your videos are so well done and so helpful. I'm a newbie with wire techniques and you make everything crystal clear. Many thanks!
Straight to the point. Useful content and information, thks!
Exactly the information I needed! Thanks for this video, you make the technique look easy.

It was really helpful for me and today I started working
I really love your work :D You inspired me to make jewelry by myself
That was so much easier than I expected!! Thank you so much!! Nothing works as well as this!!
That's a very helpful tutorial , thank you Jocelyn.
I did not expect this to work so well thank you so very much!

1 thank you, I needed this video! And 2 your thumbs are adorable lol
This video helped me to fix the tiny wire in my ,13 mm rotring isograph. Thanks!
Awesome! :D
Thanks so much!! Doesn’t require a crazy tool or anything.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was pulling on it. This works great. Thank you so much!
Best tutorial 🖤🖤
You just saved me $10!!! Thankyou
The technique was very helpful, but the jewlery was gorgeous!! Tfs, have a gr8 day!
I had all this wire I was going to throw out thanks to you I can reuse.
OMG - Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 🙏🏻☺💖
literally god bless you 😩

Hi, did you ever make a video showing how to harden your wire? 2:06

If you want straight wire, clamp 1 side in a vice and on the other side hold it with pliers or similar tool and pull it fast.
Thanks!
Nice video.....Will this work with Full Hard wire. I have 22 gauge on order. Thanks.

Thank you I wish to give you a million dollars but I'm poor but thank you
Thank you, it means a lot!!
the wire is just curved becuz of the circle packaging

Look at those thumbs though! Wow! Just wow!

i just came for my headphone wires.
any dental students here ??
