You know Indian Classical singers don't use anything but Chest voice and the very RARE head voice, never falsetto. If it sounds like it, its because they're manipulating their voices to make it sound that way. As a person training in Indian Classical Music (and an Indian), I can tell you that.
Hey there! Can you tell me what is head voice?! I'd be grateful :)
@@rajatchandra3209 that's the voice which isn't exactly falsetto or chest voice. It's hard to describe.
@@rajatchandra3209 buddy.. imagine meowing like a cat... And cover the region joining your cheek and ears with your hand... If you feel vibrations while meowing... Then you're making sound in your head voice..
Same goes for chest voice..
Put your hand on your chest... And if you feel vibrations there while speaking or singing.. you're in your chest voice.. ✌️
YEAH I AGREE MOST OF THAT MIX AND POWER COMES DROM THE CHEST
BUT SHREYA IS LIKE A BLEND OF BOTH WORLDS
OP
I'm a classical singer too and gosh I don't prefer falsetto even when I'm singing english songs... It's kinda like an ego boost to be able to belt those high notes 😌😌
Anyone else realize that they havent watched tristan in a while but turns out he just hasnt posted?
He is taking a break, he will be back in some months most likely
Yea

Realized today. :( it’s been 6 months...
as someone who grew up in an indian classical music family, here's the thing: vocal runs are the easiest things to sing for indian singers, as well as for middle-eastern singers. it comes so easily for us, that i find it kind of weird why singers in the west are so impressed by vocal runs.
at the same time, we don't emphasize much on vibrato, which is why i'm absolutely BLOWN away by western legends like whitney houston whose vibrato is so freaking fast. my vibrato isnt as long or as fast as many opera-trained singers out there
Are you talking about Carnatic music? If so, I kind of liken vibrato and runs to gamakam in Carnatic music. It really depends.
@@pallavivenkatesh9989 i mean, in indian classical, there's both hindustani and carnatic right? so, yeah my family is of carnatic classical, to be specific.

Even as Indians we always take vocals for granted,we never discuss a singer's vocal range, stability, technique etc.

the last female singer is Shreya Ghoshal. She's actually singing in her chest voice. She has an incredible singing range. you'd be really impressed if you listen to some of her works.
I don't think it's chest...you can't get that kind of shrillness from chest voice
@@VeganSanatani It actually is. I'm saying this because I've seen her in person in one of her classes. Her falsetto is a lot different.
@@anushreedas1440 OOO ..wow I never thought is was possible...but wow...that's nearly impossible
@@VeganSanatani It almost looks incredible actually. Every singer's live and studio voice sounds a little different. But she is absolutely effortless. And her personality is so humbling. God bless her.

Hello, I'm an Indian. I've got some feedback to the video. You said that their voices are nasal. Well that's because the words in the language (Hindi) itself have got a lot of "nnnnng"s (nasal consonants) in them. And the female singer whose voice you slowed down to count the number of notes that she sings, that's our one of the top singers (Her name is Shreya Ghoshal)
Listen to her songs
(Pinga-From Bajirao Mastani movie,
Dola re-From Devdas movie that she sang when she was a teenager,
Saraswatichandra-Title Song of the series Saraswatichandra,
Tu Meri Dost Hain-From The movie Veer)
These are just few songs of her there's much more what she has sung!!!
thank you, lots of love ♥
You went all out...lol 😂😂😂
I'm from South India and we used to say that hindi singers sings songs with their nose
@@kunjuhibru1049 They don't. Hindi is just very nasal. I used to sing with my nose as I couldn't feel comfort singing in my normal voice and my mum used to berate me a lot for doing so.
the last female singer Shreya that you were going crazy about is the second female singer in india to hold the title of "nightingale" and that wasn't her head voice btw. in bollywood it's really rare that u see singers using their head voice.
The nasally sound isn’t really a singing technique it’s part of the words they’re singing
I wish Tristan saw this. The relevance

Well, whole classical indian music is way lot different than western classical music... The way Shreya did those multiple notes so fast is very common in indian classical music.. In fact I would suggest that you should watch classical singers like Kishori Amonkar or Pt. Bhimsen Joshi or Kaushiki Chakraborty (someone from current era)... All those singers you saw in that video were pop bollywood singers (some of them had classical music training though like Shreya Ghoshal)...

Have you heard about Italian opera? Western classical? Classical Chinese? And tonnes of different languages.
Why don't you check out DIMASH, he's world's best singer at present.
He sings in 12 languages
Plays 7 instruments

@@cranky1812 - Shreya Goshal... Also there is a music director by name Ilayaraja who has composed music for western operas... It is common these days for Indian singers to learn western music... When it comes to Indian classical music there are many varieties (from South to North and East to West and also add the regional cultural artforms to it) and each one will take years to master it - the biggest challenge would be that most of the listeners would know music well and catch you for every tiny detail that you missed or messed... The true mastery of Indian classical would be to light an oil lamp with your voice or make it rain when the sky is clear - no, no one has reached that level in the current era...

It's called "Sangadhis" in classical carnatic music (the runs you are referring to are just fast arrangement of notes and are a very common occurrence in Indian music)
Ah yes.
Adding to that, in terms of western music theory, this would not be recommended at all because during those runs, even though they are in the corresponding scale of the verse, they would instead be jumping in and out of almost all the different modes which can easily throw off a regular western vocalist.
