Shantanu Mukherjee (Shaan) is such a legend. Many people don't realise how incredibly talented and trained he is. He's got the smoothest vocal tone I've ever heard. You should definitely listen to him singing Rabindra Sangeet. It's just heavenly ❤
Hope you guys dive deeper into SP Balasubrahmanyam, Sonu actually mentioned him in the first clip! His voice defined the male protagonist in bollywood and Tollywood for decades. He has soo many gems but Jaamu Raathiri from Kshana Kshanam and Kadhal Rojave from Roja are my song recs!

Jagjit Singh is the king of Ghazal for our decades. Ghazals are melodious poetries written with feel, experience, harmony. Either you want to feel in love with or you are feeling dectached. Either you are trying to explain someone's beauty or someone's betrayal. You will find all the things in Gazal and his voice makes it live that you will feel broken even you have never ever in relationship with someone.
This whole segment is completely dead after his death, because nobody now can take his place.
This year I grabbed the most amazing oppoturnity of my life,I got to be at a live concert of Shaan at my university and god oh my god that man has next level of Magic in his voice😭❤

Sonu nigam is one of the best host and judge for these singing reality shows, exploring new takents and guiding them.. Sadly it has all turned into drama in shows nowadays but thankfully we do get good talents in them as well but judgement had deteriorated a lot .. Sonu had been one of the best critique, judge, and guide all these years from sa re ga ma pa to Indian Idol..
You should check out compilation of sonu nigam as host of sa re ga ma pa where a young sonu in his early twenties helping contestants with their music and chords like an expert that he always has been..
I would love to see your reaction on the original Junglee movie song of Mohand Rafi sahab. The song is "Ehsaan Tera hoga mujhe pe". I am sure you two would be blown away by that song.

There are many singers with beautiful & great voices in india and all over the world but there is only one singer of Sonu nigam calibre and that is Sonu nigam himself.
Efra the day you will understand Hindi you may cry listening to these lyrics.
My recommendations:
1) Hemant Kumar - start with Tum Pukar Lo and Yeh Nayan Dare Dare
2) Vijay Prakash - start with Naetru Aval Irundhaal and Gatta da Achindaaye
3) Sid Sriram - Adiye
4) AR Rahman - singing his Jazz compositions
5) Mohd Rafi - listed last because he has the longest list of mood music (soothing ones at that): Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki, Deewana Hua Baadal, Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho, Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujh Ko Bithaakar, Main Gaoon Tum So Jaao.
I am leaving Kishore out of this list because you are already familiar with him. But, if you want to know what pain sounds like, listen to his rendition of Mere Naina Saawan Bhaado.

Ali Zafar is a Pakistani singer. He came on a Indian show. He is singing one of Kishore Kumar’s song.
What Ali Zafar was trying to sing (Chhu Kar Mere Manko) and he couldn't - it's only Sonu Nigam that can do (far superior and better) justice to it when it comes to understanding melody and the emotions (example - his Dubai Live session for the same song). Trying to sing a Kishore Kumar song is like climbing Mount Everest and K2 at once...you better be prepared.

You guys need to look into Bangla music (West Bengal and Bangladesh). There are legends who sing for soul and not for fame. Rock in India was born in Bengal and still has great presence. Try, singers other than Arijit Singh, Shaan, Shreya. There are Bands as well as individual artists who are amazing. For example: Try Fossils and Cactus for Bands and Try Rupam Islam (lead singer of Fossils), Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury and Anupam Roy for singers. There are more big, mega, ultra singers which you can discover in your future journeys with us.
