I bought a 318i se 2001 model with 140bhp 2 days ago. I can tell you that thing is smooth. It was a well taken care off one, no scratches or rust anywhere not even on the alloys, full leather interior had full service history and has 72k miles on the cloak😊
My brother had a 3 door 318i on a b plate all those years ago and i remember it fondly, the accelerator pedal took some getting used to lol. Actually quite a smooth engine. He only paid about 600 for it but was the most reliable car he ever owned. Sold it on and then had a visit from the police informing us that it had been used in a raid shortly after we'd sold it. The logbook had only just been sent off so naturally we were the first port of call haha.....
Got a 2003 318i the other week, not the fastest car but more than usable power. after having a 5 series it does feel a bit slower but i love the e46 models, some nice mags dark tint, and lowwww springs = enough
Hello, i dont know what to choose, 318i facelift or 325i, i read that 320i has the same fuel consumption as 325i, i need it for city driving and for trips A-B , how about fuel consumption in 318i if i want drive economic? and what about 325i? thanks.
MasterBay I know this is a 4yr old comment but oh well, E46’s are great first cars and in my opinion way more reliable than my 1st car (E36), so do recommend it, just make sure it’s been taken care of before you buy it
It's all about your driving style. I have one and I'm very satisfied, great cruiser and very fun on backroads especially with sport suspension and a manual transmission. I do a lot of city driving and average about 7.8l/100km, however on the highway and long trips I do around 6.2l/100km (I did a 500km trip on half a tank a few weeks ago) so it's not that bad. Usually combined I do 750-800km on a full tank (including a lot of city driving). This consumption is with winter tyres that have an "E" for economy, if I get some A or B rated tyres I would be able to get it down to 7,3 and 5,7
nie wydaje mi sie, 0-100 w 9.7 sec, na papierze na ten silnik (143km) masz 9.3 sec.. moze filter powietrza ma sportowy i jakis lepszy wydech? nic wiecej..
City driving 7-8ish L/100km (30 or so mpg), mixed mine was 7.2 L and all highway driving at 100km/h is 5-6 ish (40mpg), not the most fuel efficient but it is fun to drive and very comfortable.
I do a shitload of city driving and get around 7.8liters/100km but on the highway and long trips I get around 6.2liters/100km. In general I get about 800km from a 63l tank which is not too bad
GillesCoppens it depends on the speed. its up to 5% wrong accuracy. so in 100km/h its 5km/h on the worst cars. its not allowed over 5%. so alot of car are alittle bit less than 5%. so if you have 200km/h its 10km/h wrong reading
Nie bredź. To o czym piszesz, to zwykły wiejski tuning.
I run a 318i N46, it's definitely not this fast. And if you listen to the engine note you will hear it's a straight 6,while the 318i was a 4 pot in the N46. Dude lyin his ass off
It's not even the same car. Car in this video is 2003 facelift with 143 hp engine , yours is 1999 pre facelift M43 with 118 hp engine... And he already shifts very close to 6500, I don't know what you are talking about

Who buys a 318i and gets leather seats in it.. ? I mean for the same amount of money you could get a 328i without leather :D
I love the long gearing in the E36 and E46 Beamers, lets you enjoy the engine sound for a longer time before shifting

+neg109 3 years later, was it reliable? :) iam about to buy one with 180.000 km on the clock and good maintenance history
@@ww2736 I had one a couple of years ago and as far as I can say don't buy it cost me a fortune to pay the repairs.
@@robinnicht3491 i Have bought a 1 Series now and its a good car so far.
I have this car and even though its not as fast as those other 6cyl other BMW's I really love it!

Nice :)
9.5 seconds if you measure from the exact moment he releases the clutch. First 10 km/h are not visible on the clock
Runs preety smooth and good for 318i any mods? Or downhill or? Just healthy car? 🙂
My next car will be a 2003 mod 318ci. I really love the e46 :)
I bought a 2004 318ci this year it´s a very nice car :) and not underpowered with his engine!
Nice to hear. It also have a much better fuel economy than the 320i. There are a lot of 318ci here In Norway :)
Resurrected Eagle bought a 04 318i last month.. I love it!
LovesToDrive nice to hear dude :)! e46 = love ♥
Resurrected Eagle thanks man! :) BMW = love!
8 seconds? really good!
+Sparkles GamingChannel 9 seconds and going towards 10ish more than 8.
If you are referring to 0-160 it’s about 14 seconds
it's closer to 9.5 seconds if you count exactly from the time he releases the clutch
@@Revix4 bruh, not even 325i can do 0-160 in 14 seconds. This 318i takes off a bit after 0:06 and reaches 160 around 0:31 - that's almost 25 seconds
0:07 - 0:16 Not Stock.
143hp N/A and a curb weight of 1285kg, if he launched better he could've done it even quicker.
it is not the 318i , the rev meter "red scale" is different between 6 000 and 7 000 rpm

the answer is coming very early :D For City driving is the 18i more economic definetly
The 320 and 325 has 6 cylinders. My father has 525 2001 year. Drinks about 9-10l. The 318 drinks 7-8l
Stock?
0:07 - 0:16 faster than the new 318i😂😂
The new one is wierdly heavier.
@Just DoIt It is. Do some research before commenting.
Hey man im thinking on buying one as my 1st car (318i E46)
have you had any major problems with the engine or transmission ?
Thanks for your times

its the 4cylinder 2L 318ci? the 1995cm3?
+pikeee yes. I have the same engine in coupe from 2003
E46 therefore I assume it's the 2L N42 engine
Engine rotation is go very hight . It doesnt dangerous ?? Or harmful
not if the engine oil is warm enough
nima s the m44 engine can take 7.5k rpm easy.
Matīss Nazgra its also a natural aspirated engine and means it can take more abuse because it's all engine, its not a turbo or supercharger on it
Does the BMW 318i 2004 fuel consumption ?????
Yes it does
+ez45 lmfao this made me laugh my ass off

Nah its hybrid
Sounds like straight 6 engine😁
Yeah was about to ask
wow! quite fast.. is it chipped or anything? mine is automatic :S hence the bad start.. i really like yours. Geil :)
i love bmws but my fully stock 94 d15 civic does 0-100 in 8.3 secconds?
Wheels Unlimited Not much less power and its way lighter
and you car must be light as hell which cant be compared.
Bought a 2000 model bloody lovely car so smooth to drive and plenty of power. Love it but i need spare key and there like 140£ damn..
Is this the 118hp or 140hp?
143
this is not 318.....
albo dłubnieta zdrowo albo z dobrej górki... nie ma bata.
I've been told BMW's dashboard is not accurate. Real fuel consumption is higher than the dashboard. I don´t know how the speedometer is.
+OAK usually the speedometer is 7kmh higher than you are really driving, depends on the speed to
GillesCoppens it depends on the speed. its up to 5% wrong accuracy. so in 100km/h its 5km/h on the worst cars. its not allowed over 5%. so alot of car are alittle bit less than 5%. so if you have 200km/h its 10km/h wrong reading
So much beter the 2002 318i model on wards 105kw. Alot beter than 1998-2001 only 87kw.
Pretty quick though partly due to the tank being empty but who cares it's a BMW
