one advice. go outside of Amsterdam! It is a poor representation of The Netherlands. too touristy...
Pls visit Utrecht that is quite like amsterdam with canals in the center but with a much better vibe. I would also recomend S Hertogenbosch down in Brabant There are great old buidings en an awesome church wich is used as a museum for oldscool art. (sint jans kathedral). I dont know for how long you are going to stay. but if you are here between sunday 2, tuesday 4 march 2025 we celebrate Carnaval the biggest party of the year! But you will have to go below the river that splits our country.
Below the rivers, that is where you find the best dutch people especially in Noord Brabant.
haha more easy going more love for food and parties more chill with a can do attitude... HAVE FUN EXPLORING OUR COUNTRY!!

As you can see, some Dutch people from the rest of Holland hate Amsterdam, because it get so much attention, which they would rather see directed to their own corner of the country. So the moment they hear someone on the Internet speaking about Amsterdam, they start moaning about how terrible the city is, and how much better the rest of the country is, like little children begging for attention.

Arent you ashamed on how your city is treating tourists and other dutch people. You are making your town even less accesable by removing transport infrastructure and make visiting your city less atractive that way?
Amsterdam is no longer the place with the most intenational people living there. Only tourists visit there. haha

Interesting: the Americans come up with the getto baster and now it’s a Dutch thing to play loud music in the streets?
Most people don’t dare to confront them. Generally the Dutch let people do their thing but don’t annoy others.

The first two: thank you - we have our moments ;-) Also, great marketing (the cheesy one).
The last one though: I'm sorry to hear you see not speaking up as a positive thing - it really isn't. Anti-social behaviour (yes, loud music in public is considered anti-social in the Netherlands) should be addressed. People should have gone up to that man and ask him to take it down a notch or two - I probably would have. The thing with letting it slide is that it is after witnessing this (and nobody speaking up) society cannot go back and will be stuck with this behaviour as the new normal.

Some people hate Amsterdam, because it attracts so much attention, which they would like to see being directed to their corner of the country. But this is the first guy outside of Amsterdam I've heard who not only hates Amsterdam but the whole West of the country, including cities like Rotterdam (largest port in Europe), The Hague (seat of government), Leiden (oldest university), the socalled "bollenstreek", where all Dutch tulips are grown, and the many, many other things that can be found in the Western part of the country.
