Hi Kelli, Thank you so much for sharing your journey! As an oral and maxillofacial radiologist that reads 3D scans all day long and diagnosis deviated nasal septums and sinus pathologies in the maxillofacial region, I just wanted to let you know that your testimony is so inspirational and so needed today! There is actually an entire area of dentistry that is devoted to evaluating the airway space and regularly refers patients to ENT for further evaluation and treatment when they have patients with anatomical impingements/sinus pathologies. The ability to breathe properly is completely life changing for patients and helps them to live a fuller (and safer) life. I just wanted to thank you for being brave enough to share your before and after journey. Your courage to do so can impact so many others that may have similar issues and hopefully help them to be brave enough to seek treatment as well! On a personal note, I want to thank you for what you do with youtube/nailpolish. Since I do sit in a dark room everyday just dictating away in front of large screens, you have definitely helped me to enjoy having fun looking nails - so thank you for that as well! You are truly beautiful inside and out!
It's interesting to me that there is a branch of dentistry that looks into breathing problems. One of my children was referred to a pediatric ENT by our orthodontist because of breathing problems. We had his adenoids removed, and it made it huge difference in his overall health. Breathing is important.
I’m a PA student and did a rotation at an ENT surgery clinic and also have had 3 sinus surgeries myself (adenoidectomy as a kid, then polypectomy, then septoplasty and frontal antrostomy as an adult) and it was so amazing and life changing. At the clinic seeing patients post op and how happy they were to breathe it was so amazing.
@@LizzaLee So glad to hear! breathing is so important! Impingements within the airway space have been associated with everything from ADHD and learning difficulties in children to cardiovascular disease, fatigue, depression and an increased risk for heart attacks in adults. With the advent of 3D imaging in dentistry, dentists are seeing so much in their 3D scans and are able to catch airway issues early on and refer appropriately for additional airway studies, to ENT and/or make appliances to help increase the airway space at night. In fact, studies show that people actually visit their dentist more often than their physician, so it makes sense for dentists to start looking for airway issues. There is a great team collaboration between dentists and ENTs.
@@blaah9999 That is fantastic! It really is life changing and so rewarding to see! Best of luck in your studies and enjoy! PA is an excellent profession!
@@kpodkrafts I agree, bringing awareness is great. I had this done in my 30s after more or less the same story as Kelli, and I desperately wish I could have had it done sooner, it was SO life-changing. I just didn't know I had the problem she had until I had to have a cranial CT for other reasons and a doctor said, "Wow, your septum is _seriously_ deviated, you should really do something about that." I looked at the cross section and it was shaped almost like an S and my poor turbinates were trying to find room in its nooks and crannies while my sinuses had big cysts in them. What a difference. Sometimes I'll just sit here or in bed and breathe deeply through my nose and appreciate it.
I noticed your nasal sound the moment you started speaking in this video and I noticed IMMEDIATELY that you didn't sound that way anymore after surgery. I'm excited for you!
Oh, sweetie! You've been through a LOT, but I have to comment on this: I can't believe you've been editing out your breaths in between sentences! I don't think most people understand how much time editing takes. You're absolutely spoiling your audience, and yet there are STILL jerks who come on here and criticize you, your body, how you speak, etc. These people need to look inside and reflect on what they're doing with their lives and the kind of people they really want to be. My opinion doesn't matter, but I think you look stunning. It does my heart good to see the sparkle in your eyes. ✨ I'm glad you're recovering and I'm thrilled that these changes have improved your health and your life. Sending you positive vibes for continued healing and the awakening of your senses! You sound joyful and powerful.
Omg all I could think about when you were talking about not being able to smell or breathe out of your nose is that you’re gonna have a whole new world of taste and smell once that was fixed! Wishing you healing vibes and hope your pain and life is better!!!
I honestly can't believe I didn't even consider that my sense of taste could change! But omg. Food is so much more delicious than I ever knew LOL! Thank you so much!
Something about this before and after and how it changed the game for you makes me want to cry! I love your outlook on the future and also your radical self acceptance before, during and after. You are such a rock star and we all are so happy you are healing! ❤️🩹
Omg i was welling up too! You’re so brave Kelli! It’s looking great and its wonderful to hear how your taste & breathing etc has improved! Take it easy & happy continued healing! ❤
your new nose is BEAUTIFUL!! and your voice does sound different (in a good way)! it sounds clearer now. i'm so glad you're happy with your decision to get the surgery. it was painful but man now that you're on the other side it's gonna be a fun year trying all your favorite foods again and smelling things like candles, soaps, lotions, flowers, etc. it's like experiencing them for the first time. i hope the recovery continues to go well. enjoy food! enjoy sleeping in whatever position you please! ENJOY BREATHING!!
New yoga teacher here and I hate hearing how people have been treated by other yoga teachers when it comes to basic things in a class. Like you can breathe however you want! We actually talked a lot in my training about how breathing cues can actually make people more anxious or trigger trauma responses, so you can suggest it, but forcing the entire class to do it is unprofessional IMO. I don’t even always do what a teacher tells me bc sometimes my body needs diff kinds of breathing. So, I'm happy the surgery is over and you're healed, and hopefully you can breathe comfortably however you want now! 😊
Oh gosh yeah I think I just had bad luck with yoga instructors because I remember one of them prided herself on being a "harsh" instructor (aka mean lol)... I didn't last long in that class hahaha
I've never been able to do "breathing exercises" that tell you to "breathe in for x seconds and out for y seconds." It makes me feel like I'm drowning and once I gave myself a panic attack 😖
I agree 100% and thank you @jampsoon1826 for saying that!! I've given up on yoga because almost pass out from lack of oxygen or as other mentioned... panic attack! Yoga is supposed to relax. Maybe I'll give it another try with my body telling me how to breathe!!
You do sound a very very slightly bit clearer. But you're right, I'm also from NJ. Born and raised until 21. So I also have a slightly nasally voice, and there was nothing wrong with my nose to my knowledge. That's just how people talked there if they were born and raised there lol. My mom sounds that way, my sister sounds that way. I'm glad you can breathe better and taste better. I'm really happy for you. :)
OMG! My son is having the same surgery in a couple weeks after having consistent ear pain for YEARS. So glad to see someone else who has some experience though I’m sorry you had to go through all of this. Wishing you the best and easiest recovery! Please update!
Emily from Snake Discovery had the same surgery, she did a before and after smell test on her channel. After decades of keeping snakes she discovered snake poo smells, so I guess it was successful. 😊 She did some filming about the op as well if you're interested.
Function over cosmetic is no contest. Function is so muck more important and so worth it. The first few times you blow your node do so very gently. Im so glad you had a successful outcome.
Yes! I’ve accidentally given myself nosebleeds by blowing too hard, so Kelli definitely start very gently, especially while recovering! Also yeah the nose looks a little wider, but she seemingly didn’t have to compromise on cosmetics because she is equally as gorgeous as before 💖 Honestly I was nervous clicking on the video because of how delicate and important the face and head are to bodily function but also cosmetics, but I’m glad she seems to be recovering fabulously so far!!
I remember thinking, "how can you be such a foodie without a strong sense of smell?" As someone with an excellent sniffer, I have always credited my nose more than my taste buds for enhancing food enjoyment to its fullest, so I am over the moon to hear your taste has improved! Go, taste all the things, eat all the food! Its one of the best parts of LIFE❤🎉 I'm so happy for you, and I'm glad you're feeling better.
You look amazing! Gorgeous as always, but also you're exuding happiness. It's like a weight has been lifted for you, and I'm so happy to see you feeling good and looking so darn great!
Oh gosh thank you!! It really does feel so incredibly different, I didn't expect so much to change from what seems like such a tiny part of my body LOL but I feel like a whole new person!
I couldn't breath through my nose at all as a child, the ENT told my parents I would grow out of it, so I didn't get any surgery. Technically I did grow out of it. I can breath through my nose as an adult, but I'm convinced that I never developed all the brain pathways for smell. Because, even now, I can't smell half the things other people point out at all, and I the things I can smell I don't necessarily find pleasant/unpleasant in the same ways other people do. I also can't identify specific scents to save my life. I'm glad you're so happy with the outcome! I think that some doctors take being low-intervention too far and I think the ENT who told you that you were just getting older is one of those. You're quality of life is improved by this surgery, therefore it was a necessary surgery! I'm also glad that you were able to take the healing time you needed!
Gosh the internet is so harsh! Personally I’ve never noticed any of those things that “bother” others when watching your videos. So glad that you’re on the other side of surgery and recovering well. Hope things just go up from here! Also for strong smells, esp swatching, highly recommend a good air purifier that has a charcoal filter!
@@KelliMarissaVlogsI'm going to assume that nail polish, like other paints, gives off dangerous fumes called VOCs (volatile organic compounds). An air purifier that specifically says it reduces VOCs would be a great idea for both your comfort and health
Kelli, I am a 74- year old fan of yours. This is such an amazing story..you are so brave and positive, and I wish you a speedy recovery and happiness in the future. Thanks for all your informative videos. You are a delight!
@@KelliMarissaVlogs Absolutely! I’ve gone a brief period of my life without a sense of smell (due to a completely different nasal surgery), and a lot of foods just taste like nothing without scent. I hope you enjoy your new food journey and it makes up for how painful the surgery was! ❤
The joy I saw when you were talking about tasting food was so heart warming! I only had my nose pierced and that took a year to not be sore, so it’ll be nice to get updates as you continue to heal.
Kelli! My heart dropped when I saw the thumbnail. No idea you went through something so serious 😢 I haven't finished watching the video yet.. but I hope you're feeling so much better physically & mentally 💕a
To be honest it was incredibly painful but now that I'm almost healed I am SO SO grateful I was able to get the surgery because it's already changed my life!! ❤️❤️
I'm so glad you went forward with it. My son had similar surgery and it has been a life-changer. He still occasionally smiles for no reason just because he can breathe. You know, you own your home now. You could (in the future) look at getting a vent in your office. If you don't want something permanent, you could use a portable vent like they use for resin printing and soldering. Something to consider, if you don't adapt. I'm behind on swatch videos because I was studying for my AWS Cloud Practitioner - which I got, so now I can go back and look at all the pretty, pretty nails. I'm excited.
Ooh congrats on your certification!! 🥰 and I really can't believe how life changing it's been after only a month, I'm so excited to go out and smell and taste everything lol I feel like a whole new person!!
Awwww.....Kelli. My hubby had the same surgery a few years back. He had broken his nose playing football and could never breath properly after. Not a fun surgery but totally worth it!! You'll be able to breath through your nose again!!! Wishing you a quick and smooth recovery.!! I love you and your channel!! Feel better!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Honestly neither did I 😂 I need to call up that first doctor in NJ and tell her she probably shouldn't have told me I don't need surgery, because I definitely did LOL. I can't believe other people have been tasting this much food their whole lives 🤣🤣 I need to catch up!
Omg when u were talking about how the scented iscreamnails didnt have a scent I was so confused bc I have them n its super apparent like same with the sinful colors bath scented ones, like so very apparent, n u couldn't smell them at all. Taste and smell are so connected, I've always had an insanely strong sense of smell and when I quit smoking it intensified sooo much along with taste.. im so happy ur able to smell n taste way better now ❤ its such an important thing that might not seem like its a big deal but it really makes such a difference in your mood n how you feel day to day
HAHA omg the scented nail polishes... Yeah a lot of people told me the scents were super strong and I was just like "hm I don't smell it!" 😂😂 I probably should have known back then that my nose wasn't working.
I have to get this same surgery so I really appreciate this vlog! Helps me know what to expect. As always thanks for sharing! Always nice "hanging" with you in your vlogs!
Oh gosh I hope I don't scare you off haha but I promise it was worth it!!! I know people who have had similar surgeries without having to get the sinus surgery and they said it didn't hurt at all so I think the painful part was the sinuses, hopefully you don't have to do that one lol!
@@KelliMarissaVlogs No worries! I've been prepared for the surgery for awhile. I've been putting it off for a year because I am also scared of surgery but I know a relatively short amount of time being in pain is worth being able to breathe through my nose for the rest of my life! I had to get my tonsils out as an adult so I feel fairly prepared for the pain/weirdness after surgery. I think my sinuses are in good shape but we will see haha. There was a long list on what needed to be fixed in my nose :(. Also it's so funny hearing what we deal with/think is normal and when we talk about it our friends are like "uhh that's not normal." I can totally relate to the weird sensation of being able to smell the inside of your nose lol!! I'm so ready to be able to use my nose fully and your video is very encouraging! Your results look great and I love your new hair color!
I was listening to all this and saying yup to so much of things, because I had so much issues with my Sinuses most of my life. I was always having sinus pain and sinus infections and sinus headaches like everyday. I was living on Tylenol Sinus like every day. I was constantly going to the doctors and on antibiotics. Then finally the ENT said that I also needed surgery. My middle son was i think about 1 or so and that way the best thing that I could have done. I also couldn’t breathe through my nose or taste things. Ever since i had the surgery, I can breathe through my nose, I haven’t had a sinus infection since. No more allergies or colds either. It was a miracle. I am 48 yrs old now and my Middle son is 23 now. It has been 22 years and I tell everybody who has issues too talk to their dr about doing it. My ENT said that the sinus in my forehead was block up like cement and I had a slight deviated septum. I do still have a slightly sensitive nose if I hit it or something. I usually don’t blow my nose very often unless I am desperate though because my ears block up. I hope you continue to heal really well and have no issues. I am so very happy you went through with it. Your going to feel so much better Kelli. Love you honey. God Bless. ❤
I haven't made it past the intro yet but paused to say I'm so sorry people made those comments back in 2019. You would honestly think in this day and age people would know better than to comment on anyone's body. I always say if you can't see the head crowning, don't ask someone if they're pregnant! 😂 I know comments like that have stuck with me for many years - you are brave for being on RUclips and I tip my hat to you! 🎩😄
Oh gosh thank you haha! Honestly I know they didn't mean to be hurtful with those comments but I do agree, I don't think there's any reason to point out someone's weight gain or really anything going on with their body (unless they specifically ask, I guess haha!)
Holy hell girl, what an ordeal you've been through! Took me 51 years to realize how grateful I should be that my nose works just fine 😳 Definitely won't be taking it for granted any longer. Hoping your recovery becomes easier by the day; hearing how excited you are about all the restaurants just put a huge smile in my heart! Oh, and big thanks to Ryan for taking good care of you!
I'm so glad the surgery went well and that things are better for you now. You look beautiful as always, and I don't hear a big difference in your voice. Still calming and soothing. 🙂 It is concerning though that a medical professional told you that we just can't sleep on our sides without ear pain after 30. That is bananas! Yikes! Thank you for sharing your experience and I hope you get to eat all the delicious things.
I had a deviated septum caused by an overgrown middle turbinate. It was also pushing on a nerve, so it felt like a constant headache. No amount of pain reliever helped. Breathed thru my mouth for at least 20 years. Got it fixed and it was phenomenal! They removed calcified bone in my sinuses. It hurt, but when it was all healed, not only could I breathe thru my nose, but the headaches stopped and I could SMELL all the smells! You're going to be so happy you did this!
My son had the same surgery for deviated septum, polyps removed from his sinuses and nose + cleaning out his sinuses from years of infections. Recovery was easy. He’s on allergy/steroid spray everyday since surgery 4 years ago. He could never blow his nose either.
Yay Kelli! I am so glad that your quality of life has improved from getting this surgery! Breathe deeply, sleep soundly and enjoy smelling and tasting everything for the first time, again! So happy for you!!!
First of all, welcome back! Second… if anyone says anything mean or negative about the change, you have our permission to immediately block them! ❤ I’m sorry you went through so much pain. Even more so I’m sorry you’ve had to endure a life without being able to breathe properly! I’m tearing up thinking about all you’ve been through but then how you’re experiencing things like food and discovering the joy of life through it! I have so many things I’d love to say but mainly, just super happy you’re doing better and healing well. You’ve put out spectacular content and I love you and your videos no matter what you look like. (Loving the red hair by the way!) sending you huge hugs! ❤❤❤
Oh Kelli, those pictures of you post surgery 😭 i can't imagine what you went through. I'm so glad it was worth it for you though. And for what it's worth, your nose looks good. Different but it suits your face ❤
They like telling you everything is because you are aging and getting older. That's crap it's not all about age. They are doing a knee replacement surgery on me soon, so scared about it but I need to do it there's too much pain. So glad you are doing good
Yay! So glad the surgery went well, that you’re healing, and your quality of life is improving! Fun fact: I actually get intense ear pain when I sleep on my side. It’s from the pressure on the ear cartilage for an extended period of time. It’s called auricular chondritis. One potential cause is sleeping on your side and it is more common when you get older. The earache pain goes away for me after slowly moving my cartilage around to “wake” it up. I wonder if your original ENT just mistook the type of pain you were referencing. Also the hair looks amazing! I really love the warmth and depth it brings!
I had a double deviation repair 3 years ago. I had the same weird, "I can smell the inside of my nose" thought for about 3-ish months 😂 Just wait til you get a cold...even when I'm "stuffy" I can still breath thru my nose and not feel like I'm suffocating!
I am so glad you're on this side of your recovery! ❤ The numbness may eventually go away, but when those nerves wake back up, it feels like electricity a little bit. (At least, that's what my bellybutton felt/feels like.) I had two major surgeries in 2022 & 2023 (a year apart) & had 6 additional procedures in 2023. I had a hysterectomy on 12/27, so we had very few Christmas events due to avoiding people. But, hitting that deductible & not having to pay for the $94k surgery was clutch. I'm 5 weeks post-op now & ✨still✨ recovering. Something that is really frustrating is how nonchalant people treat recovery. Especially if you don't "look" or "act" sick. Like, I had a major organ system removed, no I'm not "better"after X number of days. 🙄 Your hair looks really cute! I like the wine brown/dark purple! 🫶🏻
You are still early on in your recovery, so please don't let anyone (or yourself) convince you that you aren't allowed to REST and relax!!! Some people in my life laughed when I said I was taking a month off from filming just for my nose (which compared to a hysterectomy is no biggie!) but people really underestimate how long it takes to start feeling back to your normal self after a big surgery! I promise I'll keep you entertained during your recovery process haha, I also kinda love that we had a bit of a recovery journey together because we got to catch up about it in the comments haha!
@@KelliMarissaVlogsWe did! You have no idea how much I have enjoyed your playlists these past few weeks. I thought I was going to sit in bed & read or sit & do my nails, but I've needed to lay down (a LOT), so RUclips has been my best friend! (I can't read without my glasses & I can't wear them laying down.)
I had a hysterectomy in 2021. I was off work for six weeks, dr's orders. About two weeks in, my MIL came over for something, looked at me, and said, "You look like you're fine. You could go back to work." I reminded her I had an organ removed and according to the dr was still actually recovering. She looked at me like I was making excuses. I still had a lift restriction and was taking daily naps. You're going to feel a LOT better here in a few weeks!!!
@@stephaniemoulton that sucks! My husband has been so great, he gets just as frustrated as me when any says anything like that bc he knows how weak I am. It's absolutely wild to me when it's a woman that does it too. Like, um, sis! At two weeks, I was still on bed rest! I had my 6 week post OP yesterday & my Dr extended my recovery out 6 more weeks. She wants me to regain my strength before I try to jump back into life & hurt myself. Thank you! Every hystasister I've talked to has said the same thing about the timeline. It takes time!
So happy for you and your recovery! I cried watching this because my husband had the EXACT SAME surgeries last Oct. He was having all the same issues and I was finally able to convince him to see an ENT. His recovery was painful as well bc they had to do a bit of reconstruction as well and removal of the sinus cyst was extensive. But when he started recovering and the swelling started subsiding he was like, “holy crap I can breathe through my nose! … omg I can can smell stuff… omg food is delish! I was so happy for him! So to hear you say the same things made me cry of joy for you bc I can only imagine the wonder you felt in experiencing all this new “smells” and everyday things u never knew u were missing!! Anyhoo… didn’t mean to make it such a long comment but just know I am so happy for you!! By the way… u look fabulous as always. The change is so slight but please know that you look as beautiful as always!! Life is just more beautiful now bc you have all 5 senses working fully and isn’t that a blessing that makes it all worth it!! Prayers for continued healing and congratulations again on your successful surgery!
Kudos to you for sharing this incredibly personal experience and journey. My daughter had to have sinus surgery and it is so difficult. You're super brave. Thanks for hanging in on RUclips and creating content ahead of time for all your fans. I am so super happy for you that you can breathe now! Prayers for continued healing and speedy recovery. Great to have you back in (almost) real time!
I've had continual sinus issues going on almost 4 years now, culminating in back to back sinus and ear infections. My ENT has mentioned surgery several times and I've been so scared that I am unwilling to discuss it with him. Thank you so much for your honesty about the pain, but more importantly the amazing improvement in your quality of life. If anyone like me had any fears of surgery, your experience can help someone make more informed decisions. So happy you had such a great outcome and thanks again for your honest experience.
I'm glad to give you any sort of insight you're looking for! Honestly it's only been a month so far but the results so far DEFINITELY outweigh the pain/discomfort - the pain really only lasted for a week or so and aside from that it was just waiting for the bruising to go down! I really recommend going for it, I bet you'll wish you had done it sooner too lol!
Omg I totally understand what you mean about your body part not feeling like it’s yours. I broke my wrist in 2022 and when I took my splint off for the first time after surgery, looking at my hand gave me the most uncomfortable feeling that I was looking at someone else’s hand! It must be a million times weirder for your nose! But man I am so happy for you! Hearing you say you’re so excited to taste all the food made me tear up a little, not gonna lie. The hard part is over so now you can truly enjoy!! ☺️
Being able to smell and taste where you couldn't before is gonna be life-changing. That's amazing. Also getting it done after you met your deductible is absolutely mint. The one year I met my deductible I went to all the doctors and had all the elective procedures done. Lol.
Gosh! I noticed your nasal voice, but I never thought you were in pain sometimes. I'm so sorry, but we're happy, now it's over and you can breathe better. You looked and sounded beautiful before, now it's even more. God bless you, you're very nice and lovely, things will be better now and your face is always beautiful 🤍
So frustrating that you had to deal with all those naysaying doctors! And what is with people making intrusive comments like you spoke of. Ugh... I'm so excited that you finally get to experience things that we all take for granted. Best wishes 💜💜💜
I’m glad it all well and you’re healing! Your voice did change and it sound a like you, but clearer. Like before it sounded like you were about to get or getting over a cold, now it sounds the same minus that.
My hubs had his septum straightened a few years ago, and they even found a bone spur hiding back there, and he did really well. Good luck on your surgery. 😊
Hi Kelli! I just wanted to let you know that you were beautiful before surgery and beautiful after surgery. I think the new nose suits you. I'm so glad you can breathe, smell and taste better. That must be so exciting. Also, I don't think you sound any different. I always just assumed it was your accent I was hearing. But even if it does change slightly once the swelling goes down, I'm sure you'll have a nice voice. Thanks for being so open about your journey. Wishing you all the best.
I'm so happy you got the help you needed! It's beyond frustrating finding the doctors that actually help you (been there!). I can't imagine how much you suffered up until now. You look FABULOUS!!
I am so so so grateful to have found the ENT that ended up doing the surgery, he really is incredible and it felt like he really HEARD my issues and wanted to fix them!! Thank you so much 🥰🥰
I'm happy you were able to successfully have your surgery. Here's to better days ahead and smelling and tasting a whole new world.🥂. I had a major sinus and septum surgery in 2020 and never realized how hard it was to breathe out of my nose before. I just had a turbinate shrinking today, and Wow what a difference it's made.
Wow, what a story. I was so touched by your description of smell and improvement of taste... Smelling is such an underrated but highly valuable sense! Your nose looks cute, and your voice does sound better. It's a subtle change, but it's nice. I can't believe you lived like that for so long, with all the breathing limitations. I'm sure that you learned a lot from this whole experience, but hopefully one of the biggest lessons is to always, always advocate for yourself in medical situations. Be the squeaky wheel, keep inquiring until you get answers, and if they won't give you a satisfying answer, get another opinion... Live and learn, right? Wishing you all the best in your recovery 💜🩹
I am so happy for you! I was a little bit 🐔 to watch this right away, because...surgery. But I'm glad I finally did, and thanks for sharing your experience. I am dumbfounded that the one doctor told you it was normal not to be able to sleep on your side after a certain age. 🤦♀️
God Bless you Kelli....I've had sinus surgery before and it was indeed the absolute worst ordeal of my life also. The pain alone was excruciating. I feel so bad for anyone that has to go through that. It really is awful. I'm so glad you're doing better. ❤
Your fixed nose is so cute even though it's a tad swollen still! Beautiful before an after surgery. I hope recovery continues to go well and hope that your nose functions a lot better ❤ That is amazing that food tasted a lot better. A great perk to breathing well lol I love the smell of nail polish but definitely strong! Can give you a headache after a while.
Your voice has changed a little but not anything major!☺ What would happen when you would cry before the surgery? You did not have any issues with your nose or maybe you have never cried? So glad that everything went well and that you are on the mend🤩
Oh gosh I cried a lot before surgery too haha! My nose would run when I was crying but nothing too crazy, I just had to wipe at it a lot instead of blowing it😂😂 now I have been trying my best not to cry because while my nose is still healing, it's causing nosebleeds LOL!
So happy for you! Your voice definitely does sound less nasally, for what it’s worth. Not a good or bad thing in and of itself, but certainly a good sign in the context of all of the ACTUAL health concerns. You still sound like you, just without the nasal overtones. Hope your recovery continues to go well! Edit: Certain vowels are more noticeable than others. The way you say the word “have” is maybe where I hear the difference most.
The wonder and awe in your voice and on your face when you were describing how it felt to really smell things for the first time - your surgery was worth it iust for that! I breathe almost exclusively through my nose, so I can't even imagine not being able to - to me, breathing through my mouth is the one that feels weird lol. Your "new" nose looks great, and I hope the recovery (and discovery!) process continues to go smoothly!
My husband needed a similar surgery a few years ago! Deviated septum with multiple polyps - I remember after the surgery he just kept saying how incredible it was that he can fully breathe, and that he didn't realize how bad it actually was until he was all better! So so happy that you are taking care of it and making your health a priority ❤
Sooo happy you were finally able to get relief!!! I’m sorry it seems like that one doctor mislead you years ago. Can’t wait to see you fully up and at em again, but take your time and come back when you’re fully ready!!
Welcome back Kelli! You look absolutely beautiful as usual and what an amazing new life you have been given now that you can breathe properly and smell and taste stuff! I'm genuinely excited for you ❤ I would (and do) panic if I can't breathe through my nose, so I always have nose sprays in stock 😂
Haha! When I was getting ready for the surgery, I watched a lot of vlogs of people's experience and everyone said the worst part of recovery was having their nose covered/packed and not being able to breathe out of it, but I felt totally fine breathing! I guess I didn't realize that I NEVER breathed out of my nose until they removed the cast LOL!
You do look a little different, still as beautiful as always though. You sound a little different too, but I think like you said it's just bc you can speak more clearly now that you can use your nose. I'm so happy it was a success for you! I have always had a really good sense of smell, and it definitely makes the food experience so much better! I'm so glad you get to experience that and smelling pretty candles and things too!
You're so brave and I hope you recover quickly and get to enjoy everything you want to. I'm sure you'll be fine, you're a champ and you have your loving husband and friends by your side. You look fabulous. I like the new hair
I had pretty much the same thing! my right nostril was ok, my left was practically closed off because of collapsed cartilage from breaking my nose twice. i dreamed of a nose job and didn’t even know i had septum issues until my surgeon showed me an internal picture. you’ll probably be swollen for honestly up to a year, maybe even more. i also was told not to sneeze out of my nose so now i’m in the habit of sneezing out of my mouth which sounds insane. had surgery 4 years ago and it was THE best thing i’ve done. i would do it again 1000x. recovery was cake and we went from the hospital to panera right after. i hope you recover fast and DO NOT get discouraged if you don’t like it at first! please feel free to ask any questions it’s like, my favorite thing to talk about because of how much it’s changed my life
This is incredible! I cannot imagine what a life-changing experience it must be to gain a sense that you’d been missing your entire life. I’m just so happy for you! 🤗 One of my favorite smells is the smell of new books. And fresh bread.
I had the same issues about 8 years ago and had a balloon sinoplasty, septoplasty, and a turbinoplasty all at once. The only uncomfortable bit was the recovery with the splints from the septoplasty. But it's been fantastic since because I can breathe so much easier and I rarely get sinus headaches anymore and when I do it's much easier to treat. I hope that you feel much better.
I'm SO glad it worked out for you!! i was told by an ENT a few years back that I should get surgery but because my deviation isnt aaaaas bad, it's optional (but recommended). however as i got older my sinus issues have increased & i've tried many things and no luck but this surgery still terrifies me to this day!! I don't do well with blood & cleaning bodily fluids so that part of healing scares me haha, and i also don't do well with pain, and I like my nose so i'm scared theyd reconstruct it and screw it up LOL. but you talking about being able to breathe now and taste food better and everything oh MAN it's making me want to maybe be brave... also funny enough I had the same confusion about people being sensitive to nail polish scents LOL now I guess I know why. I wonder what I'm missing out on especially also as a foodie and a fragrance addict but im still so scared of the entire process and pain lol 😥🥺 also yes pls update about it in a few months!! or even a year from now! i always love to hear how life-changing surgeries are in the long-term :) sorry for the long comment lol but I'm glad youre back and smelling/eating well! edit: OH were you able to wear glasses with the nose... padding thing on at all?
I'm so happy for you!! I feel so bad you had experienced life without being able to do all the things "nose breathers" can LOL And for so long! That's crazy! Being able to smell things and taste food so much better must be amazing to you! And I cannot imagine those ear aches just from side sleeping! I cannot sleep on my back. WOW, Kelli. So glad you are through the worst part of the pain and trauma and well into recovery. Your nose (and face) looks beautiful! While you still look like you, I feel that repairing your nose has positively enhanced the whole shape and structure of your lovely face. And your doe eyes look even brighter and fuller than before. Just gorgeous! Bravo to your surgeon/s. Much love to you and wishes for smooth recovery and healing and enjoying life to the fullest, tastiest and most fragrant it can be! 🥰🌺💕
So happy for you. I also have trouble breathing through my nose because my nose is too narrow. It causes me to snore, which gives me a sore throat every day. It also makes doing any physical task really hard because I can't get enough oxygen through my nose when my heart rate increases. Glad your recovery went well and your new nose looks perfect.
Congrats on your surjourney! I've probably been through half a box of tissue from allergies and high pollen today, but knowing you couldn't breathe at all through your nose is wild, and I will not take for granted my own natural ability to breathe through my nose when I'm able to again! Also, I wonder if your taste in perfume and fragrances in general is going to change now that you can really smell them.
Your gums are going to be so much healthier! I had mouth breathing issues due to allergies, and when they improved, so did my dental health. Good luck in your ongoing recovery.
I am also glad to hear you’ve come through such a major operation with a good outcome. I can’t think of many people who could make discussions of nasal breathing and blowing one’s nose charming, but you’ve managed it! I am here for your updates and new discoveries as you continue healing!
I think it looks great even with it being still a little swollen! I am so glad you recovering well and being able to taste and enjoy food. I hope this helping you sleep better too!
Well done Kelli ! Congrats on your new sense of smell and taste. So happy for you. You'll see how as the months pass you will forget how hard it was but how worth it. ❤🎉😊
Hi Kelli, I am so glad for you that this big surgery is behind you! You are so brave. Thanks for sharing your journey. I am so glad for you that you can breathe and taste!!!!!!
Oh Kelli I can’t even fathom not being able to breathe through my nose or blow my nose 😩 I’m glad you were able to get this surgery and it’s improved these (plus more) issues! And your voice sounds the same to me (and not nasally) 🙂 If you do an update in the future I am interested in a side by side photo comparison because I really don’t notice much difference about your face either 😅 Here’s to fully healing 🥰
I’m so happy to see you again! And so glad the hard recovery days are over. ❤ Hope you and Ryan eat lots of good food so you can savor all the flavors!!!
Happy to have you back. As someone with bad allergies I have no idea what my life would be like without blowing my nose 🤧 Wishing you a full recovery. Much love!
You are a Rockstar!!!!❤ Thank you for sharing! It's as if you are learning to taste and smell for the first time!!! I'm just starting the journey! I'm such a wimp when it comes to pain!!! Congratulations!!!!✌🏼🥰💖🙌🏼
My dad had to have surgery on his sinuses when I was young, and he couldn't smell anything before the surgery either. I remember that the recover was rough but he could smell again so it was definitely worth it. I'm glad you're on the other side of that! I think the new shape of your nose really suits your face, you're so pretty!
My daughter had the same surgery you had, also with the ear cartilage removed to build up the nose. She was miserable in the recovery process as well. In the end, she said it was all worth it. Her nose swelling finished "settling" around the six month mark. I can tell your voice is not as nasal sounding as before the surgery. You will probably get better sleep quality from the improved air flow. Congrats on improving your nasal function!
I’m pretty new to your channels, but I am so happy for you! (And pretty ragey at your previous blasé ENT, from a 40+yo side sleeper.) I’ve had sinus issues related to allergies in the past, and I think I’ve got some minor nasal issues (fellow mouth breather with a terrible sense of smell lol), but nowhere near as bad as you’ve experienced. I really hope you find relief as you continue to heal, and eat all the amazing food! I also just bought my first Cirque Colors polishes thanks to your videos, including Ethel and Venetian Sky. Can’t wait to try them!
Ooh I can't wait for you to try the polishes too haha!! You'll have to let me know what you think 😋 yeah, I can't believe I listened to that other ENT, she clearly didn't want to help me LOL!
@@KelliMarissaVlogsI really love both shades! I’ve never met a purple I didn’t like, so I was not surprised that Venetian Sky was gorgeous, and I love the contrast between the warm and cool tones. But Ethel really took my breath away - after watching enough of your vids, you’ve turned me into a green girlie! I love the colour shifts, and it captures the colour and texture of poker table felt 😍
I'm so glad that you're recovering well. You look beautiful as always! When you said the part about realizing what you've been missing out on with your taste...it hurt my heart a little. When my youngest son was 4 we found out that he needed glasses and had always seen things blurry all his life. When he first put on his glasses and asked "Is this magic", it hurt my heart. When you said that, I felt the same way. I'm so happy that you're now getting to have all these new experiences with the taste of food. This may sound weird, however, you LOOK like you can breathe so much better. Best wishes for your continued recovery. I don't think your voice changed much at all.
I'm so happy to hear that your surgery has had a positive outcome, even if it was a bit of an ordeal going through it! I've been thinking of you while you've been "away" and hoping everything went okay. Here's hoping your recovery continues smoothly :)
I'm so glad the surgery went well and you're on the mend. Also, all the new life features you've unlocked by having your nose issues fixed sound so cool! Feels like a game character upgrade, but in real life 😄
People from Indiana are known for having a nasally twang but really it’s because we are in a valley, Ohio River Valley, and the air can be very stagnant with a lot of allergens and humidity, so people here are constantly getting sinus infections and stopped up noses. I also get a lot of polyps in my nose and sinuses. I am happy that you are feeling better.
Oh I’m so glad you can breathe through your nose now! As someone with a super sensitive sense of smell, I always feel sorry for people who can’t smell so I’m also glad that you can experience the world more fully now! You look great, the “new” nose suits you and I definitely hear a difference in your voice, it’s much less nasal. (I always liked your voice but it just sounds like you can breathe better overall)
I definitely hear a difference with some words that used to make me sound sick haha, I am curious to see how my voice improves as the swelling goes down more!! And I'm excited to go out and smell everything lol
So sorry you had your experience the pain part. I had nose surgery for skin cancer, lost the tip of my nose reconstruction from my ear. For a while the ear hurt worse, the swelling in my face sounds like yours. It was crazy sitting up to sleep. So happy for you that it worked and you can breath and experience taste. Totally worth it!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
14:33 I can hear it in your voice! Your voice had always been clear to me but there's this new level of additional clarity to it now!
I'm glad you're recovering and I'm thrilled that these changes have improved your health and your life.
Omg Kelli reading this made me tear up! ❤️
@@KelliMarissaVlogsdo you have a favourite new food or a food that tastes amazing to you now? So so glad you’re feeling better!
@@KelliMarissaVlogshahaha how is that nail polish smell? the food thing is such an awesome perk :)
Something about this before and after and how it changed the game for you makes me want to cry! I love your outlook on the future and also your radical self acceptance before, during and after. You are such a rock star and we all are so happy you are healing! ❤️🩹
Oh gosh thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Omg i was welling up too!
You’re so brave Kelli! It’s looking great and its wonderful to hear how your taste & breathing etc has improved! Take it easy & happy continued healing! ❤
It’s so frustrating when a doctor uses age to dismiss a patients concern! ❤ glad you’re doing so much better!!❤
your new nose is BEAUTIFUL!! and your voice does sound different (in a good way)! it sounds clearer now. i'm so glad you're happy with your decision to get the surgery. it was painful but man now that you're on the other side it's gonna be a fun year trying all your favorite foods again and smelling things like candles, soaps, lotions, flowers, etc. it's like experiencing them for the first time. i hope the recovery continues to go well. enjoy food! enjoy sleeping in whatever position you please! ENJOY BREATHING!!
I'm so glad you are feeling better and can BREATHE!
Truly feels so different, I'm so shocked at how it feels lol!
I wish you were MY yoga instructor!!
@fairykeiley I hope you do!! Sometimes deep breathing or nostril breathing just isn't what you're vibing with that day
You do sound a very very slightly bit clearer.
Haha honestly I do appreciate a good nasally voice, it feels like home to me :P
I notice it too, overlap with that NY accent for me.
OMG! My son is having the same surgery in a couple weeks after having consistent ear pain for YEARS. So glad to see someone else who has some experience though I’m sorry you had to go through all of this. Wishing you the best and easiest recovery! Please update!
Honestly it was the best decision of my life! Totally worth the recovery to be able to breathe and lay on my side!!
Oh I never even considered a purifier, great suggestion!! 😅😅
Omg I had a septoplasty and it totally changed my sense of smell and taste. Finding out I liked strawberries as an adult was wild
Haha omg wait should I try foods I never liked??? I didn't even consider that, I've just been excited to re-try foods I already love!! 🤩
@@KelliMarissaVlogsthat would be a hilarious video! 😂
"Do I dislike it or was it my deviated septum?" 🤔
@@KelliMarissaVlogs
Absolutely! I’ve gone a brief period of my life without a sense of smell (due to a completely different nasal surgery), and a lot of foods just taste like nothing without scent. I hope you enjoy your new food journey and it makes up for how painful the surgery was! ❤
@@3rin817 great idea!!
The joy I saw when you were talking about tasting food was so heart warming! I only had my nose pierced and that took a year to not be sore, so it’ll be nice to get updates as you continue to heal.
I'm so curious how it'll look once it's "fully" healed but I'm sure it'll be subtly changing throughout the year and I won't even realize LOL!
Youre still beautiful. The surgeon did a good job. Glad youre happy.
That poor girl is a strong and hard working beast! All those problems with her body! Dang!
OMG! 😳 I didn’t know how bad it was! I’m so happy you can breathe and smell now. Keep getting better Kelli! Sending you tons of hugs!
Honestly neither did I 😂 I need to call up that first doctor in NJ and tell her she probably shouldn't have told me I don't need surgery, because I definitely did LOL. I can't believe other people have been tasting this much food their whole lives 🤣🤣 I need to catch up!
@@KelliMarissaVlogs yes!!! Enjoy it! 😀

Oh, and big thanks to Ryan for taking good care of you!
saline rinses are your BFF for recovery! and also long term nasal health. Your new nose looks great on you!
I'm so glad the surgery went well and that things are better for you now. You look beautiful as always, and I don't hear a big difference in your voice. Still calming and soothing. 🙂
It is concerning though that a medical professional told you that we just can't sleep on our sides without ear pain after 30.
That’s amazing!
(At least, that's what my bellybutton felt/feels like.)
I had two major surgeries in 2022 & 2023 (a year apart) & had 6 additional procedures in 2023.
Your hair looks really cute!
Lol.
I have never been so thankful for my normal functioning nose. :) So glad you are healing well! ❤
Haha seriously! Don't ever take it for granted 😂😂
It absolutely takes up to a year for the swelling to go down. Will take that long to see a final result. Best to you!
I love your new nose (not that my opinion matters), I think it fits your face beautifully! I do hear a change in your voice which is crazy.
So frustrating that you had to deal with all those naysaying doctors! And what is with people making intrusive comments like you spoke of. Ugh...
I'm so excited that you finally get to experience things that we all take for granted. Best wishes 💜💜💜
Thank you so much!! Haha yeah it's kind of crazy to think that I saw at least 6 doctors and most of them acted like my issues were totally normal!
I’m glad it all well and you’re healing! Your voice did change and it sound a like you, but clearer. Like before it sounded like you were about to get or getting over a cold, now it sounds the same minus that.
I’m supposed to have a sinus tuck and correct my deviated septum fixed. And I’ve been nervous. Thank you so much for sharing.
Truly it's been life changing for me, you're gonna be SO happy you did it!!!!
I hope recovery continues to go well and hope that your nose functions a lot better ❤
That is amazing that food tasted a lot better. A great perk to breathing well lol
I love the smell of nail polish but definitely strong!
Love your eye makeup
Oh gosh thank you so much Kim! I figured I should change up the hair a bit for 2024 while I was sitting around at home haha!
One of my favorite smells is the smell of new books.
Omg you’re so pure and adorable, so glad I found your channel
Oh gosh thank you haha! I'm glad you found me too!!! 🥰🥰
I wonder what I'm missing out on especially also as a foodie and a fragrance addict but im still so scared of the entire process and pain lol 😥🥺
also yes pls update about it in a few months!! or even a year from now! i always love to hear how life-changing surgeries are in the long-term :) sorry for the long comment lol but I'm glad youre back and smelling/eating well!
edit: OH were you able to wear glasses with the nose... padding thing on at all?
Thank you so much! I highly recommend the surgery honestly, you should definitely talk to an ENT - my whole procedure was covered by my insurance too!
Ooh I haven't thought about that but it kind of makes me want to go smell all my perfumes LOL
Thanks for sharing, you’re a great story teller:) I’m so glad your quality of life has improved!
Oh gosh thanks haha!! I can't wait to go out and live life and smell the roses (literally, LOL)
I really like your new nose! The full year of healing thing is the truth.
Well done Kelli ! Congrats on your new sense of smell and taste. So happy for you. You'll see how as the months pass you will forget how hard it was but how worth it. ❤🎉😊
Thank you so much!! I'm already just so pleased with how different everything is, truly worth the pain and discomfort haha!
You look fabulous! It's going to be a whole new world for you breathing through your nose, and I'm so happy for you to be tasting all that food now!
Hi Kelli, I am so glad for you that this big surgery is behind you! You are so brave. Thanks for sharing your journey. I am so glad for you that you can breathe and taste!!!!!!
Thank you so much 💜💜💜 I'm truly so glad I went through with it, what a life-changer haha!!
Oh Kelli I can’t even fathom not being able to breathe through my nose or blow my nose 😩 I’m glad you were able to get this surgery and it’s improved these (plus more) issues! And your voice sounds the same to me (and not nasally) 🙂
If you do an update in the future I am interested in a side by side photo comparison because I really don’t notice much difference about your face either 😅
Here’s to fully healing 🥰
I’m so happy to see you again! And so glad the hard recovery days are over. ❤ Hope you and Ryan eat lots of good food so you can savor all the flavors!!!
I told him we have to go on a food tour of Vegas and eat EVERYTHING lol!! Thank you so much!!
Happy to have you back. As someone with bad allergies I have no idea what my life would be like without blowing my nose 🤧
Wishing you a full recovery. Much love!
You are a Rockstar!!!!❤ Thank you for sharing! It's as if you are learning to taste and smell for the first time!!! I'm just starting the journey! I'm such a wimp when it comes to pain!!! Congratulations!!!!✌🏼🥰💖🙌🏼
I'm also a wimp with pain haha but it was SO SO worth it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh gosh are too sweet thank you! It really does feel life changing to be able to smell!!
I am so glad you're healing so well and feeling better! Enjoy every bite of food and wonderful smells that come your way!
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
My daughter had the same surgery you had, also with the ear cartilage removed to build up the nose.
Thank you so much!! I'm definitely excited to be back haha
I'm so glad the surgery went well and you're on the mend. Also, all the new life features you've unlocked by having your nose issues fixed sound so cool! Feels like a game character upgrade, but in real life 😄
Haha it really does!! New level - extra delicious food all the time 🤣
Glad you are ok. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Get well soon.
Thank you so much Claire ❤️❤️❤️
