    Would you pack a lot differently for overseas to go into a container than you would across country or the concepts pretty much remain the same? Is there such a thing as over padding?

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  2 года назад +4

      That's a great question! There is no such thing as over padding; however, some small older furniture may need to be padded in other ways or with other types of pads. We are currently working on more videos to explain how that is done. For smaller fragile items we recommend using burlap pads, also known as skins. These are light enough for fragile items, but strong enough to protect them. Overseas shipments are packed and padded using boxes and paper pads. All furniture is wrapped and padded using paper pads. This technique is much different than cross country or local moving. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Michael! We'll make a video series addressing overseas shipments.

    When to just use the rubber bands and when to use stretch wrap? Or use both??

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  2 месяца назад +1

      As we say in the video, you should only use rubber bands and pads. However, there are times when stretch wrap can be used. Typically when you have drawers that like to slide out and need to be held in place, or if you have glass on the front and you need to hold cardboard in place to protect the glass. Check out a few of our other videos, we have a few that go over those scenarios.

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  3 года назад +3

      Hey Judith! Thanks for watching the video. We use three sizes of rubber bands: small, medium, and large. The bands we use in this video happen to be large. If your interested in getting some for your move, you can pick them up at places like Victory Packing, and Movers Supply House. I've attached a link below.

    Would you use any plastic wrap over the drawers first to make sure they don’t come out as you move the furniture?

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  Год назад +1

      Hello Maggie! No, professional movers will not use any plastic wrap on an average dresser. (Please note that all of the drawers should be empty prior to moving the dresser.) Once the pads and bands are in place, they will keep the drawers from opening. Also, properly lifting and carrying the furniture will keep the drawers from opening.

    Would you use 2 covers for every dresser?

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  2 года назад +3

      Hello Jorge! The amount of moving pads used is directly based on how large the dresser is. Typically two pads are used to insure all sides of the dresser are covered correctly. To answer your question directly, use as many pads necessary to fully cover and protect your dresser.

    I would cover the bottom of my furniture but that is my personal choice.

    • @StumpfMovingandStorage
      @StumpfMovingandStorage  2 года назад +1

      Hello Ashley! There is no need to protect the bottom/underside of this style of furniture. Once it is wrapped the furniture is picked up and carried to the truck where it is set into place and used as "base" while loading. We have more videos in the works describing the loading process. So, when loaded and carried properly, there is no threat of damage to the underside. The only time professional movers will wrap the bottom of furniture like this, is for an overseas shipment because furniture is loaded into "lift vans".
