Dude one time I moved some leather couch from over seats. Backs were all in one piece. Unassembled. That couch was one of the heaviest piece of furniture I ever moved. And I moved tree stumps made flat as coffee tables, large table marble tops. Idk why Aside from the hard moves and easy ones. I love the art of moving
I have this same type of couch. I got it and the chairs from Fantastic Furniture Australia. The back was separated when we bought it but once you click it in, it's stuck fast. No movers have ever been able to separate it.
I’ve been a professional mover for 5 years . And now I run my own company. Good job everything in this video is perfect this is exactly how I would do it myself
This is perfect example of why IF you value your stuff, hire professionals. Great wrapping job. We’d put blankets down on every landing, but this works as well.
Take off the backs for the couches it makes moving the couches much easier .. unless the backs don’t comes off that is the best way. But everyone is different. Also I never touch a piece as have 4 wheelers
Yeah well done just dont forget (depending on the couch) you can also undo the round feet of the sofa (under the sofa)check properlly the bottom frame of the sofa can sometimes seperate the 3 place sofa. Super easy last option that can work like it did for me that one time the access to the living room was sketch
Nice. 10 year moving veteran here. I'm out of the business now, but in our own trucks most of the time we wouldn't bother wasting time with all the padding and wrapping. We were all strong and skilled enough to move everything without having to burn so much time dressing the furniture. Unless it was a sentimental or particularly expensive piece. If you are paying by the hour then such things run up the clock too much. There is no perfect substitute for confidence in one's abilities. Not trying to shame them for wrapping it up, just trying to outline that there is a time and place for such measures. And it is definitely not every time.
You pad furniture so it doesn’t get dirty. It helps to prevent damage, but we do it to ensure the customer feels more comfortable with us taking all their furniture to whenever it’s going clean and safe. Especially if it’s a full load and you need to stack items. The bottom of items that have been sitting on your floor collecting dust for years is going to be nasty if you don’t pad.
9 year veteran still a mover here and yes i completely agree. I put blankets yhets necessary like wood when stacking in the truck, sometimes no blankets or straps, just depends on the situation 👍 But companies i worked for seriously nobody does what video demonstrated 😂🤦♂️ except for company ads 🤦♂️
Before you hire a moving company check reviews folks, some places will just hire anyone off the street, guys I used to work with would steal from people were moving for
Agreed! Always check reviews and check with local state/federal licensing board to make sure they're licensed and insured. We background check our guys and most of our newer guys are come from recommendations by our movers we already trust.
Yeah, the carry was a bit off but they got her done. The pad and wrap was done decent. I find with these, there is a metal bracket on the base that all three pieces attach to that can be unscrewed. Three pieces instead of one big one.
First step is to inspect couch to see If broken . Second step is to take brake down couch. Take off backs see if it brakes down any more. Then start padding
I wanted to see how I could move my couch assembled by myself, but it seems like I'm going to have to disassemble it 😢 I'm glad it has that feature but there's so many parts.
I know you guys are focused on protecting the couch but on what planet does it to put your old dirty moving blankets when you could use some old clean sheets?
Fuck all you people on here saying you could do it better. Next time you go to Ikea, try bending all the hardware and then building everything without instructions. Not so easy is it? Anyways, this is a solid piece. At $200 an hour you go the carry route, not the nightmare puzzle route.
20 minutes is too long for that single item. At $160/hr, that costs the customer $52 for you to wrap and move that sofa. Two strong men can move that sofa properly without being wrapped and blanket it after it’s loaded on the truck.
Ya so my husband just told me he shouldn't have to move our couch downstairs because he's a man. I can do it he said. Any other women out there whose husband told them to move the couch?
On this particular recliner the backs were sewn into the base rather than the velcro you usually see, so the backs couldn't come off - otherwise we would have done that.
That’s the worst way of moving things. Perfects scenario would be disassemble an item to smaller pieces if possible and then wrap the pieces. I.e. this particular couch backs are removable. Taking these backs out would gives much more maneuverability in transporting it around the house in and out. Not to mention stacking it in a truck if you’re moving whole household.
These couch backs were sewn onto the base, so with this particular recliner couch that wasn’t possible. But yes, if the backs on this were removable they would have been removed and done that way.
@Rodrigo Aguirre Not true in this instance! The backs were sewn into the base, so it was physically impossible to detach the backs without damaging the couch.
@@ajaxmovingandjunkremoval so carry it to the truck then put a couple blankets over it. Unless your driving 90 and plan on flipping the truck, shouldn't need to shrink wrap an entire role per piece of furniture is a bit much Unless going to storage. Looks cute though.
For all those who keep commenting, the backs were literally sewn on! We couldn't disassemble this one otherwise that's what we would have done.

Easier to take the backs off for some houses/townhouses cant fit a recliner upstairs. Rookie move
One very important thing a lump loader taught me is Knees Down when it comes to getting the OS out the door
Im a professional mover as well. Im about 15 months in. If possible, could you tell me how I would go about starting my own moving company?
Do they charge extra for that?
This is perfect example of why IF you value your stuff, hire professionals. Great wrapping job. We’d put blankets down on every landing, but this works as well.
Blankets on every landing is pretty funny
Put paddings on every landing for a video but if you just wanna get it done then take it like that, it’s just for show and tell
That could be a tripping hazard. Especially for the one walking backwards
Not going to lie me and my coworker put blankets down when we have to never thought about wrapping but going to keep this in mind
Good job guys. Looked great. From one mover to another.
Thanks so much!
A Lot of You Guys Claim to Be Movers but seem to have never come across a recliner where the backs don't come off? Great Wrap Job Guys!!
The backs were sewn onto this one, so it couldn't be removed - otherwise we would have removed and wrapped individually!

For those recliners couches the backs always come off, definitely makes the move easier
Four wheel everything! Hmm interesting!!

Your Exactly right most homeowners wouldn't want you to do this once they realize how much extra time they'll have to pay

How many claims have you had in those 10 years lol. Padding is the way to go. Wood and leather are sensitive as fuck to scratches
Mover here great job
We have the same exact couch! How convenient!
Wow that's awesome.

Man I hate moving those electric couches when the backs don’t come off. They are heavy as 💩. Good job wrapping it and moving it
Great video. 💪💪💪
Thank you!
you guys did a good job
Overkill
One of movers worst nightmares. back of couch is attached… AHH😭🤬😩
Used to shrink wrap just like this but to be honest its not necessary
We'd rather take the precautions when it comes to protecting our customer's valuables.
good job guys #Grateful

If it can come apart, definitely do so. It'll make it easier to move yourself and it's less likely to get damaged.
I would have taken the back part off of the Couch Easy to handle
Then I would wrap it with the blankets and shrink wrap
Pros would’ve taken the backing off
I know you guys are focused on protecting the couch but on what planet does it to put your old dirty moving blankets when you could use some old clean sheets?
Sheesh shit load of wrap 😂
I hear "PIVOT"!!!!
me personally i wouldve used two pads and one manned that on my foot down the stairs.
I think that couch could’ve detached at the back .
But need to Ovoid paying by the hour
Why you don’t to take off the back of the couch ???
How do you move a couch by yourself though?
Hand truck with stair climber
They probably could have saved 10 minutes by taking the backs off
