My favourite diesel-electric engine. Love the look and the sound
Ah. The thing that goes pop in Connolly Station. I got a train from that platform last Sunday and it no longer went pop. It was gone. All the nice things go away.
This shares the same engine as the sd40-2 here in America

Yea that's me in the morning.
They wouldn’t be as quick to start as the V8. Fantastic sound though😊
Question for ye;That tinny, metallic 'pop' you hear before these start, what is it?Is it a cylinder decompression valve? A fuel pump priming?
I'm not sure what it is but you hear it regularly on platform 3 at Connolly (where this was taken). I don't think it's coming from the locomotive.
@@steeviebops It's not coming from the loco. I've always heard it in Connolly. I call it the mystery pop.
