- In today's video, I'll be showing you all how to remove and replace your BMW's fuel pump AND fuel filter. This tutorial works for a ton of models of BMWs, not just the E90/E92.
BAD FUEL PUMP/FILTER SYMPTOMS:

great instructions. followed them today start to finish. must say finding the tunnel for the filter tubes was beyond frustrating. felt like it was working then nothing at other side.

My gauge always reads 3/4, but it is almost close to empty. If it gets to almost empty, will the light for low fuel light up or that is also connected to sending unit (if it failed)? Maybe there is another sensor for very low fuel level.

will these being bad cause a misfire on cylinder 4 5 and 6? New coils, new plugs, new injectors, new throttle body, ecu has been reset and throttle body has been through the relearn process.
Quick question, so I noticed that the fuel range will read for example 200 miles. If I drive 1-2 miles instead of going down to 198 it goes down to like 180. When I get a “low level” fuel light it’ll say I have 20 miles, but like I won’t even go 3 miles and it’s down to 10. The gas gauge level doesn’t go down like crazy though, it stays the same. Could this be a fuel pump issue or maybe a different sensor? 09 328i e90.
Is there a way to prime the fuel pump without a code scanner? Thanks for the helpful & detailed video
Yep! Pop the key in the ignition, and press the start button to turn on the electronics (without turning on the engine). Repeat however many times is desired.
@@IzzyE9X Thanks for the quick reply Izzy! How many times do recommended resetting in order to flush out all the air from the system? I saw you had your code scanner set to 20 seconds

This is one of the best diy I have seen. I watched about 4 others before doing this job today. Wish I had seen yours before I did this. All went well. I just did not realize I could use my scantool to activate fuel pump and bypass the long crank. The fuel line to the regulator would not come off as you showed though. Had to force it off. Then on the new one it would not seat. I finally had to remove the gray lock collar and attach it to fuel line and attach that way. So far so good. Thanks for the video
THANKS! I am about to do this. I bought the pump - just need to take the leap - theres one or two videos of guys just dropping the entire assembly in then locking it all down - no tubes from inside being connected. Just the top ones. then there are the rest that show fishing for lines and connecting them - SO CONFUSED!!!

Izzy! Im desperate and cant find info. Opened up back and the top if the current fuel pump is metal. The fuel line metal and bolted. The two electrical connections - routed to ONE circle. Looks nothing like my new pump. Which looks just like the rest in these videos. Rock Auto said this fits my car.
Stopped dead before i even open the pump- car is a no start so im ride less and looking for anyone who knows what this is. Sick joke by bmw- everything else in this bucket is plastic … except what i need.

Fantastic communication skills! I’ve watched 7 of these fuel regulator and pump videos and all of them but yours omit things or ?? Don’t talk clearly. Question: I don’t have a chip reader scanner machine. Can I just turn in the accessory for 10 seconds a couple of times?

Great video. I just have a leak from the pump o-ring and rusty retaining ring. Can I just stretch the new o-ring over the existing fuel pump so I don't have to pull the pump all the way out.
if you’re referring to the o-ring around the retention clip holding everything down, you can just install a new o-ring
Thanks. But after I got it apart I found the top of the fuel pump was deteriorated from the rusty ring so I'm replacing everything. Where did you get the retaining clip you broke. I cracked mine also. Is there a part number? And to disconnect the pipe do you need to pull the retaining clip all the way out, or just part way. Also the filter unit on the driver side gave a lot of resistance just before fully seating, seems like too much, but maybe those new hoses are a lot stiffer? @@IzzyE9X
Thanks for the good video. So the fuel filter is built-in at the top cap area along with 3 lines, located on the left on the car? While the Fuel pump is located on the right side..is that correct?
fuel pump is on the passenger side while the fuel filter is on the driver side

fuel sending unit, it’s the big part that swings around on a hinge. could be undone or needs replacement
Hello, I just try to remove the driver side fuel filter. But when I remove the black fuel pipe, the fuel came out and it didn't stop like there is still remianing pressure inside. (07:49 in video)

you can activate the pump by inserting the key into the ignition and turning the car into accessory mode. you can do this acouple times

How is this job different on an E92 M3?
My bmw e92 m3 started leaking fuel on the rear driver side. I watch your video then i open up my car and sure enough it was leaking from the fuel filter housing on top. The plastic cover has a crack. I’m wondering if the bmw 335i has the same fuel filter as the bmw m3 everything on your video match even all the connections match.
From my research, the 335 and M3 fuel filter have different part numbers, so their may be slight differences.

@@IzzyE9X All it is, is a EVAP hose clip, BMW doesn't sell the part but with Google Lense I was able to find out that the same part is used on Fords as well, and auto zone sells them on the fuel section in a pack. Sorry for blowing you up.
Is it normal to still smell fuel after replaced? I finished mine last night and smell hints of it with still leaving the window open throughout the night
