Since I'm a serious hobbyist woodworker I have a Festool Domino XL DF700 and the Seneca Small Mortise Kit. I'm a fan of the other Seneca options for the XL 700. If I were making a living at wood working I would have a few of both!

I want to use 6mm. And I have 5/8 plywood (it’s about 16mm, center is 8mm) But the minimum distance to the center is 10mm?

I own a Festool Domino 500, but the 700 XL has some really nice features, not only the larger size. One of my favorite features on the 700 XL is the pins rather than the paddles (or flaps). Until 2008, the 500 had the pins, too, but apparently a patent dispute with Mafell resulted in Festool having to change to those horrible paddles. I do with someone would offer a retrofit kit to put the original pins back on the paddle-equipped Domino 500 machines.

Crazy question but does Festool still offer replacement parts for the 500 model that had the pins? Go onto their Ekat system maybe you could order the parts and retrofit.

@@builtfixed6611 Unfortunately the Ekat catalog does not offer the main base with pins (or paddles) as an available replacement part. I know this because I just ordered some replacement parts for my 2007 pin model Domino last week and looked through the entire parts listing. If I were to guess, I'd say this would put them in danger of a patent infringement claim again, but I'm only guessing. They have virtually every other part you would need though, and Customer Service was friendly and efficient. I had my parts in hand in less than a week after placing my phone order. Festool support is as high quality as the tools themselves.

Is the adapter expensive and does it void any warranty?

I can't see how it would void anything but I am not in a position to legally advise. It simply threads in and out and doesn't materially change the tools intended function. I frequently swap between needing it for small sized cutters and not needing it for the larger cutters. I don't remember the price but I don't remember flinching after buying the domino machine 😉
