Cuban Reacts to Pet Store in America - SHOCKED First Time

  • Cuban Reacts to pet store in America and is SHOCKED at his first time. In Cuba, there is no such thing as pet stores with such variety. From leaches to collars to so many types of food, even dogs have choices. Yoel is shocked that a pet store is as huge as a human store..
Coming from impoverished countries, taking care of your dog at this level is just seen as odd or luxury. While Cubans love being dog owners, they cant afford fancy leaches and food.
All of these experiences aim to show how truly blessed we are in this country and why so many migrants risk their lives trying to just do/see what we did today.
This country isnt perfect, but even pets have better lives here.

Keep in mind, late 70s still has local stores, no Big Box franchises like we have now
She almost fainted in the pet food aisle of the grocery store. There was only one aisle for pets at that time. No PetsMarts yet

She was sad but also angry for her fellow citizens being denied basic needs while our pets had their own food

Back when she was growing up she starved and ended up very short cause she had very little to eat, just like in modern-day Cuba. This reminds me of my own grandma - thought she's never left France. I assume that like your grandma she had to suffer the hardships of the Nazi occupation and post-war years in the 1940's, including scarce food supplies. After those years as Europe went back to normal life, she became really addicted on food, and drove her dogs into food addicts as well; I remember when I was a child that she went to the "patisserie" (pastry shop) every Sunday morning to buy three fancy pastries, one for her, one for my grandfather, and one for the dog - and human guests if any. Nowadays, here in France or more generally in Europe we also have these chains of pet stores, we've also turned our pets into spoilt brats, frankly going too far. We have a cat, and we love him and do take care of him, take him to the vet when needed and so forth. His big pleasure; hunting the small rodents in the garden and in the neighbor's fields (and sometimes proudly bring his preys back home😒). He's a happy country cat, he loves being both inside and outside; being treated like a four-paw doll, or like a human, would probably make him unhappy.

The punchline in the movies though, is that it is usually done to someone who is arrogant or thinks they have sophisticated tastes, so it hits hard when they realize they pretentiously enjoyed cat food.
Giving fish, labeled as cat food, to someone who likes fish and spent his life without many opportunities to eat it, wouldn’t be much of a gag. He probably wouldn’t even react negatively to finding out. He’d probably be like “dang, the cats eat good around here. Can I have some more?”

I looked in the comments and found you guys have busy lifestyles, and I totally understand. If you want another pet, consider getting a reptile. Like a bearded dragon for example. They are very low maintenance animals that need very little attention. I have a female bearded dragon that I've had for over 5 years now. I bought it when it was around 3 years old. You'll just need the right supplies to care for them, which isn't much to list. Big enough enclosure for it to roam around, basking/UVA-UVB lights with domes, bedding like substrate (walnut shells will work), but paper towels work the best and are cheaper, decorations for the enclosure (like a basking rock, fake plants, etc), and food for the beardy. They are omnivores and enjoy their greens and insects and occasionally, small mammals like a baby rat or mouse. But they mostly like insects like dubia roaches, mealworms/superworms, hornworms, and crickets. There are some do's and don'ts with their food diet. You can research it for more information.

My first gbaby was a fur baby. My daughter had to be home schooled due to epilepsy seizures. We got a long haired chihuahua and believe it or not she sat in a pouch for probably the first year and would like my daughters face when she felt a seizure coming. That was almost 11 yrs ago. We still have her and I swear my kiddo would almost give her life for that pooch. They show absolutely unconditional love and its a shame that some are mistreated. Adopt a dog today! You will never regret it. Do your research first for the kind that fits your lifestyle though. Love to all.
