Cuban Reacts to Pet Store in America - SHOCKED First Time

- Cuban Reacts to pet store in America and is SHOCKED at his first time. In Cuba, there is no such thing as pet stores with such variety. From leaches to collars to so many types of food, even dogs have choices. Yoel is shocked that a pet store is as huge as a human store..
Coming from impoverished countries, taking care of your dog at this level is just seen as odd or luxury. While Cubans love being dog owners, they cant afford fancy leaches and food.
All of these experiences aim to show how truly blessed we are in this country and why so many migrants risk their lives trying to just do/see what we did today.
This country isnt perfect, but even pets have better lives here.
Thank you for being apart of our journey and watching us grow together in America.

Would you eat dog food if it was all real ingredients? 😂
This one time a buddy of My mine and I got drunk and ate dog biscuits... 🤣
I don't think I would now just because in my head I'd probably freak out lol but I know as a small child I did lol
I’ve accidentally eaten “dog jerky” because it was packaged just like human beef jerky. Lol. I wondered why it tasted so weird until I read the back… literally the front only said “Natural Beef Jerk”… on the back it said “100% Natural Dog Treats” 🤣🤣🤣
If I was starving I certainly would.
@@beesnort3163 Facts 💯… at the end of the day food is food. It may taste like ass, but it’s better than your body eating itself alive
"Even the animals have opportunities." America, please stop and look at the world around you through this man's eyes and feel in your heart how blessed and lucky we are. Every Yoel and Mari video gets to me because of what they, their families and countrymen have been denied. Unreal...
Sadly too many people here vote democrat(AKA) socialism .
Yes.
I hate to tell you but other countries besides the USA has these types of stores. Stop being such an elitist. AMericans should travel to other nations and find out how cheap healthcare and education is.
@@sagnhill Why do you sound so offended?? America-hate much?
I’d edit that to say”democrats”. Republicans already love this country & are the ones fighting to keep the freedoms offered here. The democrats would rather see it turned into another socialist country rather than just move to one of those.
It's sad to think we have more access to pet food than Cubans have to human food
Isn’t that crazy? The dog food aisle is sometimes bigger than an entire Market. Lol
@@YoelAndMari CRAZY & SAD
It makes me angry that Cubans are treated like island prisoners, for what? Their leaders are the criminals and live richly- but this is just like ours!
@@YoelAndMari And there are actually gyms for dogs too - agility courses and what not. Professional working dogs and show dogs will need supplements.
@@YoelAndMari smh 😔
My aunt visited from Lithuanian in the late 70s while they were still under Soviet rule
Keep in mind, late 70s still has local stores, no Big Box franchises like we have now
She almost fainted in the pet food aisle of the grocery store. There was only one aisle for pets at that time. No PetsMarts yet
Still, left quite the impression on her
She was sad but also angry for her fellow citizens being denied basic needs while our pets had their own food
Forget the internet haters. I enjoy your videos very much because my family is from the old Communist world. Very fortunate my folks took the risk 70 years ago and came to this Country
Work hard Yoel & Mari and enjoy your Freedom!
I worked with a guy whose parents had immigrated from Lithuania. He said they had a closet in their house filled floor to ceiling with toilet paper. They could not break that habit of hoarding things when they found them.
@@TXKafir the lines ( and shortages) were real. Not a myth
She needed to blame her own government, not us, or our pets.
I met russian defectors, plus a ship jumper from Poland, in the 80's. Honestly I don't know why everyone hasn't left russia in the more unrestricted times since then. I guess they will understand now :(
@@fridaylong2812 i think that’s exactly what happened
Watching Yael makes me appreciate more, what we do have. The "even animals have opportunities " really hit hard.
I know. Coming from cuba you see so many strays on the street that are so ill and sick and thin. It’s hard to comprehend that even here animals are treated so much better
Couldn’t agree more. We do have it very good here in America.
I have peanuts out for the squirrels and ran out the other day. One squirrel came up to my window and looked in as to say I needed to refill the bowl. Even some of the wild animals are spoiled here.
@@Maruchi1970 I laughed out loud at this one. What a sweet story!
It not about what you have, it's about what the pets have. If you saw how British pets stores are, and the laws within pet stores, the American stores would make you sick.
His smile when he sees that the whole store is for animals is beautiful!❤️
Every video makes me tear up, seeing how an immigrant appreciates America, while we have Americans shaming America every day. I am USA-born, my parents and grandparents are from the home country communist China.
USA-born as well. It hurts to see people idolize socialist and communist countries like China and say how we should be like them. If socialism and communism were such good ideologies, people wouldn't be fleeing from them.
@@screamingopossum7809 Democratic socialism is what the happiest and healthiest countries have.
And it isn't "hating" America to want the country to work towards being closer to its ideals. Self improvement isn't a bad thing. Caring for more people and their experiences isn't bad.
@@chellesama8256 Democratic socialist countries are also the most taxed and governmentally controlled countries that aren't communist.
Government control isn't what America stands for. More government control doesn't lead to good things. Raising the taxes of everything doesn't lead to good things, especially since we know the American Government will only send it over seas to launder.
Americans don't care about their health. That's a value instilled in the culture, and the most obese country in the world doesn't care. People would be more lenient towards universal healthcare if the majority of Americans actually cared about their health. Evidence shows that they don't.
You sound like a conservative. Most people from communist places are. Here a great way to cope with what you are feeling. Treat everyone as if you 0:01 agree with them. For example . As a conservative when someone says something you agree with you guy think they are a patriot. But when you dont agree you think they hate America and are ungrateful. Try to see them as patriots voicing their opinions and exercising their rights just like you. They may be stupid or foolish but they are just as American as any conservative.
I just had an idea for you - take him to a big library. Show him the books that are available which might be banned in Cuba. In America we are under siege by those who want to ban books. First Amendment rights are under fire too.
Many people have told us this. I’m waiting to go to New York to take him there
@@YoelAndMari I bet if you took him to one that he can go to regularly he might become a book addict.
@@YoelAndMari Daaaaaaamn, the New York Public Library! That place is legendary and the central hall ought to take Yoel's breath away.
You might want to consider taking a premium sleeper train trip over too, so you arrive at Grand Central Station. Nothing quite like arriving to NYC the old school way.
@@sibkiss2009 And it's not just the books--local libraries have a wide variety of things you can check out, everything from movies to board games. They also offer so much free programming for kids and adults. It's amazing what you can find/do at your local library that costs nothing at all.

The fact just the fish tanks almost brought him to tears, because of how he said it was a "dream" for them, yet it's something we don't even think twice about. Really makes you stop and appreciate things. It's little reminders like this that bring me back down to reality, Im thankful for them.
This will stick with me forever "even our pets have opportunities here.." We are so blessed
Again, another GREAT video. My father and his family escaped the Soviet Union (Ukraine) in 1942. Yoel's reactions are sooooooo much like my grandfather's when he first came to the United States in 1949. I and my father LOVE your videos. God bless.

Thank you so much! Viva Ucrania!
Now all American PATRIOTS praise Ukraine, its people and its great leader Vladimir Zelenskyy!! Down with Russia!!
Meanwhile US gov't is sanctioning Cuba. to blame socialism for Cuba's poor economy is false. Do people ever wonder, if US economy is so great, why is everything made in other countries, namely socialist countries such as China?
@@_Wai_Wai_ You know and I know and everybody else on this planet knows that China pays its workers slave wages and so does Cuba. That's not Socialism that's Communism. Or authoritarianism.
We have a LOT of Socialism in America. Almost all our infrastructure is paid for by government funds which are taxed through the people which is Socialism. I myself see no problem with my taxes going to make our roads and bridges better.

This reminds me of my grandma! 🥺 She came from France in the 1950's, and would always feed her dogs lots and lots of chocolate (it's not good for them, but she loved stuffing them up anyways). Back when she was growing up she starved and ended up very short cause she had very little to eat, just like in modern-day Cuba. She also loved stuffing up me and my sister with huge quantities of chocolate and ice cream. RIP mémé (1925-2019) 🇫🇷🇺🇲
I thought chocolate was toxic for dogs how did they survive?
This reminds me of my own grandma - thought she's never left France. I assume that like your grandma she had to suffer the hardships of the Nazi occupation and post-war years in the 1940's, including scarce food supplies. After those years as Europe went back to normal life, she became really addicted on food, and drove her dogs into food addicts as well; I remember when I was a child that she went to the "patisserie" (pastry shop) every Sunday morning to buy three fancy pastries, one for her, one for my grandfather, and one for the dog - and human guests if any. Nowadays, here in France or more generally in Europe we also have these chains of pet stores, we've also turned our pets into spoilt brats, frankly going too far. We have a cat, and we love him and do take care of him, take him to the vet when needed and so forth. His big pleasure; hunting the small rodents in the garden and in the neighbor's fields (and sometimes proudly bring his preys back home😒). He's a happy country cat, he loves being both inside and outside; being treated like a four-paw doll, or like a human, would probably make him unhappy.
@@joylynch5204 Not all dogs are allergic to chocolate and even if they are they don't all die from it. They just get diarrhea, which can be deadly but often isn't.
I know she didn't purposely hurt her dogs. She was pleased to have enough money to bring nice things to her love ones
Your grandmother sounds lovely!
This video made me a little emotional. This documentary of all these experiences will last forever. Thank u for sharing.
All of these videos make me emotional. We have so much here we do t even think about.

So cool. I was waiting for Yoel to comment on the doggie outfits, lol. I always imagine the factory worker in China or wherever making our dog toys and the comments they say about them. I imagine the same scenario with adult toys, imaging the comments but that's a whole different conversation, lol.
Only people with enough disponible income would buy their dog an outfit. Lol

Haha, actually, the Chinese folks also have dogs and cats, and they do in fact also buy outfits for their dogs, like little boots to keep their paws clean on the dirty streets.

This video is a reminder of how privileged we are in the United States.
A privilege payed for by our ancestors willingness to work hard and fight what can be.
I am curious if the population of Cuba is aware of how this country compares to Cuba?
If they are aware, what / how can they change the circumstances in which they are in?
Again thank you for letting us see just how blessed we are. 🇨🇱🇺🇸
Hi James. Yes people are very aware of the United States. Remeber cuba isn’t closed off like North Korea. It sees media from Miami, family members who are on the outside and tourism inside the country too. To change it has been very hard because of the complete control the state has on its people. Also no guns or anything for the population to use against military forces.
Well, they would need to get rid of their communist system first. They don’t exactly get to vote in a new candidate just because they don’t like that their current one says mean things.
Lol yall really warm my heart. My husband said the other day are you cooking for the dogs again? I said yes they can't cook. He said you don't cook that much for me. Again babe they can't cook. Lol

Wow.. best "reaction video" ever.. so much more meaningful than "Let's listen to a song we've never heard before".. Thank you for a new perspective of how great our country is..
My sister-in-law who came with her family from Ukraine in 1989 ate cat and dog food they purchased at the grocery store, assuming that it was just canned food. It never occurred to them that pet food was sold at regular grocery stores. 😀
I knew a guy from Japan who would try anything on manager’s special. He was not impressed with the dog food though.
Thank you Yoel and Mari for sharing such a deeply personal story and experience with the world.. America needs to see this, so they can be grateful for what they have and careful not to let go of it. Once you lose your freedom it is not an easy thing to get it back again.
Just adding a like and comment for the almighty algorithm gods! Another fantastic video! Thanks again!
His gorgeous smile says it all.
Oh my god. In movies it's the mean revenge prank to feed someone canned cat food and say it was some fancy French dish. I'm not saying that would be a good idea for Yoel, but...it's an option 😂😂😂
Hahahahaah
The punchline in the movies though, is that it is usually done to someone who is arrogant or thinks they have sophisticated tastes, so it hits hard when they realize they pretentiously enjoyed cat food.
Giving fish, labeled as cat food, to someone who likes fish and spent his life without many opportunities to eat it, wouldn’t be much of a gag. He probably wouldn’t even react negatively to finding out. He’d probably be like “dang, the cats eat good around here. Can I have some more?”

Who is going to break it to Yoel that some people here feed their pets all human food, both cooked and raw diets of real meats, vegetables, eggs….? Some pets never see the contents of regular pet food bags. I’m not gonna tell him! 😩😭😂👌🏾
And Hollywood Movie Stars actually have a dedicated personal chef for their dogs.
There are hotels that cater to pets. They are fed real steaks from the menu, Fresh fish, salmon served on china, crystal for drinks and ice cream. They have their own lounges and sofas.. spas, groomers.
He would pass out. Lol! I'm guilty of giving my cats some of my shrimp..
Yeah i dont feed my dog that crap lol i feed her a nice balanced raw diet
Some do, not many anymore. When I was a kid, there was very few options for pet food, none for my parents. It was table scrapes or nothing. Dogs did not live as long as they do today.

His reaction to the crickets touched me. I'm from a long line of tradtional farmers. We also have cricket farm and a small bait & tackle store that's been in the family over 50yrs. It is so humbling to be reminded of how blessed we are to be able to provide for ourselves with these businesses. My family and I give sincere welcomes to your new country and family. May you have much prosperity and prayer that your extended family may gain the same opportunities. Much love from North East Indian ❤
I wish I could have joined you two there. I was at a different Petsmart with my dog for grooming today.
Exploring your world with a foreigner opens your eyes to so many things that we take for granted. It's so much fun taking them to new places to see their reaction and through them, you see it newly again ❤
I looked in the comments and found you guys have busy lifestyles, and I totally understand. If you want another pet, consider getting a reptile. Like a bearded dragon for example. They are very low maintenance animals that need very little attention. I have a female bearded dragon that I've had for over 5 years now. I bought it when it was around 3 years old. You'll just need the right supplies to care for them, which isn't much to list. Big enough enclosure for it to roam around, basking/UVA-UVB lights with domes, bedding like substrate (walnut shells will work), but paper towels work the best and are cheaper, decorations for the enclosure (like a basking rock, fake plants, etc), and food for the beardy. They are omnivores and enjoy their greens and insects and occasionally, small mammals like a baby rat or mouse. But they mostly like insects like dubia roaches, mealworms/superworms, hornworms, and crickets. There are some do's and don'ts with their food diet. You can research it for more information.
Everytime I see one of your videos it makes me proud and happy for how far people have come from seeing where people have been in the past to how far we have come in making a world better for all living things for the most part. We are not perfect by a long shot, but we are making improvements for the human condition and for the animal kingdom as well. Your videos really impress me, thank you so much for you obvious hard work and planning for these videos.
Omg u gotta get him some fish look how happy he is to this. Breaks my heart that countries don’t provide for their citizens and they steal from them. It’s good he is here but my heart breaks for those that still live in a country that doesn’t give them a chance to thrive. We are very fortunate that’s for sure. We have our issues for sure but still we are fortunate. Our pets live better than some humans. It’s nice to see our country appreciated by people too. These videos are cool. He appreciates it he doesn’t trash us for being fortunate like some do.

We got a long haired chihuahua and believe it or not she sat in a pouch for probably the first year and would like my daughters face when she felt a seizure coming. That was almost 11 yrs ago. We still have her and I swear my kiddo would almost give her life for that pooch. They show absolutely unconditional love and its a shame that some are mistreated. Adopt a dog today! You will never regret it. Do your research first for the kind that fits your lifestyle though. Love to all.
I have a Puerto Rican son in law, with whom I’ve had a good relationship with for over 30 years. Yoel seems so sweet & genuine. I wish you both well He should not feel guilty for his newfound luck, but I understand. Be gracious in your gratitude. It’s all okay. 🙏🏻 Namaste
Your video edits are so funny. I love watching these when they pop up on my feed in the morning before I start work. You two are like a sitcom HA HA. I love it.... We need to hang out sometime!
Yoel, you are "un gran hombre". I hope I said that right. I meant to say you're a cool guy and I'm happy you're here.🙂
Again my heart is broken....
Much L💕VE...
CALIFORNIA 🏖🇺🇸🦅
His expression is priceless. Even I am amazed. Love from the island of Guam 🌴💗🌴
Omg! I love seeing the United States 🇺🇸 through his eyes!!! Thank you! For sharing.... god bless you both, god be with you!
Yes most of us pamper our pets. Our last cat lived to age 17 - miss him. Maine Coon Cat - smart cat - would greet me at the back door when getting home from work. Followed me around and even caught a bat in mid air once. (in the house - I then got it from him and let it go outside. flew off just fine)
Thank you Joel. Very kind of you.
So, so much we take for granted here. HIs reaction was refreshing!
