Can you show us the difference between the thickness of each pen. I have seen a lot of videos on the pen before nothing showing this. Thank you. I love your videos of you and your husband together also.
This is the best foil quill tutorial I seen so far, I didn’t think of making earrings before. I wonder if you need a template for cutting the edge of the earrings with the Cricut.. and I also tried looking for the snapmat app.. no luck :(. Thank you for your time in teaching us some new skills! I love your voice and the tempo on your videos. No a second is wasted with nonsense. You exude a very positive energy xoxo
Any idea yet how sturdy this is? I’m thinking of this on a travelers notebook cover. It would be so awesome. Personalized gift for bridesmaids sounds fantastic.
Hi Alexandra. Thank you for this great video. I am new to both Cricut Maker and Foil Quill, so I learned a lot. Could you please kindly advise what linetype do you choose for leather - draw? I tried draw with fine line and it didn't turn out well. I am just wondering what I do wrong. Thanks sop much for your time.
Set it to DRAW and use the standard or bold tip foiling quill. You will need to experiment on some scraps to determine which line works best for whatever project you are working on.
Hello Alexandra! Another amazing outstanding video demonstrating the incredible Foil Quill technology! These earrings turned out sooo cool! Thank you for all you do for your devoted subscribers! You’re so appreciated! ~Katz Baugh
Have you used the foil quill on fabric and leather with the Brother Scan N Cut? Does the fabric have to be without nap? I've tried it on faux suede with little success.
Hello watching your videos from Canada, great stuff. Seems though it's an awful waist of fabric, have you any tips on how to center the design on precut sized cardstock.
We need a way to remove one color of foil and add another color and another etc without taking out the mat. Or Be Able To Move The Tool Carriage Out Of The Way...
Well done! Just received my standard quill yesterday and I’ve been playing with it all day. Thanks for your creative ideas! I’m going to try my leather with the Snapmat feature as I had a bit of trouble lining up the foil properly. My image ran into my tape and it didn’t foil completely. Could you have had the Cricut machine cut the leather as well?
Yes. you can use faux leather, if you choose, the same instructions would apply - with the exception of the blade. In this case, I would use the DEEP POINT blade instead of the KNIFE blade. If you use the Knife blade with the faux leather, you will likely cut through your mat.
is there a reason that you did not cut out the earrings with the Circuit? I have seen people pause the machine, remove the foil then cut. It cut beautifully. Thanks for the instructive video.
Just my choice for this project; but yes I could have changed the blade out and set the project for that but for this demo the focus was the quill and it was quicker to cut them out
But, could you do a video showing how to cut it out, AND, could you also do a video using the thicker quill, AND, when you have the time and inspiration, could you also do a third video on how to 'fill in' spaces, for example - in case I am not explaining myself - if you make a square, or a circle etc and want it 'foiled in'. Greedy aren't I? looking forward to more videos though I love them all...
Hi! I loved your design. I was wondering, why did you not have the cricut cut the earrings after foiling? I've seen several videos and have not seen anyone foil and then cut
the foil quill for me doesn't work on leather. and you are doing it here. I tested it on my finger "yes that's very hot :P" how come it does work on yours
Yes! It's SO AWESOME!! But, you cannot use the KNIFE blade with a mobile device. There are those who say you can use the deep point blade when cutting leather..you CAN, but, it's difficult and unpredictable at best - I personally don't recommend it. The caveat to using the KNIFE blade is that you can only use a KNIFE blade in Design Space with a PC/Mac desktop or laptop computer. Here's how: In Design Space, create a solid shape the same size and shape as the design and ATTACH the two together. If you are making an earring, don't forget to slice out a small hole at the top of the solid shape and it will cut it out very nicely. The design should be set to DRAW and the solid shape you just created should be set to CUT. Place the leather and foil in the desired spot - After the design is drawn, pause the machine (DO NOT REMOVE THE MAT), remove the foil and tape only, then proceed with the cut. One other tip: to save your mats - stick the leather to some STRONG GRIP transfer tape and THEN place the leather (transfer tape side down, leather side up) on your mat. This will help keep all the fluffy bits of leather off your mat and help them to last a bit longer! thank you Alex for this demo! I appreciate you sharing your experience with us! Great job! :)
My friends and I LOVE your videos. But we agree that the purple roots distract us. Instead of listening to what you are saying, we are thinking that you should go back blonde or natural. The purple was great fun when we first saw it, but it's distracting from your natural beauty. It's harsh on the eyes. Comment sent from the crafty community in Dallas with love. Help us to focus on what you are saying and not on the purple roots. Thank you and blessings sent. Happy Easter.
@@sugarpuff2978 Yes, we Americans take pride in being quite rude. And I greatly appreciate it when my rude American friends tell me the truth about a hairdo or a wardrobe malfunction. She is not a friend who compliments the unsightly.
Agree. I am an American (referring to your comment to White Van Man) and I think this is incredibly rude. She did not ask for opinions on her hair nor should you be giving them. What you mind find distracting, others find pleasant. She is happy with herself and that is what matters. A comment like this is unnecessary and hurtful no matter how you try and spin it.
I'm sorry, Barbara, that you and your friends are such poor Crafters that you allow something like a person's appearance to prevent you from learning. I'm sad that you consider yourself an American, like myself. Most Americans that I know were raised that if you didn't have anything nice do say don't say anything at all. Most Americans that I know aren't as rude as you. The fact of the matter is that this woman puts herself in public, she's much braver than you. She's happy with who she is, are you?

The genuine leather is perfect for a notebook cover its a nice thickness
@@HedgehogHollow thanks for that info. I appreciate it

Great video Alex...could you get the scan n cut to cut out your project after foiling. xx
I'd like to see the results of that as well. If you can get in between the intricate details that would be amazing!
Definitely

Can I use faux leather and add it too a hat? Can it then be hand washed? Thanks

May I know which Cricut machine you used for leather foiling?

Yes, just go back, set to cut the outline the machine will then guide you through the blade choice and everything else you need to do
