    Im addicted to your channel. Cant wait for Virginia travels. My son is a Seal in VA Beach and my grand girls are there. I would love to take them on the loop even if just for a few states. So much history. Nice job Jenn! I am an old lady and boater and I am always a bit nervous docking. I am sure you are an old pro by now but still cautious. Thats the best way!

    Cap'n Jenn you did awesome. Once again a great video. Your next stretch you will see the boat/ship traffic pickup alot. Hopefully you have some decent weather on Ches Bay.
    I was not very imaginative when we did the Loop. I settled on adding to my t-shirt collection. Ampy was into receipe swapping with other Loopers and always had her eye out for local cookbooks.

    The reason they bring their lines back to the boat at a public location like that is so that pranksters can’t easily untie the boat while you are sleeping

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад

      Ahh I see, makes sense!

    • @woodside63
      @woodside63 2 года назад

      @@SchoandJo That could be a good reason in a place as public as that stop. Also, it can allow casting off without getting off the boat if lines are looped around a piling or cleat, and not tied.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад

      This was filmed late May. Starting in the Great Lakes I believe you’d start in early summer (that would be normal) - but it all depends on which area’s you want to explore most! Our goal was to be through the Great Lakes and into Chicago by the end of September if that helps you. That being said, when we make it into the Great Lakes next year we can more accurately help with if it was a good season or not! Best of luck!

    Great videos. Curious. Was it mostly northbound traffic on the canal or is that all they allow? Looks narrow to pass others. Looking to do Loop with a boat with almost 14 foot beam.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад

      We had almost entirely northbound traffic (we saw maybe 6 or 7 vessels in total) with one smaller fishing boat passing us southbound. It is narrow for sure but it's all no-wake I believe so as long as you and the passing boat are close it would be fine. Also you have to keep in mind the locks, they are timed so you shouldn't see traffic all day, ideally if you hit a later lock entering and an early lock exiting then that would also minimize the chances! We have 12.5 ft beam FYI. Best of luck!

    • @woodside63
      @woodside63 2 года назад

      @@SchoandJo and Patrick, we have done the Dismal in a 12' beam sailboat. If you are in a sailboat, passing another sailboat requires care and a close pass or you are liable to put the masthead in the trees.

      Who said we can't get off the dock without bow thrusters... and besides why does it matter lol just because I have two legs doesn't mean I think i should just hop around on one. if you have it, use it! otherwise you're just trying to prove something to someone and that's simply pointless.
