When the anchor is well buried use the boat to break it free. Pull in the chain so you are close to a 1:1 scope then just motor ahead on it. That will usually free it effortlessly. If it's really in there run a snubber to the sampson post to take the strain off the windless when you power forward.
Long time boater. First time viewer here. I have no idea how old you two are but I had to pause the video and just let you know how proud of you two I am. It’s great to see young adults “pushing their boundaries” and stepping headlong into a bold new experience. Well done! Keep the videos coming!
If I could make a suggestion, it's a pretty good idea to loop a line several times from the Mantus hoop to your bow when you're underway, especially in rougher conditions. It takes a lot of stress off the anchor roller and also prevents the possibility of the anchor bouncing out of the roller altogether (ask me how I know this...)
I really enjoyed this video! I like the motoring part with you two steering the boat. Welcome back and hope 2022 is going to be a good year for both of you.
Great to see another video! If I could make a suggestion, it's a good idea to loop a line from the Mantus hoop around your bow pulpit a couple times when underway, especially in rougher conditions. It takes a lot of stress off the anchor roller and prevents the possibly of it bouncing out of the roller completely (ask me how I know this...)
Hope your recovery to wrist health is going well. We are aboard Elaine May, Monk 36 trawler in Deltaville VA. March we will resume our Loop, going north. Have fun and stay safe.
Sweet Rick! Yes the wrist is healing very nicely, thanks! We will be stopping in Deltaville when we head north as well since we skipped it the last two times. Good luck resuming in March!
Another lovely video guys! Ollie is too cute ☺️ Also the way you pronounce Norfolk made us smile. We have a Norfolk back in the UK too but we say it like "nor-fuk". I don't know why 🤣
Haha we just heard that this was a thing recently... Unfortunately Pivot's hull chines are not conducive to a quiet nights sleep. After the first few days it becomes a lot more reasonable and less disturbing though!
Crab pots, crabbing is a seasonal activity. Early spring through fall. Water men take in their pots over the winter. Crabs become inactive in the winter.
Another great video! I noticed your Bimini straps flapping in the breeze. Try putting a twist in them. That has helped on other fast boats that I’ve been on. :)
No lack of a-hole boaters not being respectful when passing, showing off. I record em and report em, karma is a bee-atch. Hope you get your sea legs. I get the best sleep ever on my boat, but I'm one of the lucky few that doesn't get sea sick. Hopefully that will become the norm for you. Safe travels....
Thats a good strategy... we might start doing that. I'm convinced the first night is always the worst... Just getting used to all the different little noises along with the chop on the hull chines. After this night we've been slept fantastic!
@@SchoandJo there's this odd and strange fascination all good boaters have. They develop dog ears. The minute they hear something they don't recognize, they perk up and sniff it out until they understand what this new sound is. You know what I'm talking about..... hahahaha
Another great video. What kind of washdown pump do you have. I have been searching for one to add t my boat, but there is so many negative reviews on pump. Would you recommend your particular brand?
We have the Jabsco 32605 washdown pump and it has worked fine for us. Disclaimer: we didn't choose it - it came with the boat installed so I'm not sure about alternatives! Also its our very first and only washdown pump so we don't have much experience for what is good or not. But it seems to do the job very well 😁
Hope both of you and Ollie had an incredible Holiday's. Enjoyed the video except around 9:10 seeing that Hawkeye uglying up the skyline. You two be safe.
So do you call your anchor Agnes yet? Also, I have no patience for rude boaters either! What is wrong with people? That would have made me very nervous and those kind of folks make it hard to enjoy.
We typically just hop in the dinghy and plan out our anchorages accordingly. Hasn't been much of an issue thus far but we do have some turf onboard that we'd love her to use, but we haven't had much luck 😁
@@blahblah14u atleast where we’ve been so far, taking the dog out has been super easy! Not every region is the same but happy to answer any questions you might have!

This is exactly what I do. Works well.
Awesome, thanks for the tip Jan!

This was such a kind comment - thank you! We really appreciate it!
Get buzzed by any fighters, Langley Air Force planes sometimes land over back creek depending on wind directions.
Love to see a video showing how you lower and raise the dinghy in your setup.
Thanks for the request Brad! We'll add it to the list!
We’re so happy to see y’all’s faces again! ❤️ Including sweet Ollie girl 🐶😍
Aww, thanks y'all!! Happy New Year so excited for your journey this year, gonna be epic!! 😁
We're very glad we ran across your channel. You guys are a great couple, very authentic. We'll enjoy watching for years to come.
Thank you so much Steve - means a lot to us!

I respect your wanderlust and spirit of adventure
Thanks so much Harold!
Love your videos and this one was no exception! Always a lot of great information!Ollie is the sweetest boat dog ever!
Aww thanks so much Karen!

Love watching y’all. So glad y’all got a new motor for the dinghy, seems to be working out good. Can’t wait to see more videos!!!!
Thanks Larry! The new motor has been fantastic so far!
A little rough water makes it interesting..
Never a dull day on the water!
Nice area

Greetings from Cape Charles! You guys came through here in some nasty conditions, so I'm glad to see you made it safely across the bay.
Some days aren't the best, weather wise, but we try to make the most of it! Thank you for watching Arlie!

There are very few considerate boaters, wait for Florida. Awful! 45' trawler we got turned sideways in the icw going to Belhaven.
Geeze... we are trying to skip moving on weekends here in Florida for the time being...
Wooooo!
sounds like a country western song......she makes noise under way, she makes noise at anchor, she makes noise at night........

The current looked like it was running about 2 3 knots.
Absolutely... Plus we found out later that our prop was covered with barnacles so that definitely had something to do with it 😁
2-3 knots is par for the course on the lower Chesapeake

The wake at the end …if that was one you were complaining about…. You need to get over yourselves or you’ll never enjoy boating!
We didn't film the wake that affected us, it was a doozy earlier in the day.
Inconsiderate and dangerous boaters🤬🤬🤬🤬
