    Elliot great to see the results and how upbeat you are. When I had the wrist surgery the swelling never went down so it could not be casted. So right away I seen the pins on both sides of my wrist. First thought I had was this is going to hurt. Sniffed around RUclips and found a video of pin removal. Watched it and worked myself into a panic. For me removal went great.
    When you crossed the CBBT you were about 6mi from us up Lynnhaven Inlet and Linkhorn Bay.
    Stay and Be safe and happy that the wrist is behind you.

    Hello. I used pick up these 34’ to 45’ trawlers, when they first came out back in the 70’s, as they came off the ship from Taiwan in the Oakland outer harbor, tow them back to our dealership and commission them. Just an FYI; to really clean the teak railings etc you might try Spic and Span... it really does a good job and is not expensive. Then oil with teak oil as necessary. You shouldn’t have to strip the teak if you keep up with it periodically. You also might want to wax the stainless steel railings as it’s not the greatest stainless steel and tends to show rust. I would love to own one of these trawlers - I’ve had several live-aboard boats over the years and wish I had picked up one of these instead of the Formosa 43 Swan-like sloop that we lived on till my wife got tired of it. A trawler would have been much more comfortable. Cheers.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад

      Thanks for the tips Tim! Since the previous teak varnish (?) product is out of business and degraded significantly we are in the process of stripping it all the way down... Considering leaving it down and letting it grey naturally and beautifully... we'll see! We have some more time now that we had this roadblock so we can get to more maintenance like your suggestions. Thanks!!

    Hi Elliot and Jen - glad that you are mended. Also now understand the lag between video shooting and real time! I'm guessing Pivot will be wintering in Maryland. On the upside, the borders should be open in the spring and you'll be able to experience the Canadian portion of the loop. Looking forward to the next video!

    Wow, what a journey! Glad you got through it all! I was not aware that your videos were not current...lol. Thought these were being posted as you are travelling and I was wondering why so late in season to be stopped in Maryland. Now it makes sense I guess!
    Interesting how the insurance works, and even more how the surgery worked with the pins! That was weird!. Looking forward to seeing Pivot with the cliff hanger comment at the end....oh Pivot!
    Assuming that the marina cared for Pivot in some fashion for safety during the storms? Making sure it was tied up well and bilges working, etc?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад +1

      Luckily we had Bill who kept an eye to make sure Pivot was still floating and even Ron from Amazing Mile Marker Stops (on RUclips) stopped by and helped with a few odds and ends. Yep this explains it all :) We will be much more current going forward... not surprisingly its hard to work 40hrs a week, learn to boat, travel on the Loop, AND film, edit and upload the videos here 😂
      But now that Elliot isn't doing software consulting anymore we have more time and will be focusing on our videos a bit more.
      The whole situation regarding insurance and surgery was a crash course! Atleast its all over now 😁 Thanks for your support!

    People of your age and condition do not usually just tip over. So, what do you attribute the fall to? Footwear or lack thereof, trip hazard, slippery surfaces, catching clothing on something, boat or dock movement etc.?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  2 года назад

      Basically, I didn't use 3 points of contact when stepping off pivot onto the fixed dock... It was high tide so there was a considerable drop. I didn't think about it and my foot just went in between the boat and the dock 👍

      It would have been so much better if we could have been fixed at Pivot in MD and had a typical recovery, since it was delayed so much it totally killed our chances of finishing the Loop this year! We will definitely be researching better insurance this winter. Oh well, there's always reasons it could have been better, I'm just happy to be healed and back to normal life 😁
