You can try, but be prepared for the result to be unreliable, have suboptimal quality and so on. I'm not saying it won't work, but I can't say it will either. HDMI isn't meant for anything over 10 meters, really. Instead, you want to use SDI or something network-based (NDI or SMPTE 2110 are the most common options). There's also HD BaseT which is an HD video signal over a twisted pair (i.e. typical network) cable, but there's not much more I know about it (probably worth looking into nonetheless).
I ordered one of these today to check it out. The Atem Mini Extreme is just too extreme for me… tiny buttons, too much stuff, and all I'd need is a HDMI output. My Atem Mini Pro ISO hasn't failed me, but I've had situations when my laptop failed me, so I couldn't control the Atem via its software - which is quote funny when using the DSK that doesn't have a dedicated button just for a full screen overlay for a moment… now streaming is what happens, but what happens even more to me is that I need to switch between laptop signals to be seen on a projector, and I also need to get the audio from these laptops. The GoStream Deck apparently can do that for cheap, the Atem Mini can't at all (or only if you don't need any multiview and can get the audio from some monitor's headphone jack). I'm however concerned about build quality, stability of the firmware and the remote control software. We will see.
Great video, thank you. I'm setting up a live show where I need two pre-recorded videos to send to two different screens, and also to record video and audio of the live performance. Trying to get my head round the busses - I can set one live video camera feed to record to a USB drive using the stream/record/USB buss, send a pre-recorded video from the SD card to an HDMI output as the "program" and another pre-recorded video (also on the SD card - can it read two at once or would I need to use the other USB as an input from a drive - and can I even do that if I'm already recording to the other USB?!) as the "preview" to the other HDMI output. But I wouldn't be able to access the menu with this set up unless I added a laptop and the software. Have I got that right?!
I got the Osee Gostream Duet a couple days ago and I'm putting it through it's paces. While I really like the Headphone 3.5mm output which was missing on the ATEM Mini Pro, I can't seem to find how I can change the Headphone Output Gain independent of the Program output levels. Any help appreciated.
It would be good to know if you could set up macros to switch inputs between SDI and HDMI, then via Companion engage the macro from Streamdeck? That would in essence turn it into an 8 input switcher - or am I being too ambitious?
Good Question for you. I have this Osee GoStream Deck Dual. I have the OBSBOT Tail Air using it Wireless doing into the AUX input via NDI and it works well. GoStream Deck is limited to only 1 NDI source via AUX. OK, but I want to add two more Tail Air cameras total of 3 Wireless WiFi NDI to the network. So then after holding down the Play Button, I will see the 3 NDI sources on the NET. Question is... Can I build/record 3 different Macros on buttons ext. 1,2,3 each that the Macros is use to switch quickly & smoothly between the 3 cameras, in effect will seemingly give the GoStream Deck and effect 3 NDI source per say? Would this work, seting up 3 different Memory Macro buttons as a now 'Creative Switcher' to actively switch live between multiple NDI sources simulating a unlimited NDI source switcher? Using macros to break the limited barrier of the advertised ONE NDI source via the 1 AUX input. Can you check this out and see if it will work and let me know please so I can go ahead and order two more Tail Airs?? Thanks Friend.
Hi there. That's a great question, I'm not sure I'm the person to answer it......mainly because (1) I don't have a lot of time to set up and test and (2) I don't have/haven't purchased the NDI license for my Obsbot Tail air (oddly enough you asked about that particular camera and I do own it). I had to look up whether or not the Tail Air camera's NDI license was the full-version of NDI or whether it supported the NDI HX Codec, because the GoStreamDeck only supports the NDI HX version (it won't recognize full/regular NDI). So, the good news is that the GoStream Deck *SHOULD see your Tail Air camera as an NDI HX source......and I'm sure there *IS a way to program a macro do switch like you want, but I can't answer for sure at the moment. I will say that others have used a macro function like you're talking about on the GoStream Deck Duet to switch the main inputs 1-4 from HDMI-to-SDI, and then back to HDMI when needed.....to do, essentially, the same thing (switching a single input to a different physical source). I would try to join/check out the GoStream Deck Facebook users group, there's a lot of information there as well. facebook.com/groups/1294730764741870 Good luck
Marcus, good summary ... my interest is to really test NDI flexibility - I will have to check out features - I will have to do some more research for Osee GoStream
Hi there. Thank you. Keep in mind that, as of now, the GoStream Deck Duet can only use "NDI-HX" codec, it will not read/accept standard NDI signals. That does limit the GoStream Deck series because, as I (meagerly) understand NDI HX is that it's mostly a codec built into some PTZ cameras and it's also available as a smart-phone app to bring in a smart phone video signal over the network (again, those ios or Android apps using the NDI HX codec/protocol). So, for my use-case, that's limiting, but, at least it is a feature on the GoStream Deck Duet, whereas it's not even available on products like the Blackmagic ATEM series switchers.
@@FactorImagen As far as I know, since the Osee GoStream Deck says it accepts "NDI HX" protocol, then your NDI video has to be the "HX" version, which is only available in some PTZ cameras and if you have an NDI HX app from your phone, etc. Look up NDI vs NDI HX. In my opinion, this limits the Duet to very few NDI input sources.
Great video, very informative! In regards to the USB C inputs, can both be used for webcam inputs? I have an Osmo Pocket 3 and an Insta360 X3 and was hoping to be able to use them together. 1:36
Hi, good review, thanks! As for rebooting the device, in order not to burn out the I/O ports, you should always make a connection with the device disconnected. It is also extremely risky to turn on or off devices in the video mixer while working.
Hi there. Thank you. And thank you for the info. When you say “ you should always make a connection with the device disconnected,” are you saying that I should unplug the power supply before connecting or disconnecting HDMI or SDI cables? Or did you mean something else? From my understanding, especially with SDI, your end devices should always have a power source before plugging in SDI so the ports don’t get shorted out if there were any issues with your sitting and receiving devices’ power.
@@MarcusHutsell English is not my native language, so I use a translator :) I communicate among broadcast engineers and based on the experience of broadcasts, we have a rule not to connect the device to the hot. @@DedMedved Hi, I'm not understanding the comment "it is always advisable to perform switching when the devices are turned off". Surely all the devices must be on to do the switching.
@ttbirds1082 I think they mean “all devices must be turned off if you want to unplug or plug in something (HDMI, SDI, etc)….if you want to “swap” or “switch” them out and connect something else. “ I think the term “switch” here was used in a different context
Would like to see all Inputs support NDI, even if HX. Full would be nice. Seems like just adding a 10GB ethernet or perhaps 2 x 2.5/5 GB would be a great.
Yep, a bit disappointing, but at least I KNOW that I can alter the output of the Multivew audio with the knob, but I don't want to dig into a menu to do it. I most often monitor audio at my END-destination anyway, like monitoring through the headphone jack of an external monitor.....that way I know what the final result will be/sound-like, and if there are problems, I can back up from the end point to find them.
Hi great video. Do you mind if I ask you a question. I'm looking to do recorded and live stream directly with RUclips. I'm doing a 2 to 3 camera setup. I think you mentioned I can stream or record without a laptop. Can this be done directly from this switcher? So I don't need obs software and setting up sources and scenes in obs? Are you saying I can just buy this switcher plug in multiple cameras and switch back and forth to each camera view all directly from the switcher and stream it live or record it.
Hi there. So, YES, is the short answer. With the Osee GoStream Deck, you can stream WITHOUT a laptop. So, no OBS, etc. This switcher can stream to 3 destinations at one time. So you could stream simultaneously to Facebook, RUclips, & Twitch (for example) with just this device. You will need a laptop to import your streaming keys, so it's best to have a laptop handy on-site in case you need to upload a new key. But, if you know your streaming keys AND you know they won't change, you could load up the keys ahead of time and then just "start" streaming with the device. Of course, you'll need to give the GoStream Deck a hard-line internet connection via its RJ45 port, but.........correct......you can record and stream at the same time with this switcher. It does NOT record each input individually, you will only get a single video recording of your "program" cut, but that's a personal preference and you may not need or want the ISO's of each camera (then again, you can record to an SD Card on each camera if your cameras have internal recording capabilities) and you can have ISO's that way.
@@MarcusHutsell Are you saying that the recording of the file would NOT be one file for all camera footage and a sink audio? @GamblewithJimmy so, it’s the other way around: You do NOT get a file of EACH camera. You DO get a single, “program” recording of your video with audio.
