@@brianengler1229 Thanks for that. Yep, i think my own Bends cd suffered a similar fate. Guess he knows how to lodge music into a place from which it won't easily come out :)
Beck at his peak and i'm so glad to say I saw him live in 2002 in London. Sadly I partied hard that day and can't remember much. I'm certain I had one of the best days of my life.
I saw this live performance on PBS last fall 2017 for the first time. Beck Hanson won me over as a very talented and gifted singer and musician. Beck's Band id out of this world in talent and sound. Morning Phase and Sea Change CD's over the top.
If you paid twice, then perhaps You could shut up twice, Rockefeller. I snuck in and ate a corned beef, did the ,,'Hey! There's a fly in my soup!' Routine, walked in backwards, pretended I was leaving, stole becks guitar, ordered a pizza, put it on becks tab, hailed a cab, ran away without paying, dined and dashed at Grady's Home style pancake house and rifled through my roommates purse for cigarette money, and you paid twice. Smarten up, sucker.oh yeah, I got a half and half and only paid for the joint copping. Pay twice? Sucker.
Put your hands on the wheel Let the golden age begin Let the window down Feel the moonlight on your skin The desert wind Cool your aching head The weight of the world Drift away instead Oh-oh, these days I barely get by I don't even try It's a treacherous road With a desolated view There's distant lights But here they're far and few The sun don't shine Even when it's day Gotta drive all night Just to feel like you're okay Oh-oh, these days I barely get by I don't even try, I don't even try
I'm comforted by the fact that he got the lyrics wrong at 1:15. I never can remember them in the right order, either. He once said, when questioned whether his (usual) lyrical style is just nonsense put together, that of course the lyrics have meaning. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to remember them.
This album is really amazing start to finish. I think it never gained any iconic status because it’s really depressing and a departure from all the other stuff he did prior. A woman I used to be friends with who adored him to the point where he could do no wrong couldn’t listen to it because it was too sad.
I mean, he's a versatile artist. I see what you mean. In my opinion only, he'd probably feel trapped from what I've read about him and seen him say in interviews. But you're on the money about this style and him knocking it out of the park. Just sad the events that inspired it took place for it to come out.
When i split from my marriage, that was the tune that use to heal my wounds. Thanks, Beck.
The weepy pedal steel type licks on the tele with volume pedal and slide are the icing on this sadly beautiful cake.
whoever mixed that sound is a fucking genius. my fav Beck composition too.
Nigel Godrich he did Radioheads albums. When the Bends came out I didn’t take that CD out for 2 years! Love his style!

He did rip the progression from a Flaming Lips song he liked.
One of my favorite albums of all time
It's a masterpiece. Morning Phase follows suit.
Me too!!
Man do I love this album.
Best song of the last 20 years
This man's music is helpful.
This is the highest rank of "devastating, life-altering breakup" album. It helped me resolve a deep heartbreak I'd been dragging around for 8 years.
2:05 the most perfect, well placed little piano lick.
Had chills running over me the whole time. It’s somehow even better live. Beck is one of the best musicians of the 90s and 00s, prove me wrong.
Can't do it. He's a genius. I actually saw him live here in Tulsa in the early 2000's. Amazing gig
You should listen to the Flaming lips cover. Its also amazing
Beck has been amazing for decades.
Flawless live performances. A true artist. Would love to see him in person.
The lyrics were off but otherwise flawless and didn't take anything away from this performance!
What beautiful Telecaster with the Bigsby, sing along with Beck.
This is a perfect song.
This is a great song. Fun to play and add some cool lyrics of your own.
What a voice! And great musicianship from all the band members, without a doubt Beck's best live performance!

Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. Love Beck.
this is , I'm just speechless, what a genius Beck you rule my world!
You know what this song really needs? A xylophone. And it happened. It's like Stairway to Heaven: "hey guys, I'm thinking recorders."
What a great performance, slide guitar is soothing
If I could only listen to one album the rest of my life,.it would be Beck, Sea Change.
I saw this live performance on PBS last fall 2017 for the first time. Beck Hanson won me over as a very talented and gifted singer and musician. Beck's Band id out of this world in talent and sound. Morning Phase and Sea Change CD's over the top.
IT'S PERFECT
So true Beck...so damn true
What an amazing live performance. If I'd been there, I'd have felt compelled to pay twice

Tim Andrews is thuch a rebel
This album has been in heavy rotation in my house/car for about a decade
Best performance for SURE 🙂
This song reminds me of "I'm going home" (written in the 70's) in the Rocy Horror Picture Show.
So Great! Peace & Love! WooF!!🐶🐶
Beautiful song.
very nice - Thank you.
Thanks for this!
Sublime.
Beck is a rare talent
This song reminds me of All Things Must Pass by George Harrison.
Paco Squire yeah
imagine if only George Harrison could play slide guitar here....
@@amitandshirlimaimon5350 wouldn’t that be something
I can't find 5he words to this song anywhere. Can anyone help me out? Great singer beautiful voice. Second time hearing this.
Put your hands on the wheel
Let the golden age begin
Let the window down
Feel the moonlight on your skin
The desert wind
Cool your aching head
The weight of the world
Drift away instead
Oh-oh, these days I barely get by
I don't even try
It's a treacherous road
With a desolated view
There's distant lights
But here they're far and few
The sun don't shine
Even when it's day
Gotta drive all night
Just to feel like you're okay
Oh-oh, these days I barely get by
I don't even try, I don't even try
WOW its amazing how good his voice is. Husky|||
Beck is such a noble webelo who sells Girl Scout cookies 🍪
Austin City Limits is the last great television venue for good music and occassionally unknown artists.

I wonder if this is the first take? He took a second pass at it during the taping.
I caught the lyrics off too... Don't care, still beautiful ❤️

RJM Jr is such a great addition to the band
Loved his work in The Jellyfish along with Jason Falkner
Fuck! Motherfuckin! Brilliant
It is a goto
Instead : desert Wind, saied distant light, two times. Also the biggest fail...anyway i luv It.
Frightening that there are 7 people in the world that pressed the thumbs down button.
mjao!
Isn't this song The Allman Brothers Sweet Melissa ??????????
Startling resemblance
Beck he good ✅
When artists forget their own lyrics.
Who
Gus Seyffert rocks
Listening this makes you wonder why he bothers with any other genre.
I mean, he's a versatile artist. I see what you mean. In my opinion only, he'd probably feel trapped from what I've read about him and seen him say in interviews.
But you're on the money about this style and him knocking it out of the park. Just sad the events that inspired it took place for it to come out.
And he's good at ALL of them.
Beck likes pink floyd
Songs way too short.
One his absolute best songs on a mediocre album... a depressing album... this song is great listening while on the lake.
Late comment but it is one of the greateat break up albums of all time. Holy shit 5 stars from every credible music reviewer.
It's a great album.
This is an incredible album about processing a devastating, life-altering break-up. Maybe you'd be better off with some Taylor Swift?
