I wonder if Slaking would be more viable if Truant only blocked you from using offensive moves during it's Truant phase, still allowing you to do stuff like Rest, Protect, Slack Off, etc. which would make it predictable but maybe a bit more viable. Maybe give it Baton Pass and maybe either Swords Dance/Belly Drum or Nasty Plot too so the opponent has to predict if this is a Baton Passer set and thus they shouldn't protect, or a sweeping/choice set and they should protect.
Slaking's Special stats should be swapped, base 95 special Def and 65 special attack! Probably would have been a better pokemon overall maybe able to take a hit or 2 more

The best thing to do with Slaking, is make him part of a double/triple battle, have one of the other Pokémon have a move/ability that'll cancel out Truant and you're good. Exs -Gastro Acid will cancel out Truant. -Worry Seed with change it to Imsomnia. -Entrainment will change Truant into the user's ability. --Best users: Pangoro, Araquanid, Alcremie, Hawlucha, Pyroar, Dewgong. --Each one has an ability that help Slaking out offensive or defensively. -Mummy will make Mummy their ability on contact. -Wandering Spirit will swap abilities.
The only change I think Slaking needs would be this: Truant only activates when Slaking uses an attack. This would open up Slaking's movepool, letting it use other sets for a change.
Also, FSG said Slaking lack recovery. That's not true since it can use slack off; the thing is that slaking's hability forces him to use sets with 4 attacks.
Just think about Gorilla Tactics Slaking for a second. If Darmanitan’s 140 attack and 95 Speed makes it scary, Slaking’s 160 Attack and 100 Speed would be truly horrifying.
Kids will only go to school if they want, some get forced to it because they are loved, if there are threats, mistreat or violence then its crime, they got the right to ask for help and the choice to flee away into the unknown, many people would help them, many will but they can be far away, from all of this experience, they can learn. Schools pourpose include avoiding the harsh dificulty of being by yourself, also true that various schools teach diferent things, and there's been miss-information spread, sometimes partially on pourpose, but the people that seek to learn can learn.
how's about a Giga Impact then? Adamant with max attack and choice band?. I don't think it survives that one, and it's already not moving the next turn anyway.
Unlike Regigigas, however, Slaking's Ability actually seems warranted. I mean, rather than being a legendary (and one of the hardest legendaries to obtain outside of mythicals, at that), Slaking is really just an average Pokemon with a stat total rivaling Groudon and Kyogre. That said, its Ability is horribly crippling, but at least it can work decently enough as a one-turn nuke, since it can operate upon switching in and doesn't have to worry about its handicap until AFTER it uses a move. That sounds way better than what Regigigas has to put up with, considering it has to survive FIVE turns, with practically no healing or guard options, without ever switching out that entire time. Getting Regigigas to go well is like having the planets align perfectly in your favor, whereas Slaking just requires a decent enough prediction.
Or go play balanced hackmons after Slaking is released in dlc and see it Except if you're trying to make Slaking an overkill 'mon GT prolly isn't the way to go about it Cute idea though. Not only as he's a gorilla, but guerrilla tactics would be a good strategy for a glass cannon. Jump out and attack hard, run and hide before they retaliate.... Still likely not enough to compete in balanced hacks except maybe as a simple extreme speed double tap-er...... But cute
In a cave Slaking: *bashes Mewtwo into a rock wall* Trainer: Good work Slaking, now let's finish this! Slaking: *loafing around* Trainer: Oh come on! Mewtwo: *psychic flicks the trainer directly into a stalactite*
At least its getting some kind of reward of it. Doing nothing for one turn leads to devastating result for you especially when it originally does nothing. That is also why no one uses Hyper Beam/Giga Impact post Gen 1
Alas, we'll have to wait and see if the big oaf gets added in the SwSh DLC to see that. As well as whether or not Galarian Weezing's ability even works on Truant.
I've noticed something from watching your background footage... 🤔 Despite what GameFreak may or may not have said about upgrading animations for Sword and Shield, the old Stadium line of games actually had the most animated pokemon. The newer games animate the attacks but the pokemon themselves are stiff and lack so much personality compared to the Stadium style games. Even the camera be putting in work on regular moves in the Stadium games! 🤓 It would be AMAZING if they kept the new models they're clinging to so hard and reanimated them including idle, fainting, and damage taken animations for newer installments! Maybe even (and I know this may be asking way too much) have different animations between the two game versions the way older games had different sprites. 😍
yeah that last part was asking way too much lmao, there's 900 or so pokemon now, hell, it'd be too much work just to reanimate them at ALL at this point
@@happygamer_18 I feel like they should've stopped making new pokemon around Gen 4 or 5 and just use pokemon from those gens as starters. Add new mechanics like mega and tera type and possibly new legendaries but no more new pokemon. Sadly that ship has sailed...

Anything-That-Isn't-Truant slaking.
wonder guard slaking! (existant within power swap sheninja)
I think Truant should be that you can only use Slack Off or Rest or other relaxing sorts of moves during the Truant turn.
It 100% should have gotten belly drum. Look at the thing! Plus its a gorilla so its even more bs that it didnt

The only change I think Slaking needs would be this: Truant only activates when Slaking uses an attack.
This would open up Slaking's movepool, letting it use other sets for a change.
That would also allow him to somewhat counter protect setups, because that would switch the timing of truant.
Then the ability wouldn't be called Truant, but Procrastinate, hehe.

Imagine it getting Gorilla Tactics!!
Or huge power

Cute idea though. Not only as he's a gorilla, but guerrilla tactics would be a good strategy for a glass cannon. Jump out and attack hard, run and hide before they retaliate....
Still likely not enough to compete in balanced hacks except maybe as a simple extreme speed double tap-er...... But cute
To be fair, both slaking and regigigas have 670 base stats, but have abilities that effectively cut their attack and speed in half.
No. Regi has that. Slaking keeps all of its evil stats but truant just makes it useless because of protect

I've noticed something from watching your background footage... 🤔
Despite what GameFreak may or may not have said about upgrading animations for Sword and Shield, the old Stadium line of games actually had the most animated pokemon. The newer games animate the attacks but the pokemon themselves are stiff and lack so much personality compared to the Stadium style games. Even the camera be putting in work on regular moves in the Stadium games! 🤓
It would be AMAZING if they kept the new models they're clinging to so hard and reanimated them including idle, fainting, and damage taken animations for newer installments!
