  • Another amazing hike out in the Adirondacks! This was a really nice challenging hike coming in at about 21.75 miles with over 7,100' of elevation gain! Climbed Sawteeth, Nippletop, and Dial, stopping at Rainbow Falls, Indian Head, and Fish Hawk Cliffs along the way! This puts me at 41/46! I took the scenic route, which is the original route up Sawteeth, so of course, it had many incredible views along the way, foreshadowing the other mountains to climb, with a beautiful view at the summit of the Upper Great Range! The multiple outlooks along this route really help break it up and make the steep climb enjoyable. After the beautiful unofficial summit lookout, it was a short trip over to the true summit, which is slightly off the trail via a herd path. After descending the Weil Trail I stopped at the beautiful Rainbow Falls, cascading over 100' tall! The next stop was Indian Head followed by Fish Hawk Cliffs. Indian Head, not surprisingly, was crowded, regardless, it was absolutely beautiful! Fish Hawk Cliffs was a short walk from Indian Head and shared very similar views! Now the climb to Elk Pass. The unnamed ponds at Elk Pass were so beautiful, surrounded by such rugged terrain that it was a great spot to take in the beauty before climbing to Nippletop! The climb up Nippletop was relentlessly steep from Elk Pass, gaining 1200' of elevation in .8 miles! Nippletop absolutely blew my mind and is officially my favorite summit! The views were absolutely insane! The ridge over to Dial was really nice and mild. After Dial, it was a few ups and downs to Noonmark Shoulder, a beautiful spot of new growth due to a wildfire in 1999 that burned roughly 90 acres of land! I'm planning to do Colden and Marshall next! This will leave Allen, Gray, and the finish on Skylight!
