  • Dangerous problem with the fuel system that I found in my RYOBI 1800 (2300) watt generator after 400 hours of operation. The rubber fuel pipe touches the starter housing and wears through.

    I'd recommend buying Viton ViTube or the cheaper Tygon Excelon DEHP Vinyl from the U.S Plastics website. Use calipers to measure the fuel nipple fittings on the carboretur, the fuel valve petcock and the polyethylene gas tank. Measure past the barb where the hose will be clamped. Purchase a box of ViTube for each size by rounding down your measurement to the closest available inner diameter or ID of ViTube in the catalog. DO NOT PURCHASE REPLACEMENT FUEL LINE PARTS. Just use the good stuff!
    Cut your Viton fuel hose with a knife or use a PEX tube cutting tool. Insert needlenose pliers into the Viton hose and stretch it then apply silicone grease to the fuel barbs. For the fuel tank use a larger piece of Viton fuel hose and a polyethylene or brass reducing barb fitting and two clamps to interface the larger tank tube with the smaller tube for the fuel valve petcock.
    Upgrade to the indestructible synthetic rubber Viton! It is highly resistant to ethanol and gasoline. It can withstand 400 degrees of heat for prolonged periods. It is incredibly tough and durable making it resilient against vibration and abrasion. It will never harden or crack.
    The proprietary synthetic fluoro-elastomer rubber is patented by Chemours. They own the rights to it and there is no substitute for the real deal. Its different from rubber because its specially engineered to be incredibly resilient to survive industrial environments. Its superior in every way to the Chinese "fuel hose" that this generator comes with.

    Super GREAT tip!! Gas in the engine, and then FIRE!! Thanks for a GREAT SAFETY VIDEO!!

    Great advice here...replace them all, they collapse and are easily damaged when you service the generator, mine all leaked and the filters are terrible quality.

    I would like to express my disappointment with this generator. Since about 10 hours, this generator has been disappointing. It clogs up with debris, because it has no fuel filter on the tank I put side. All my other inverter generators have an in tank fuel filter assembly. Easy fix and you “could” make this the BEST inverter generator out there.

      It has regular small fuel filter.

      100% Agree with Carlos. Fuel filter must be relocate before fuel tank to protect the control switch be clogged by debris. Very good video my friend. Keep us uodated about any problem and how to fixed.

      570358170 - from tank to control knob valve.
      570358171 - from valve to fuel filter.
      570358172 - from filter to carburetor.
      This is from Ryobi Parts List Manual 998000248

    As my AiVolt 4300 inverter generator, the hose you're replacing has TWO different sized ends. This meant that the small end wouldn't fit on the fuel tank. So don't cut it off.

    Now I need to check my fuel lines 🤣👍👍 have you used the same model with battery starter? Thanks 🙏

      No, I've never seen this generator with an electric starter in the stores.
      If anyone has it, please check the fuel pipe under the control knob cover and post the information here.
      Very serious problem.

    Instead of cutting the pipe, will wrapping the fuel pipe with electrical tape or duct tape work?

    • @somethinguseful2935
      @somethinguseful2935  Год назад +1

      I solved this problem radically ))
      Probably the tape or heat shrink tubing could work well.
      Thank you for advice!

      @@Mrcabuag Gasoline is a mixture of different solvents that will dissolve the adhesive of duct tape and electrical within minutes

    • @Mrcabuag
      @Mrcabuag 7 месяцев назад

      @@AddyEspresso right. But I think in this use case, the gas shouldn't come into contact with the duct tape. If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of the duct tape would be to provide insulation keeping the heat from degrading the tubing. What do you think?

    • @AddyEspresso
      @AddyEspresso 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Mrcabuag It still won't work because those materials aren't heat resistant on their own and have no insulating properties. Additionally gasoline permeates through to release solvent vapors from inside even the toughest fuel line unless you use teflon lines with special fittings.
      You need to use Kapton tape which is a thermally reflective heat and solvent resistant polyimide material
