I really like how Apollo was potrayed, he ended up being a absolute CHAD. Not only was his fighting style and abilities some of the coolest in the series, but his backstory and ideals is some of the most wholesome stuff in the whole story. And while the fight felt a bit quick, I think the ending is one of the best in the series so far. Apollo holding both of his opponents and praising them as they fade away was beautiful.
They had been striving to get what they wanted because they knew even with losing things as a calamity, they would like what was left as a result.
apollo is a piece of shit like the rest of the gods. everyone just forgets he got leonidas and all of his comrades killed. yet he stood before leonidas telling him to bow. there is nothing wholesome about apollo. hes a narcissist that thinks the most of himself because hes a god. thats why he says he lives up the their expectations. he was already above any human, but he worked hard to be on the level of the other gods because he believes thats how a god should be. all powerful and above humanity. thats why he set that rule that almost got Sparta destroyed, thats why he told Leonidas to "remember hes a human" and told him to bow
In a weird way, this round was about meta expectations too
A lot of people thought leonidas would fight in the final round against odin. A lot people thought apollo would fight with a bow and arrow against simo
A lot had expectations of how these two would be, how they should be. And they were shattered. But, at least for me, in a good way. In fact, i like them and this round even more because of that
Everybody thought that apollo was like poseidon but he turned out to be like buddha
Probably the biggest plot twist I’ve seen he wasn’t born superior he earned it
thats disrespectful to buddha. buddha was a good man who believes in being humble. apollo is a smug bastard who thinks he can look down on people because he worked to stand amongst olympus. he lives in excess. Buddha loved people, apollo loves the gods
I'd say more like Heracles. But good sentiment.
I really wish we could have seen more leo attacks feel so rushed for someone so hype but maybe this a fight to show how op Apollo was but felt like we never seen Leo full potential
I guess in universe that’s just the result of a fight between a fast fighter with weaker strikes and worse durability against a slower fighter with far greater power behind their blows and way more impressive durability, Leo just due to the speed difference didn’t get many chances to land attacks however as we saw when they did land they were insanely damaging to Apollo, potentially I feel both showed off a lot of what made them strong it’s just for Apollo that was lots of weaker strikes and for Leo it was a handful of strong strikes, but I can defo understand the sentiment of not thinking Leo showed off his full potential
@@SephTheSin personally I was rooting for Leo all the way but I knew deep down it was over because of the speed blitz when he was dodging and Apollo near himself to fight in a straight line
@@SephTheSin I don't really think punching through a shield would be considered a "weak strike". Apollo was just stronger than Leo in every way imo.
@SephTheSin Also, unrelated, but the next round could be Simo Häyhä vs Anubis. You know, "The White Death." Vs the God of death. Maybe the thematic being how capable humans are at reaping death and destruction at an unimaginable scale just like the gods are.
with the exception of that final attack where he was launched by Artemis his strikes weren't that strong, I mean he punches Leo around 16 times some of which were while he had threads encasing his hands, and shoots him with at least 9 arrows, Leo on the other hand hits Apollo a total of 4 times and of those attacks 1 made Apollo fall to his knees another was deflected by the threads and his final didn't do anything since it was un-empowered by Volund, and yet by direct narration both are equally damaged, I think that makes clear the vast difference in their respective durability and AP, Apollo was carried by his speed, in that final clash though yes Apollos attack was stronger, but on average his where a lot weaker since you know his 16 punches and 9 arrows did about the same damaged as 1 headbutt, 1 hammer strike, and a deflected shield smash
Something that occurred to me, is how often a character, be they god or human, is participating in Ragnarok but doesn't seem to actually CARE about the competition or the stakes involved. They're just doing whatever, engaging in their daily routines, or blatantly unconcerned by everything until their specific number is up.
That's not how it is. Sorry.
@@wildman7220it is
Even if that was the case, that kind of motivation can only hurt you, and seeing as how some of them probably had no clue as to if they would win, just enjoying themselves would be the most they could do
@justinweber4977 How the hell did you come to that conclusion to be so wrong I guess adam didn't give a single shit to what the outcome was thats why he continued to fight post death
Make it make sense
There's two part to a Record of Ragnarok fight. The hype and amazing art of every fight. And the amazing analysis from this channel.
Despite what people have been saying, I thought this was a good round. Leo and Apollo were both fun characters to watch, and the short fight was chalked full of fun moments. It was a good fight
Round 9 was very popular.
Good but not great like the others.
@@QuazarNovaPrime qin shi huang and hades was the best
At least Apollo kept to what he said before going to fight, that as long as the fighters have shown everything and done their best in the fight then to Apollo he’ll think that those souls will be beautiful.
I’m just so sad they didn’t both survive and become massive bros 😭😭😭
Imagine Apollo just bringing Leonidas to important God meetings, just because they're good buddies now-
@@Faustulousif they didnt have to fight to the death, this is what would happen
My biggest critique for this fight is the fight itself like what the other commenter said it felt rushed. Didn't realize you just released this
Yeah that’s something I agree with, I feel another chapter of back and forth before Leonidas made Apollo kneel and his face got scarred would have been nice, still even if it was short I feel it delivered on all its important points, even if it’s prefer some to have been fleshed out more
@@SephTheSin i definetly agree with this
@@SephTheSin Btw, when it comes to Apollo, something I would like to add is also, that the pedestal he worked so hard to archieve is also what alienates him from the humans, who come to view him the same as other gods, somebody largely superior and absolute, instead of seeing his true self of somebody who believes that beauty is in everyone. We see this with how humans misunderstood is command to know thyself, which he meant to be encouraging for humans but they took as a sign of having to acknowledge his superiority. Similarily with the Oracle in Sparte, it is likely that he would have had no problem with the spartans fighting during the time of the festival if they otherwise would be conquered, as we know that he himself will fight to protect others. It is the image he projected based on the expectations of others, that made them mischaracterize him. I would also argue that these expectations made himself act against who he is, acting boastful and arrogant for the first half of the fight, until he finally starts to find beauty in the battle and in it, reveals his own beauty. It fits thematically well, that after Apollos superficial beauty is ripped away from him through his face being split open, his true inner beauty gets to shine through.
These two really respect each other💯
It is always a good fight when you don't want either to die and they got that mad respect going around. (Minus Tesla vs Beelzebub, because Beelzebub really wanted to die, and with good reason. His life sucked.)
People really not liking Leo’s showing, but I will defend that attack that left such a deep gash on Apollo’s face looked so amazing the first time it was shown. It looked like his whole head was close to splitting open. One of the best gore moments in the series (Shiva splitting Raiden’s arm will always be #1)
Nah, Sasaki dicing that arrogant bitch Poseidon is the best gore scene. I had no problem with how Thor gave Lu Bu the warrior’s death he never got irl, but Zeus pulling a new rule out his ass to stop Heimdall from officiating the knockout to cheat Adam out of a deserved win made me pray the writer goes for a pantheon wipe right in front of his eyes. To see his just as awful brother get killed in a way more violent manner than what warriors of Kojiro’s time suffered was like watching one of those “karma’s a bitch” videos
Leo is pretty popoular.
@@notproductiveproductions3504I think it's more the way of how Shiva tears apart Raidens arm, like, Poseidon was cut to pieces in clean strikes, but with raiden you could see how his skin and flesh were torn apart and burned but Shiva's attack, plus that way of an arm getting torn apart is fucking horrifying.
@@usssouthdakota5541 we weren’t talking about Shiva vs Raiden
@@notproductiveproductions3504 nah I was just saying why I and many others think that Raiden's arm getting split is the best gore scene
This video was amazing. I enjoyed the analysis. Keep up the good work. The passion is clearly evident, as it screamed to my soul. It was truly... beautiful ;)
Thanks so much
@@SephTheSin can I ask what is the music you used for your video? I like it and wish to know what it is, so I can listen to it :)
I truly believe They had to wrap this match up cuz of the anime also once that Apollo backstory happened it was a wrap I knew he would won
I honestly believe this bcuz the start of the fight had such hype to it but the end felt rushed no extra fighting, but don't get me wrong this fight was great in the storytelling and leonidas and apollo were cool. I wish later down on the line they retell this round and dont rush it or the webtoon fixes it.
@@anthonyjohnson4642there’s a webtoon?
Imma laugh if Netflix is postponing season three a little longer to keep the streak of season finales going to Team Mankind
@@notproductiveproductions3504 yo true cuz qin shi Huang is starting season 3 of right now we not gonna see season 3 till 2026 minamun
I was already crying when the fight was ending, but I started bawling when Apollo was holding the two of them as they crumbled at the end
You sound just like Göll
A very amazing video 10/10
Made me appreciate this fight more then i already did
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it, Round 9 don’t get too much praise so glad I could make you appreciate it even more
Nah. You didn't have to cosplay as leo. But you did. This is truly sparta 😂
This actually makes me so excited and makes me want to see if they are going to do apolo vs Jack the Ripper 2 people that have different philosophies on beauty!
So there is this one panel of Ares having a stern face when leonidas dies and apollo holding him, why do you think he made that face?
If I could have changed anything in this fight it would be that they added just one more chapter after the Apollo isn't Posiedon reveal so we could truly have more of a hope for the two sides to win.
Despite people saying Leo is the worst character he's in my top 3 favorite of human fighters
Same here
I wanted to see Leo continue to batter apollo after he got impaled. It would be a cool climax if it’s a race between beating Apollo’s face in versus Leo’s sole slowly shattering. I also missed a few of these references thanks for the vid
Leonidas I...............WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE THE WORLD BIGGEST BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another beautiful video, it doesnt matter how many views u get i will always love your content and many do already
Still cried when Leonirdas died but I will admit the fight inspired me
Also it's gonna be Soji Okita vs Susano'o no Mikoto
I've read this fight multiple times now and I cry every time. The ending is just so emotional.
I was so angry and disappointed the first time because I really wanted Leonidas to win. But I just couldn't hate Apollo by that point.
I didn't catch that he stopped Leonidas' knees from touching the ground until you pointed it out, (which made me tear up again) I'd just seen it as him catching him from falling...but wow, that's even better and I think even elevates Apollo above Buddha for me.
I see a ton of hate for this fight on reddit and a lot of hate towards Leonidas, but by main issue is the length. I wanted more and I feel like we needed at least two more chapters...but maybe that was also the beauty of this round, it let us see what we needed and not what we wanted.
I really hope the anime does this battle justice and can bring all these points home.
This was a pretty good fight tho it felt super rushed. I also kinda wished this fight was a draw and both of em lost. However I am glad The handsome one Aka Apollo did win it also means that my Boi Rasputin has a higher chance of winning.
I kinda wish apollo got his sister actually cheering him on, even if it means taking a little more time with his backstory, idk having ares being his own connection makes me salty especially when bloody shiva got an entire pantheon for him but i understand it requires a lot from the creator
Leonidas got his inner Kratos lol
Leo my Goat went out like a chad and my opinion of Apollo did a complete 180 loved these two both some of my favourite Characters l had just hopped the fight was a little longer then it would probably be my favourite.
For now tho round 7 still on top tho
I loved this fight so much ❤ great analysis!
Thank you!!
I think the theme of this battle is Expectation through results or actions.
I hate how i disliked this fight at first, lol. I think I was just salty that Leo lost but looking back...this is a great fight.
I love these analytical videos. Your Leonidas cosplay was on point too
Thanks so much, and theres pics of the finished cosplay on my insta if your intrested with the shield and full scar makeup
@@SephTheSin Yes! I will give you a follow there. Also, I will be picking up one of your graphic novels soon. I wrote my own comic universe so I'd like to support you that way as well
I like how the themes of the fight is similar to rocky balboa with all that matters to both rocky and leonidas is them going the distance and giving it their all
We’ve had two human losses in a row, the last of which to a Greek god. This has happened before, and the pattern was broken by a Japanese swordsman. Oh hey there’s another Japanese swordsman on the roster OKITA HERE WE COME WOOOOO
hey man! love the content. Those blue things that keep spinning around the screen be bugging me tho
I used to be disappointed and even hated this fight. I made the exact mistake that this fight proved. I had high expectations. but now. I can see how beautiful this fight was. it wasn't what I wanted, but now I see, it was a wonderful fight.
how do you not tear up when reading this script QwQ
The battle of the chads
This fight needed to have one more chapter . Mabye one where we see Leonidas' childhood and what made him the way he is followed by more fighting where Leo would have another time to shine .
If you reread ch.86 you see the impact Leo has on okita and how his will isn’t done just yet, mirroring Adam and telsa.
Im oso interested in howd you title each of the previous fights as thumbnails.
So far i noticed
1.beauty vs sparta
2. Hope vs despair
3. Self love vs self sacrificing (buddha vs zero)
4. Hardwork vs Talent (kojiro vs poseidon)
I was waiting alot for this video
Personally, I wish Leonidas could have shown more of his military prowess. Cuz iirc, he was said to have adapted his military tactics into the modern age, but I never really saw that myself
That, and I was partially hoping to havr a mix up of Strength winning over Speed for once, contrasting with Raiden vs Shiva where it struck me as Strength vs Speed respectively too
I still love his character nonetheless. Leonidas has always been one of my favorite historical figures, being the epitome of courage that makes me tear up regardless of iteration
My initial impression of this fight was this was that one point where the writer has to give you an antagonist to root for but didn’t know how to because the team he’s on won’t allow the audience to do so, so the author has to drag down the protagonist
If I rank this battle in my favorite, I consider it my no. 4
Apollo was the sweetest guy ever after all that hard work Artemis & leto would be proud of him
My predictions for the rest of ragnarok:
10) Soji vs Susanoo (just started now as of writing this). Ending in a tie
11) Nostradamus vs Loki. Ends in Nostradamus winning
12) Rasputin vs Anubis. Anubis wins as Rasputin finally accepts death
13) Kintoki vs a new God. Kintoki wins but the new god dying was part of Odins plan somehow
14) Simo vs Odin (Simo is the most recent human fighter to live so it just makes sense imo for him to go up against one of yhe oldest Norse Gods). Either Simo wins and Ragnarok is over or Odin wins amd we see a big final battle as the gods are about to qhipe out humanity
Was this the Second low diff of the tournament besides the buddha and zero fight
They both embody progress in a way
NOOOO!! First Nikola Tesla, now’s LEONIDAS!?! NOOOOO! They’re the two of the greatest human being!! They can’t lose like that!! That’s so unfair!!! I hope Soji is gonna win in the next round! HE BETTER NOT GONNA LOSE!! He’s a some potential!! 😭😭
Heard Round 10 will either have Okita win or be a tie
I look forward to your videos!!! I lovee your analysis of each fights!!!
I x appreciate Leonidas as a character, he is not as deep and as unique. He seems like another copy of raiden n lubu. But apollo as a character was just written way better. Very one sided for me. Apollo backstory was a win but overall one of the worst fights in the series.
I think next fight is gonna be between susano and okita. Susano will win
as a greek i am very angry at this series leonidas was the greatest warrior and lost they didnt even puted in the greatest leader alexander the great
I loved the video but I hav a good question I always wanted to ask a RUclipsr or anyone who is reading this comment who would you choose from the modern era to participate in a fight and what weapon would they have
Do you know where it would be so hilarious all this for nothing at the very end of the series just for the gods wanting a rematch with humanity all over again because they just like them so much reversing everything that happened
or they js fight for eternity
I was hoping Leo would win..... Dammit....
sick intro
Thanks man
Can the next record of ragnarok battle would be about okita souji
Technically Qin shi killed a demons without a voland in his flashback
Nothing technical about it lol. He did win.
Nah the Greek Pantheon is never escaping the L lovers allegations 😭
i wish Leonidas won or i really wished this fight was a draw so that both could live or die
I disagree about the god statement shiva and beezelbub go crazy
Is that me saying only Apollo made it in my top 10 characters? Cause Shiva was there but got knocked out by these 2 chads 😅 if you’re curious my character rankings are 1)Adam 2)Sasaki 3)Buddha 4)Tesla 5)Qin Shi Huang 6)Leonidas 7)Apollo 8)Goll 9)Alvitr 10)Ares (and yeah Shiva would be 11)
@@SephTheSin I always seperate it humans and gods qin shi Huang is number 1 for humans budda for gods
Lets be fair Apollo can go Toe to toe with Adam in a boxing match.
Fire ass cosplay 😂😂😂
I just...didnt like the fight itself. Thematically its done well enough. But Leonidas just wasnt that impressive.
I think that’s fair, you can acknowledge something’s merits without personally enjoying it,
Leo was amazing.
Record of W
Don't start the video by spoiling its ending pls
The video starts with a spoiler warning saying the video will discuss the ending of Round 9, I'm not sure what else I could have done, its not my fault you got spoiled when you didn't bother to read the spoiler warning I inserted specifically to stop people getting spoiled
Leo was a disappointment they should have sent him up against zeus as a sacrifice
Why though?
Man this guy makes the manga better with his commentary when the author literally has the worst writing i have ever seen in a manga that is this popular.
The writing is godlike, tf you talking about lmao
you really are bit boutiful dude
its the voice dude just work on the voice
Team WApollo day one, Leos hate was onesided and dumb. His spartan crowd was insufferable. Leo literally only landed 5 hits! Apollo handicapped himself and his backstory shows he earned everything and uplifts people. Also Apollo literally couldve won in chapter 80 if he kept putting the Boxing work on Leos fraud ass. But no he fought fair, and in the End turned himself into an Arrow! Apollo using his own INJURED arm, to smash through Leos shield and kill Leo?!
Praise the SUN!! Leo is a fraud, hes not a chad. Chad's dont whine and have onesided beef. Thats fraud behavior.
Nah, man, is here hating you. I didn't watch the video did you
by far the worst fight in the entire serie, the author made a joke out of leonidas showing him, the king of sparta, as one of the weakest human fighters, really dissapointing
