I did just that - turned the ignition on with not the air bag, but there is an explosive device that tightens the seatbelt I can not remember what the thing is called set off the warning light . It is so useful being able to jump in the back from the drivers seat it was worth all the hassle - drive safe
Firstly got to say excellent build so far. Just watching through in my spare time. Just want to query your rear seat install. With everywhere else you have maintained a vapour barrier and heat transfer barrier. Didn’t notice one here. Was there a particular reason? Thanks.
Yes, it wouldn’t be particularly possible here just because of the mounting methods needed to mount the chair securely. That being said regarding a moisture barrier on the floor is less important, moisture tends to rise, as warm air is less dense. Even with the Arctic travel down to -38 at times I’ve never seen frost on the chairs base.
We have watched a ton of your videos on converting the ford transit mk8, I own a 2019 model mk8 and just bought a swivel seat base from custom campers I think, anyway you wrote in the video the tx55 fits roughly, not sure why you said roughly, my question is does it fit well because I need to buy on to do my seat as well.
Thank you very much for watching the reason I said it fits roughly as technically the bolt isn’t a TX, it’s something else I can’t remember the name of which is obscure to get hold of but the TX bits are very similar and fit quite well.
@@MispronouncedAdventures ahh I see now, thx again for the video, I bought a swivel seat base from custom designs and fitted it tonight, im pretty pleased with it but its not the same as the single seat version which is far easier to turn around.
Door looks to be slightly ajar still, rest of the door appears to be wet in the centre section. So must’ve been raining outside and still slightly open
Awesome video, Transit seats appear to have skyrocketed in price. If I were to do it this way (I have exactly the same van), what seats does this limit me too (MK? and just 'transit)? I also know a good mobile Welder. would you recommend welding that metal to floor as opposed to what you have done?
I think generally any seat with work in this Configuration, as in making your own Mount with steel box section. MK8 transit minibus seat ( like I used as my new front seat seems to come up quite often in the UK on Facebook self camper van built groups.
No problem I get asked a lot actually. It’s going to be a fold down bed located on the cabinets on the passenger-side, which is why that side has the shorter overhead storage. During the day the bed can be folded up into their and I have full access to the van. And during the night it can be folded down or if I want a temporary garage I can keep the bed folded down
Well done on the front seat install. Are single Transit passenger seats really hard to find? I was wondering why you did it this way. Mind you i nearly gave up looking for a single seat for my Primastar but found one out the blue in the end!
It’s not that they are that had to find, but they certainly are no common. Price is the main one I’ve seen them listed anywhere from £650-£800 + shipping on top. Since I was given it this one for free I decided to use it
@@MispronouncedAdventuresI totally undersatnd. I thought captain chairs for VW t4's were rare and expensive til i searched for Trafics/Vivaros etc. Similar to you, £400-500 minimum, each 😨 Theres no way I'd have paid that but found one for £110, it was covered in dog hair and was the wrong colour but still worth it. We might think in a similar way, i don't mind spending where i have to but if it feels like a rip off and theres a way to work around it i will 👍
Single seats can be sourced from the rear of minibuses. There’s usually someone converting a minibus who wants rid of their excess seats. Alternatively, coach companies with disabled seating sell off their seats. They will be on Unwin rails. I got two singles and four doubles from the free ads. I took them all so I could cannibalise them to get a good one

The explosive device is the called pre-tensioner. Yes, I’m very happy with the ability to walk between the cab and habitation area with ease.

17:45 Is that water running down the gap between sliding door and van? Or is the sliding door not shut?

Nice one mate! Just watched a load of your videos really nice job 👍 can I ask where do you plan to put your bed?

Yeah in thing all I had to buy was steel and bolts which I both got off eBay
