I've been living my 97 Chevy Astro van for 3 years now with two small dogs I've driven it from northern California to southern California to Sacramento to San Francisco you name it the beach Pacifica anyway I love my van it's a cargo van it's just the right size for me just the right side of the engine too way better gas mileage than a V8
wife an I have a 94 small Astro van doesn't have a raised roof but we just use it for a bedroom we pull a 4x8 trailer that I built her a kitchen in it we travel all out west we leaving Missouri January 1st heading to quartzsite Arizona for the rest of the winter I subscribed to your channel we also have a channel traveling with Mel & Alex well you have a great day
Just bought my 1987 astro Chevy con van plan to hit the road my home in VA plan to keep see how well I do on the road maybe I'll see u out there thanks for some new ideas
This is awesome! There’s a 2003 with 53,000 miles for sale near me and they’re asking $8000 obo and I’m seriously considering buying it and getting rid of my rent.
Nice setup. I like the use of space and simplicity with the bedside table/pullout drawer. I just bought a 2001 awd im attempting to build out. Peace from great lakes/pnw wanderer.
Just pick a place and start is what I had to do. I started by taking out the seats and then did the flooring, etc... starting is the hardest part. Also don’t buy a lot because you’ll figure out what you need along the way. Omgosh I wasted sooo much $$ by buying shit I ended up not using/needing.
This was awesome to see, as I am trying to do something similar with a 2002 Astro. One thing I did not notice (and have been working on, on my van) is curtains, or 'privacy' features. Also, (and I understand if you don't wish to say anything regarding this) do you have any enhanced security features, such as alarms, camera's, etc. ? Also, does the Yeti drain your battery hard, or do you have two batteries,or I guess I'm just asking how your electrical works? Is it hard on the battery? What happens if you fall asleep with stuff on, and wake up with a dead battery, in the middle of nowhere? Thanks, in advance, for any sharing of knowledge, as it is hard to come by, and your set-up looks absolutely fantastic, and very comfortable. Good luck on your journeys and glad I found (and sub'd, liked, etc) your channel. :)
Thank you so much! So I ended up ditching the yeti because it was extremely glitchy I now have a $250 jackery that works way better, I charge it off a solar panel that’s fold up when we are stopped. It’s able to run the fridge during the day. We don’t have security features, and I have since added some curtains!! Maybe I’ll post a new video soon with the updates to the van and explain why
I had to replace the ring terminals on the kit that came with the goal zero, to get wider ones that I could attach to my car battery. It’s kind of Jerry rigged, I couldn’t attach it perfectly so I just unscrewed the positive and negative connections on my battery, and then just bent the ring terminals in there and reattached it, also I’m running through the cord through my driver window right now. Someday I’ll get it going through my firewall!
I got the van from craigslist, and I ordered the goal zero from goal zero! But just so you know I’m actually waiting for a replacement unit, because this car connection kit isn’t compatible with this version of the yeti, so they’re sending me a yetix. Hopefully that works better because I’ve had a lot of issues with this one
The AC unit 🧐 what are you using? I like what you've done great ideas 👍 I had a small RV was going to rebuild it cops helped destruction of evidence 🤣 Better to laugh then 😭 My thought is astro as efficiency on wheels and small trailer. Army AL 🤠😎
Thanks for this! I’m starting my van build tomorrow and I’m going to build a bed very similar to this. My one question is what do you do when the bed is in sofa mode and you want to open up the back? Do you have something that holds the back of the memory foam up?
@@TreeandJulia Awesome! I'm currently near Canton North Carolina camping in the Mountains.. gonna be Westward soon. Maybe we'll cross paths one day. 😊 Keep having fun and travel safe!
i live in a 1995 Astro. i like what you’ve done with yours, especially the pullout pantry. well done!
Thank you ! 😝
Joe I’m about to buy a 95 safari. And my question is what did you do with the floor

I used to drive an AstroVan in the 90's. I never ever thought to actually LIVE in my van! This is awesome! I shoulda done it!!!!!!
Hahaha it’s a squeeze but it provides the basics !
I can tell by the way you smile when you’re describing things that you enjoy what you’re doing, and that’s all that counts. Have a blast!

This is the ultimate clean and simple car build! Looks super comfy. More comfy than some other way more expensive builds 🎉
The conversion van headroom is a big plus too. So you can sit up without scrunching your neck to the side👌

Yeah I feel like it’s one of the smallest vans two people can live in, which is awesome for being stealthy and saving gas
Wow I just had a 60s flashback!! Even the “Peace” sign, love it😎 You did a great job on the van.
thanks so much for watching!!
I live in a 21 foot winnie. Always looking at new setups for ideas. Thx. Florida for now.
I just got a "new" 97 Astro and was planning a major build but thanks to you I am going to tone it back and include the basics.
Cheers,
Bob
I just bought a 97 and I'm excited.
I love your vibe. I'm starting the vanlife in 2022. Can't wait! Just need to find me a lady who doesn't think vanlife is weird, and make memories
Many friends to make on the road, or concider a dog? :)
@@TreeandJulia hey. Thanks for the reply. I can't wait to join the vanlife family. And I'll definitely be bringing my pup along for the journey

Cool! I've got a 2001 Astro Van. Different version but you've given me some ideas. Thank You 😊
awesome to hear :)
I really like that your van is the conversion astro. That extra ceiling space makes a difference.
Nice build and gorgeous lady!
thank you so much! yeah, sometimes i wish for a high top but its still better than an astro without the conversion!!
I just bought a 1998 that's a lot like yours. You have some really good use of space without covering up your windows. Love it ❤️
Thanks so much! Good luck with your build!
I currently have a tiny home on 20 acres.
But have the urge to live The nomad lifestyle ✌️
Love the interior! Wish I had a bigger fridge like yours.. but the small one fits so nicely as a center console!

I was wondering how long I'd have to read the comments before seeing some slimeball commenting on the female owner. Not long...just as I figured!
Really love this video! Please make more!
This was very similar to what I did back in 97-99 in Northern California! Love it!

What size mattress did you use? I have a queen and it takes up the whole width. I'd love to have a table with a pantry on one side like you instead

Can i ask how tall you are?
