I remembered ! The Poms are correct . The language known as English did indeed evolve originally on ' that sceptred isle ' . And it continued to evolve or grow as people either emigrated from the UK or learnt English as a consequence of being part of the British Empire . Even in the US which was once part of ' The Empire ' until George and his slave owning freemason friends decided that was not working for them .
