I think a character deserving of a mention is Byleth. When Byleth was added, everyone was calling them low tier garbage on account of their poor movement and frame data until MkLeo picked them up and showed that the character was very capable in the right hands. I also think a major contributing factor was that people wanted Byleth to be bad because they were mad about their inclusion.
holy shit you've come such a long way with your editing. It's great to see you're willing to constantly learn and improve with each video. Congrats, it's been amazing to see your growth both in subs and video production.
great video! one suggestion is just to space each section of the video out a little bit more - kinda felt like it moved from one character to another when i wasn't expecting it (i.e. moving on to ice climbers when puff was still on the screen). still good work :)
One big factor that you didn’t mention for brawl icies was that as time went on, the stage list shrank. Ice climbers do pretty bad on stages that were around during the early Brawl days such as rainbow cruise and brinstar (and more). As these stages got banned (often in an attempt to limit mk), icies got better and better, since they do best on static stages like battlefield and final destination, and that was increasingly what the stage list was made of.
The thing with Mewtwo was mostly his behiav of buffs, specially to his movility. I don't understand why he was ever slow in melee: Mewtwo in Pokémon has 130 base speed, which is ridiculously high and even more for gen 1 standards, and is its selling point among legendaries. Is not the most useful on defense among them btw, which is why I'm fine with him being a glass cannon in Smash. Someone mentioned in other Mewtwo-related video that it in Smash is like Akuma in Street fighter: A glass cannon among glass cannons, who has more options than everyone but balanced by awful endurance and therefore relying on winning all the time, which makes him very tough to balance. He's either OP, not worth mastering or straight up bad; It just can't be a healthy high tier. Right Now Mewtwo is in that Mid-Tier status who makes it just not being worth trying, somewhat underrated but also understandably overlooked because, Why would you play Mewtwo when there's better glass cannons like Fox, Aegis or Mr. Game & Watch? Specially the latter due to having similar playstyle to Mewtwo but better in general.
Mewtwo's mobility is pretty good in Melee Id argue. He has a really good wavedash and good air speed. Although Yeah I do find it odd his dash speed is below average in melee. Ive always thought mewtwo was criminally underrated in Ultimate and is actually more of a low high tier in that game but Ik thats a bit of a hot take
For brawl, you could argue it's actully olimar, as he was considered a mid tier character when the game first came out, he was ranked at 18th place, but them he rose at 11 place for the 2nd tier list, and then 10th in the 3rd tier list, and then he remained at 10th place in the 4th tier list, he ranked 8th in the 5th and 6th tier list, but he only became a top tier character in the 7th tier list, where he ranked 2nd on that tier list, did dropped to 3rd in the final tier list, and 4th in the post brawl community tier list, but still
It's been too long since I played Ultimate. Sonic is in fact my main. He has been my main since Brawl. There are still things I don't fully get with the fighter that I see pros do that I just can't but Sonic is a lot of fun to play and yeah I have noticed he is pretty awesome in Ultimate just like he was awesome in Smash 4
Ultimate has a lot of underrated characters, mainly the heavies that the community unfairly rank as Bottom Tier despite being great. ESPECIALLY K. Rool, Dedede, and Ganon. Hell, even LITTLE MAC has some players that are great with him
I mean, unless you mean like between games, Yoshi is probably one of the least buffed characters from balance patches in the whole series. Being completely untouched by Smash 4 balance patches and the only change he got in Ultimate was fixing his collision during his F-Smash, which is technically a nerf, because before the patch certain characters just straight up couldn't grab him during his f-smash charge animation.
Ice Climbers were everyone's losing Matchup, getting grabbed was a lose condition... the only reason why Meta Knight was ranked better is because he just has the best moves on a vacuum and the movement to make use of them... though he had to play campy if he wanted to avoid the nasty IC grabs.
@@chrispo7610 (Having better moves + Better mobility = Being a better character)... I thought saying he's better because he's better would be redundant.
how was smash 4 mewtwo hype? he wasn't in the base game even though everyone thought he would be and then they said they would release him on april 1st. like, seriously? who the fuck was supposed to believe that? not to mention they locked him behind a paywall, which is an EA-level business practice. i'm so fucking glad the wii u failed, it was nintendo at their absolute scummiest.
Yoshi is pretty much universally agree to be fourth or tied with falcon for third in 64 at this point
Honest Content is the most slepted on channel, this video is really good man. Your editing is crazy.
All love man 🙏👍
"Slepted" im gonna kill somebody (in melee (in minecraft (in minecraft)
I remember the hype with Mewtwo being announced for DLC. It was nice to see Mewtwo eventually become a good character after being a low tier in Melee.

Byleth got crazy range though
Incineroar as well, but he needed less buffs than Sonic for people to realize he was a High Tier

Ultimate sonic to be fair is a scary character when he is not trying to time out and is on the offensive
True, and in some matchups it is better for him to just destroy you like that

I wrote the tier placement history on most of the 64 pages
Is everyone really forgetting when we all thought Steve was low mid tier for like a whole year since his release?
True honestly he should have been mentioned because he was never really changed as well
5:04 Bro, if I shield my eyes, I’m guaranteed to get grabbed by them anyways.
You gotta run faster bro 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
2:52 Not everybody's cup of tea yet you clearly show a cup of coffee.😂
I hope you're well too mr honest

Ice Climbers are the Gloom Hands before they even excised.
These underrated characters have ways to winning easy sometimes
As long as Puff is underrated, the world is safe from more Puff players.
I'm just gonna thank you for not pushing this myth that Sonic was better on wifi.
Im Glad Yoshi was buffed

He he, underratedness
Could you please do a video on Young Link?
he already did way back
Can you really consider Smash 4 Mewtwo to be underrated when he needed to be heavily buffed for him to be viable?
Yes IMO, in a sense thats how Sonic became good, thats how a lot of characters become better is thru buffs.
I thought the ice climbers was meta knight's only losing match up

Man imagine if miyamoto never gave yoshi a flutter jump.
But seriosuly though puffs tier would be so different without hbox
You mean Hbox and Mang0
I can never hate sonic.
Villager….
HDR Sonic is Steve's only worthy opponent.
How is Sonic underrated?
Smash ultimate mewtwo underrated 😢
I agree
Tail hurtbox, trash grab, and trash scoop on upsmash hold him back. Hes fun tho
