Hi Dr. Been taking metformin for the past 14 years. I lost 14 lbs the first couple months. Have my kidneys check every year. Never have any problems. Thanks for the information.
@lyndap.3701, thanks for sharing! It's great that you're being proactive with your health and your checks. Keep up the good work!
Creatin (kidney) below 30 Make sure it doesn't get below 30.
Vitamin B12
Dihydero-berberine
Thank you for another great video. I watch them when I can
I remember when I was prescribed Metformin because from that time on I kept packing on the pounds, even with a major dietary adjustment. 🤦🏻♀️
I also had a lot of weird side effects from it. I took myself off of it after 4 years of trying to keep the weight down and tired of feeling foggy and sleepy all the time. Soon after the weight starting dropping off of me and I'm still losing. I'm also on a keto diet but that's my personal choice. It helps me to not have cravings for carbs and sweets like I was before while I was on metformin.
I'm feeling so much better and a lot more energy. I'm not advising anyone to do what I did because that was my own choice. I just felt something inside telling me what I needed to do for me, but I am much healthier now and actually excited to see my doctor at the end of the month and get all my results. Last time I was in she told me to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing because it's definitely working.
YES!!! I encourage you to find my post and read it . I LOVE What you said, yes, always hungry on metformin. I too am feeling so much better OFF of metformin. The brain fog was HORRIBLE, And I have had the BEST SLEEP since getting OFF of Metformin. I was chronically tired with that metformin and never really slept well. My life in the last 10 days changed because I am off of it. I too started Keto/Carnivore....yes cheated a bit, but am trying not to. I eat right and I feel good, and am sleeping the best I have slept in over 14 years. Great Note you left
Maybe why I feel foggy & sleepy because of metformin?
I also take triglycerides medicine, gemfibrozil and Raspustatin. A1C is 6.7.
@@SweetChicagoGator Totally could be....For me I was always foggy, my short term memory was the WORST. People thought I was getting the old timers disease. I was sleepy all day and at night could not get a restful sleep. I literally have had the BEST Sleep now in 14 years and NO LONGER Feel Foggy headed. If I were you I would post what you said here in a POST All on its own, and see if the Doctor here will reply to it. Also, I WOULD Talk to your OWN Doctor about it.

Same here.. i tried

I took metformin for 3 months and had alot of negative side effects so stopped taking it. 3 years later I've ever taken berberine with each meal and every year my blood sugar has been 5.2, 5 and 5. I do low carb and cycle a 20 mile commute round trip every day to work.

Type 2 diabetic and I have been taking Metformin 500mg twice a day for 5 years now and it's working for me. Lost close to 30 lbs initially and maintaining it. No issues with my kidneys my last eGFR labs was 86. My last H1AC 5.9. My total cholesterol 156, LDL 86, HDL 46. I also eat mainly protein and fats very low carb and no sugar. I also alternate fasting to keep my body from getting use to it.
@frankyvee1, I'm glad you're finding success with your regimen! Keep it up 👍 Remember, everyone's body response differently so it's crucial to keep checking with your healthcare team.
Thank you 🍬🍭🍪😜
You're welcome @Rosemary-lg8sf! I'm glad you found the video helpful! Remember, every little bit contributes to a healthier life. Stay tuned!
I am type 2 . By taking metformin, I reduce my average glucose by 20% and cut my glucose swings (low to high) in half.
I also reduce my 24 hour insulin by 20% and my fast acting by about 75%.
It reduces my appetite, anxiety and helps me sleep.
Metformin isn’t for everyone, but it’s a good fit for me.
Good to hear.. If you are type 2.. why insulin? Just diet doesnt work for you?
@blisterbill8477, thanks for sharing your personal experience: it definitely might comfort others reading this thread. Keep tuned for more videos and tips!
@@Solo-_-.. It's a lot of type 2's on insulin.
Which is better Metformin or empagliflozin?
Good day Dr. Ergin, I have been inspired by your content regarding Diabetes. In fact, I decided to reduce my Metformin by supplementing with Berberine. I have been able to drop from 4 Metformin a day to two and am taking Berberine two times a day. This has been very promising, up until February of this year. Suddenly, my glucose readings have gone up from an average of 5.6 mmol/L to 6.7. I still am convinced that Berbernine can keep me on my mission of maintaining 5.6 or lower, but I fear that the type of Berberine I am taking (Nutrali - 1000MG) doesn't have the powerhouse combination of elements as your product. The sad news is, I can't order from your website as I live in Ontario, Canada. Do you have any suggestions on a product that comes close to yours that will help? I appreciate you for all the great information and look forward to your further videos. Regards, Eric
@EricFinkelstein4851 , I'm glad to hear my content has been beneficial to your journey. We ship internationally from our website. Best of luck to you in your journey.
Hi Doc. Told my Doctor about Berberine, she said she never heard of it, I am on 25 mg of Jardiance per day, my blood sugar is a bit high, i would like you to tell me how to go about taking Berberine or Super Berberine with Jardiance and how much and how often. Thank you in advance

Can you tell more about your diet and how you stopped taking metformin
What about Doctor prescribing this after you get off Wegovy? … Thoughts?
Interesting question, @misst3883! They are totally different medications and not even in the same class.
I love the 'ending' of each video which says:
" "Hey guys, I hope you are enjoying this channel so far, and I hope you subscribed already. If you didn't do it and if you did, watch this video right there. I think that will help you too." 😎😄😎
The last part is hilarious. Now I am used to seeing this dancing doctor.
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, @rodericksibelius8472 ! Your support means a lot. 😊 Stay tuned and stay healthy!
We can't get Benfothiamine or Super Berberine in South Africa 😢 I tried to discuss it with pharmacists. They hadn't even heard of them.
Pharmacists are rarely familiar with supplementation.
@evadeenbrickwood6682 I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you could try ordering them online at sugarmds.com. We ship internationally. Go to PubMed and print some scientific research and give to your healthcare professionals.
Metformin doesn't work for me.
Thank you.
@annettefowler4704, you're welcome! If you have any other questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask. Stay healthy!
My dr added Glimpiride to my metformin and for the first time my sugar went to low.
Did you mean glyburide?
No ...Glimpiride...as I have been prescribed both of these too 😮
Hi @gloriayouchisonbrown7734, glad to hear your sugars are dropping. But too low can be risky. Please discuss with your doctor. Stay safe!
I spelled it as written on bottle , maybe it is a derivative of glyburide
Can hormones or type 2 diabetes cause hair damage or hair loss?
@fieryeurochick3194, yes, both hormonal imbalances and uncontrolled diabetes can potentially lead to hair loss. It's important to manage your condition well to maintain overall health, including hair health.
What’s the difference between your super berberine and your 1200mg want to make sure I order the right one
Hi @Dream-mq4nj, in essence, Super Berberine includes Dihydroberberine and additional ingredients such as concentrated Ceylon Cinnamon for an enhanced effect, while our standard 1200mg is pure Berberine only. Visit our website for more detailed info. Thanks for commenting!
My daughter in law is pre diabetic an they give her metformin should she take it or not she won't find out about it more I got pre diabetic to but my doc didn't tell me what to do or eat .
Hi @beckybooher340, I strongly suggest both of you have a conversation with your doctors about your concerns. This video might give you some questions to ask: ruclips.net/video/lkYkdEwHkLM/видео.html Keep watching and take care!
I tinker around with my metformin dose all depending on how my fasting is going. Trying to get off of it
@brinderpanesar7761, I'm glad you're monitoring your blood sugar! It's always best to discuss dosage changes with your healthcare provider. Remember, moderation and regular exercise help too. Keep it up! 😊

Deigerberine is it better than berberine ? Ps let me thanks
@phyliswalters8627, yes studies indicate Dihydroberberine is better absorbed with less side effects than berberine. Sugarmds.com offers both.
Can you take super berberine more than once a day
My son is type 1 and I give it to him twice a day to avoid the synthetic insulin so much
@leestacy9800, yes, you can but berberine alone may not solve all of your glucose problems
WAT ABOUT METFORMIN XR 1GM
Hi @izaireenaisahak5999! Metformin XR has similar considerations, I'll cover that in an upcoming video. Thanks for your input!
Metformin is also linked to ED!
@danieltorres19, Thank you for your input, that's another important aspect. Please stay tuned more informative videos!
My cousin said my uncle had memory' problems taken. Metformin.
Hi @dianeoliver6108, thanks for sharing. It's important to discuss all side effects with a healthcare provider. Don't forget to share this video so we can educate more people!
Why do they always talk about type two and not type 1
Hi @Paperchacer2010, thank you for your comment. I will make sure to include more content about Type 1 diabetes in future videos. Stay tuned!
Exactly ! insulin-dependent diabetes is more intense important than type 2 !
Type 2 is entirely reversible. Type 1 is not
@@SugarMDs thank you
@@user-lp2un7rc9x That shouldn’t matter both type 1 and 2 need help or good advice and I have used some methods told for type to for my son which is type 1. I’m just saying it would help any good recommendations.
Have you done a Video addressing the subject of Type 3 Diabetes being the actual condition currently called Alzheimer’s?

What about Chromium?
Great question @poloone1000! Chromium can indeed play a role in managing blood sugar levels. More information to come.
At the end of the day, whatever you decide to choose to do, addreesing the root cause and changing your lifestyle and dietary habbits is the key. Simply relying on any drug or supplment is not enough on its own and you will liekly develop diabeties complications as long as you remain a diabetic
@MrMcfire2, absolutely agree with you😊. Lifestyle and dietary changes are vital! Stay tuned for more videos and discussions on this topic.
IVE BEEN TAKING METFORMIN FOR 4 YEARS. IT COST$ 10 FOR 3 MONTHS WORTH. YOUR SUPLEMENT COST 4 TIMES THAT FOR HALF A MONTH!
My dr won't prescribe it because I don't have diabetes but I'm over weight
@wefsux Thanks for sharing. Remember, diet and regular exercise are also key for weight management.
I don’t like any medication
Sometimes you have to, as the benefits outweigh the risks.
@franrushie.510, you're not alone; many people hesitate to take meds. The best way to manage diabetes can be through diet & exercise. But, if medicine is necessary, it's crucial to take it. Let's beat diabetes together! Check sugarmds.com for holistic remedies.
I finally tried met ER.. For 2 weeks.. felt weaker by the day/body aches ect.. And my bg did nothing.. Stopped and 2 days after.. felt better..I tried.. No thanx

Not Debunked. All Satan's candies have side effects.
@user-xq8ii1ut7s, thanks for the input! It's indeed crucial to be aware of potential side effects of any medications. Please consult a healthcare professional for advice.
Metformin users are reporting memory issues . Extreme
@Isaiah2vsMicah4, very important observation! It's always crucial to report such side effects to your doctor. Please keep in mind that an individual's reaction to medications may vary. Thanks for sharing!
