  • The Electric fan conversion will work on the 99-06 Gm trucks with the vortec v8 I’m not sure about the 6 cylinder models, if the fuse box looks the same it should be good. You will need the electric fan harness from a 03-06 Gm truck. The bottom of my fuse box in the center black squares have different color wires then urs.. for example looks like u have like 3 reds on the top right hand side and I have none.. and another thing is u have the blue wire and then next to it u have the dark green wire that u tap in to.. on mine I have a dark green wire where ur blue one is and then next to it I have two black wires where your dark green wire is..
So do I tap into the dark green one where ur blue one is or do I tap into the black ones where your dark green wire is?
And then next question if I tap into one of my two black wires where ur dark green one is which one do I tap into or would it matter?

What year is your truck? It sounds like those 2 black wires are shared ground, it’s best to test your dark green wire with a multimeter to see if it gives it 12v when the ac clutch engages and if not you can test the black wires with the meter, or you can also get the clutch wire on the compressor plug

For everyone keep in mind if youre gonna pull these out of a junkyard. ONLY 2005 and 2006 trucks have electric fans. A way to tell if the truck has electric fans is by seeing if they have a lower splitter/lip on the front bumper. Some LS or SLE models might not have a splitter

If I dont find a 2005 electric fan set to replace my old clutch fan... Any good single fan options? I already pulled the AC belt off since AC is not needed up here. A single 9 or 10 blade that pulls 12amps or less should suffice.

@@cjrciadt the 05-06 fans will work or the 07-14 Fans as well. On my Tahoe I used them off a 2010 Tahoe, they sell them new or usually can be found used in a salvage yard or market place. great instructional video. I have a 2001 Tahoe with an aftermarket set of fans. They quit working as I was towing a 5k trailer in over a 100 degres weather. Not fun. Fortunately, I pulled off and saved my engine. A friend rewired to a switch that I can turn it on and off. Saved my butt and travel plans.
Now that I have this set up, Im kind of liking the idea of a simple "on and off" from my dash with a light. I left tbe clutch fan on for cooler weather and non towing.
Question you ok? How much did you spend on the 2003 fans and the 2007 wiring and harness how time did it take you? Im asking because I only use my Tahoe for vacations. Bottom line? I may just keep it the way it is. Can you see any reason I cant just bypass all of this with a simple on and off switch?
This is not a daily driver.

It sounds like you already have it working with a toggle switch. It cost me around 300 with original fans and wiring. It takes about 1hr or less to install, took me longer filming. But I did this to my daily driver so I don’t have to worry about controlling it myself with a toggle switch the relays take care of that.

How dose your alternator handle the extra pull from the fans?

    • @MiGo713
      @MiGo713  11 месяцев назад

Like a champ it’s a High output Dc Power Alternator 370amp, but the way they are wired they don’t pull much in series mostly In the 40amp range, for brief moments it pulls the full 80 amps when everything is going like A/C and right engine temperature at idle, other than that 40 on the road with the A/C, so even with the 130amp stock alternator is ok, but of course having a high output Alternator is always good 👍🏼

I'm struggling here with the wiring. I ordered the wiring kit and relay you said to order(not a stock unit available near me)
My issue is on the 2nd relay-yellow to light blue(ac output) and the white to the green under fuse box. @@itsryanfoo If your aftermarket harness has the two trigger wires , you have to test them to see which wire color turns on both fans on low speed and use that wire to the probe switch output. Assuming they are wired like factory with ( - ) inputs.
The other wire should turn on one fan on high speed and gets connected to the A/C relay pin 87 ( - ) output triggered by the 12+ clutch wire on pin 86

@MiGo713 on the Amazon harness the white wire controls low speed, so that should go on the output side of the probe?

Low speed on the probe output and the high speed to the A/C relay output pin 87, and yes you can ground pin 85 and Pin 30 in any good location you want . If that harness is turning both fans on high speed with the 1 single wire it’s a good idea to have a high output Alternator since it will draw 80 amps each time the A/C cycles. If you find a way to make the fans cycle high from ac pressure that would be the real fix. Mine run off a tune and ac conpressor signal which isnt ideal, but works..

Have a question about this if you turn on the a/c will both fans be on constant or will it cycle on off with the clutch? Only ask cause I was a little confused when you said the wiring was too small to be on at all the time but that when the a/c turned on the the fans would kick on? Thanks and love all the content I actually traded for a Denali just cause of your channel 😆 keep up the good work

Yes the fans will cycle on and off with the clutch, they are not designed to be on constant on all the time, and Nice you have a Denali👍🏽 and Thanks!!💯

Hey, yes I don’t like the factory lead acid battery. They can explode without proper maintenance which most people don’t have time to do or forget. And so I prefer upgrading to a AGM style battery which do not require maintenance and won’t spill, they also usually have more power and don’t get damaged when drained like a standard battery, so I like Using the XS Power battery’s on my truck even though there are other AGM brands

I’m not sure, but I believe if the fuse box and wiring with pin locations and everything matches should work🤔it’s best to have the wires tested out with a multimeter

Folks if you love your truck just get a tuner and do it yourself following YT tutorials. Work that OT or wait to save up but eventually you want to tune it (beyond controlling your fans). This is amazing if you have a customer that doesn't wanna pay and you just want em off your shop lol.
