The knife itself I absolutely love! It is a super thin high performance slicer and the ergos are great in my hand but the one huge con that I have for this setup is the sheath! They've made it out of that stupid glass-filled nylon basically plastic with a bunch of fiberglass strands mixed in supposedly for added strength "which is not necessary imo) now while K390 is a very hard steel it is not harder than glass- no steel is so when you've got glass in the plastic for your sheath it literally dulls your edge apex on contact! Don't believe me, take your edge and just simply touch it to the side of your sheath and then take a close look at the apex where you made contact or if you're not afraid to sharpen your knife then take and swipe the edge across the side of it and then take a look at your edge! It won't even slice paper afterwards as your very fine edge apex is GONE I know Cold Steel has used this type of sheath forever with their horrendous "Secure-Ex" sheaths but I never ever would've figured a company like Spyderco to use it 🤷♂️🤦♂️ immediately tossed sheath in the trash and put knife in a cardboard sleeve and ordered a leather sheath for it, the sheath design and the leather strap is awesome just wish they hadn't used a material that takes your edge off on contact! 😕
Yeah the sheath is complete trash. I use it as a steak knife more than anything lately because the sheath is so inadequate. I will get around to making a leather one for it one day.
Yes but k390 is a lot tougher than S90V. The stainless attributes of S90V may be much more valuable than the extra toughness of K390. I find the edge holding of k390 to be poor and I believe it’s because of microscopic corrosion along the edge. The more I use K390 the less I like it. I have not experienced this with 15V.
@@DuhYaThink I trust his findings. I meant S90V vs K390’s toughness. The both have similar wear resistance but k390 has more toughness. 15V has a fair bit more wear resistance than S90V but similar toughness. 15V has significantly more vanadium than S90V. 9% vs 15%. I’m my experience with 15V it’s edge holding ability is substantial in comparison. I don’t have any other knife steels in my collection that out perform it. It’s truly and impressive steel. I’m hoping with another sharpening or two with K390 that the edge improves.
@@gravytrainoutdoors I’ve had good luck with K390 so far, have many models , too many to list. Sharpening is good, the edge holding and stability I totally agree with you on that. I’ve been carrying a Police 4 lw K390 serrated for a couple months and for my job it’s great, mostly abrasive materials I cut and that thing is a pocket sword. I can’t sharpen serrated blades but will just send it too Spyderco when it’s time. I sharpened an Endura 4 in k390 on a KME and the edge came out great. 10v is really similar to 15v besides vanadium contents but I like cruwear and and M4 a lot. ✌🏼
I would be worried about Moisture getting trapped under the handle scales And causing rust in the long term , unless you keep this knife for 100% dry use
Never in my life have I ever seen someone put that much butter on their steak
Hahaha you gotta try it!
Never in my life have I ever seen someone put any butter on there stake.
It’s not even melted so I thought it was cheese at first lol.
I thought it was mango 🥭.

I carry mine in a Condor Bushlore sheath daily. Bon Apitite!
Thanks for letting me know, it's not enuff.
CpmS90V should be very similar to 15V but way more stainless.

@@gravytrainoutdoors Unless Knife Steel Nerds, aka Dr.Larrin is wrong with his steel charts cpm15v and cpmS90V have identical “toughness”.
