    Really cool series of videos, love the synthwave/cyberpunk mood ! Would be nice to see a much bigger graph by recursively scanning the points to a certain depth (Without needing to scan each of them one by one). This will get something closer to the original idea of scanning the entire web and might give interessting results.
    Can't wait to see what's next on this project or other project !

    This project is super cool and quote frankly the only reason I subscribed. Please keep working on this! This could be the first VR web browser of it's kind!
    Personally I think the internet has gotten worse. We only visit the same 5 websites. There's also been a growing community of people who agree, and are trying to bring back everyone having their own personal website. This kind of web browser/internet visualization could help bring back the fun in surfing the net, especially with Apple trying to make VR mainstream. I think this visualization would make browsing the peripheral web far easier.
    TLDR: I think you could help change the internet if you finish this project

    • @8AAFFF
      @8AAFFF  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah most people kinda just stay on the same massive social media platforms
      It also hurts search engines that were built for browsing many small more personal websites.

    this is a really cool series and i would love to see it continued. despite that it would be a lot of hard work, it would be really cool to add both a web browser and steam vr support, since the current vr web browsers don't seem very interesting or prominent so far, and this would be a really cool way to do a web browser in vr.

      @@8AAFFF idea for update: automatic mode - it would scan 1 node per second, until no more not-scanned nodes, that have connection to earlier graph left
      And for physics: nodes don't fly away forever, but at least to some minimum range; the closer are dots, the closer the distance

  • @samuelthemounts
    @samuelthemounts 9 месяцев назад +35

    I love the project so far! I have three suggestions: make a 2D version, because if you want to scan most of the internet, 3D can get complex, and you can't find a website. add a feature where you can search for an already existing website and teleport to that. and maybe add a color mode where it sorts it based on the main website a link is on. lastly, if you could add settings like how far apart the nodes spread and stuff like that, the game would be a lot better. other than that, I think the game is great!

    I love the project!! I think a really cool idea would to set a specific "length" or "# of links deep" and let the program auto build the network that specific # of branches deep. Obviously this would be insane computation but it would be interesting to set a specific web page and have a map set out automatically. I personally think you should continue this project it seems like a cool series to be able to build a visual "Interlink" of websites (my suggestion for the project name).

    When I saw the previous video the idea of a videogame with these mechanics and graphics like the planets of Sebastian Lague. Essentially a walking simulator with spaceships, the main loop of the videogame would be to go around the different stellar systems (the star being the TLD, the planets being the first level paths, and moon orbits for all subsequent levels of paths) collecting "relics", like pieces of hypermedia, videos, images, music... And decorating your ship with that. The name I came up for this project was "Internaut", but since I'm probably not going to actually make the game, feel free to use it ^^

    Maaan, if you add a button for copying an url from the map, it'll be a nice tool for browsing the internet. You can actually go further and add some kind of windows displaying websites those nodes refer to.
    Damn, if no one's gonna do it, I will learn heckin' python just to implement this stuff in the project by myself.

  • @yb6485
    @yb6485 9 месяцев назад

    it's super cool how it's coming out! i always thought of something like that, although i never thougth it would be possible with 3d graphs, due to the amount of data something like that requires. You should find a way to save the nodes and how they connect, that way you would make a new kind of browser! Keep it up!
    P.S. it's not very cyberpunk but i like the name 'The Tissue', as an upgrade of the net. (cyberTissue? idk)

    1. It's difficult to rename something when it gets big, and I'm unsure if this project has surpassed this threshold. If so, stick with internet-scanner. If not, choose something , has only a , and can be . Regardless, keep the game and repo named similarly, and choose a name that doesn't conflict with other web queries [i.e. I though net-render would be a good name, but it's already a common slang in some tech industries. Though this might also be fine :)].
    2.. If you do, consider the following. First, you would need . Second, consider discord-related that could infiltrate your life and make it unnecessarily difficult. Third, of such a server and whether a less invasive service could fulfill such a role? I'm not against the discord server, but you should chew this idea down to the bone before committing to it.
    3. What is the on these added features? Are there other projects you would rather work on? For instance, I would love to see this in VR, but I don't think I would get any more insights through this medium. But, it's up to you and whoever you trust :)
    Spectacular project, keep er goin! 💯
