Hipoints are great guns for the money. I bought one when I was a young husband/ father with two toddlers and low income. Just bought a new Hipoint 45 JHP yesterday. Like it a lot. Neighbor I had 20 years ago killed a home invader with a Hipoint .380. He was HUGE and she was tiny. Worked. They are tools like a fire extinguisher . Dont need the best tool made to do the job. Better cheap gun in hand than savings in bank for a Glock etc.
I can't say enough good things about mine. I've had it for 10 years now. It needed NO "break-in" at all ... worked flawlessly right out of the box. Hollow-point, FMJ, Steel (it's like the gun was made for steel case lol), it eats everything but aluminum ... It finally bent the firing pin (bad case on one round?) somewhere about the 1,200 round mark ... I managed to bend it back by hand with a pocket knife, and it kept working the rest of the day lol :P I contacted customer support and they sent me a new firing pin immediately. BECAUSE of the pot-metal it's made out of, it is VERY rust resistant. So my JHP-45 is my glove-box companion everywhere I go ... take it out at the range once ever few months to stay proficient with it, rack the slide a few times, and make sure it's lubed, and it's good to go! Honestly, if 27 rounds of .45 ACP doesn't solve whatever problem you encounter on the daily commute, nothing will.
My JHP 45 runs fine with minimal cleaning. It is the AK-47 of .45 cal pistols. It definitely requires breaking in. But it is fun to shoot so I didn't mind the FTEs during the break-in.
@Kevin Brass these things are total trash. With over 30 under my belt, they're a damn joke. I love it when guys try to defend them like taking a 300lb bulldog chick to the prom! Lmfao!
I have the High Point 45 I like it very much it is big it is bulky but because the barrel is set in the way to the gun helps control the recoil I like it also like the 9 mm

Bought a c9 about a month ago only got 100 rounds through it. No jams and shoots good. 169.00 I'm happy with it. After another 100 if it's doing the same I'll buy the 45. Good shooting and good review of the Hi Point.
I have a couple Hi Point firearms (JHP45/4595/4095) and they are solid shooters. For example, my M&P 40 2.0 would not take steel rounds- thought I was stuck with 500 stove pipes.in my future. Instead I pulled out my HP 4095 and ripped through 50 rounds flawlessly. So I bought the 995 & 1095. Excellent info on the background

Smith and wesson.. taurus.. so ya it's not because they are inexpensive.. it's because my c9 performed 100%
I own a Hi-Point 9mm and a 45acp. Both are very reliable handguns. They are like a moped and a fat girl, both are fun to ride until your friends catch you. Seriously, i would trust my life with any Hi-Point, I haven’t heard of any of their products that were unreliable. As far as my concealed carry weapon, I carry a SCCY cpx-1, because they are compact reliable and again inexpensive. You don’t need high dollar firearms, I have a gun safe full of them.
Yep, they definitely have a break in period. I had a C9 and had several malfunctions when it was new. Had to adjust the feed lips a few times to get it to feed properly. Then it worked okay but I think it was extremely heavy for a carry gun. The Zymac slide makes it heavy so I sold it and got another make of 9mm.
I have this gun. Love it. Bought another today for my truck. I also have the Hi Point 9mm. Price ? I make 6 digits a year . I'd pay the same price that the gun barrons charge for the expensive ( mostly NOT made in America ) guns.
People always complain about the take down process of a Hi Point. Well I own a Ruger LC9s and it also has a pin you have to take out. People always say how ugly a Hi Point is...... I don't see it that way. Yes, it is large and it is heavy, but I don't think it is ugly. I can buy a JHP new for $159 at Rural King. You just can't beat that a 45 caliber for $159.
I have the 9,40,45 and 9 carbine all run as should and eat and spit out anything I feed the including reloads ! Cheap fun for the whole family, just sayin :)
Hipoint pistols work. They shoot to point of aim. I've owned all of the models including the carbine. Never had a single failure to fire. Not one. I forgot, I did not own the 380.never saw a need for a 9mm short. I sold mine off for one reason or another. I needed cash. Lol. Hipoint ate awkward and ugly. But they work! The customer service is second to none!
I'm impressed for a $200 pistol that comes with a single, 9 round mag. I prefer the .45ACP for "put your attacker on his ass quick because it's life or death" protection. I've been looking for another nightstand gun in .45ACP because I don't want my Glock 21 ( or any of my good, more expensive guns ) to be in evidence for a year or more while they determine whether me shooting a home invader(s) was justified. With extra mags going for $16-$17 each, since I want at least 2 reloads, this looks to be a solid choice at a good price. Most rounds into 1 ragged hole at 15 yards ( longer distance than I would realistically use this gun for as a home defense gun ) on that first paper target was impressive, 100 rounds back to back with no malfunctions with cheap ammo is impressive for a $200 .45 ( I use mostly Wolf and Red Army standard in my AKs and they always function perfectly ). Yeah, it's a big, ugly, clunky, heavy gun and not a carry pistol, but it seems to work and, if I have to use it, I'm not out $600 until I get my gun back from evidence. Would you ( or anyone that has experience with this gun ) stake your life on this pistol. I hear lots of good things about them, except from snobbish guys that buy some really nice guns and can't hit shit with them because they don't know how to shoot, they load them and put them in a sock drawer without much range time. I have really good, expensive Glocks, Sig Saurs, AKs, etc....... as well, but I look at performance for it's intended task. Since this would be used at close range indoors, this seems to work. Thoughts before I rush and buy one, anybody?
Definitely, although I also keep a 16 and 12 gauge around for that lol. I have one of these, it's even an old first gen jhp and it has no issues, just do NOT use cheap ammo. But some high quality high pressure ammo. (high points are almost built strictly for high pressure ammo)
But for $200 or less this is basically the top of the line option outside of a cheap home defense shotgun. (Although apparently they recently came out with a 10mm of you prefer that caliber, which may be better for a highpoint tbh)
@@TheRealB1gA If it was just a range gun the c9 will work better because the cost of 9mm ammo is about half that of 45 ammo if it is house gun then the 45 all the way
Had to down vote this video because you had a few errors in your data. No loaded chamber indicator, JHP (45acp) mag capacity is 9 rounds Stallard manufacturing went out of business in 2000, but yes the S stood for metal frames. While yes you can modify/replace the mag latch to run 1911 mags, they have more gap in the well compared to the more rectangular HP mags that contribute to malfunctions, no mention of how you were shooting, from a bench, standing unsupported Etc.. Other than that good video & good shooting. Thanks for posting Sir. 👍
Mine will take 9 in the mag. And 1 in the chamber check it out. Never had a problem with it. And I use wolf steel. Great gun for the money. I think 10 rounds are not bad at all. When new they will jam first round cus of the grease then will be fine.
i bought hi point 40 sw back around 1995. it originally holds 8+ rds. i bought a 10 rd new hi point mag but it dont work. the company changed design ive been told so i got my$ back and i get to keep the new magazine. for sale now.$10.
so glad you didnt do stupid shit like drop it in the mud etc... snobs only do that cause they know hi points function well. I have the 45 pistol & carbine and would feel perfectly fine if i had to go to war with them. I routinely out shoot friends with so called higher end guns. they get mad but have no excuses
I got one I love it had problems with it I tweaked the mag lips haven't had a problem since. Very accurate I keep mine in my bed stand also and my favorite saying is if I run out of bullets I can club someone to death with it. It was my first semiautomatic pistol I bought I now own a Sig P365 also. It does also have a mag safety won't fire if there is no mag in it I like that because I can keep a round in the chamber then all I got to do is slap in the mag flick off the safety and I'm ready to rock don't have to rack the slide.
Well I'm glad that you mentioned the cult magazine thing I didn't mentioned that to people I'm thinking about buying one of these also I didn't hear in one video a guy used a airsoft Light and Laser setup and apparently you fit on there but he had to get an extra small one or something that could be something to look into but I don't know I'm surprised I actually don't make this in Chrome
I don't know why hi points get such a bad rap. I got a 1095ts and it love it. Its reliable, its pretty accurate, and it cost less than $450.00. And... It has a lifetime warranty. What more can you ask for? Hi point USA for life baby.
The .380 and 9mm are prone to feeding issues. There are videos on RUclips on how to correct the problem. However, every JHP45 owner i know(6) have had zero feeding issues. The .45 will cycle anything you load into the magazine. Awesome truck/home defense gun for the budget minded.
@@ihatefords1000 Not exactly true. The 45 and 40 I currently own came new from the factory with polished feed ramps. My 9's did not. I called HP and asked why some are factory polished and some not. They told me they polish the feedramps during test firing if it is needed to make that gun reliable. I've had many HP's over the years and have never had to polish a feedramp to make one reliable.
I have a Hi-point 45 but the magazine is all metal and releases from the bottom lever on the end of the handle I guess it's an older model because I haven't seen another like it anywhere, I'm having a hard time finding more clips for this gun anyone know where I can get them?
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 I just found out the story behind my Hi-point did some looking around on google , and found out its a Hi Point / Haskell m-JS-45 45 ACP pistol and I guess the Haskell models come with the clip that looks like a 1911 pistol clip
It works well. It's heft makes it light shooting and low recoil. Much less snappy than my Glock 21. However, I don't like it's single stack and only 9 rounds. Also, the accessory rail sucks. You can't use common flashlights with it.
I bought one last week fr $140...100 rounds flawlessly and is just as accurate as my Glock 43 9mm...ugly as sin but it is accurate and eats any kinds of ammo
I don't see why people say it's ugly. ARs are ugly as hell, but they have a lot of stupid fans. I am looking to buy one of these, actually but right now, they are hard to find and a good bit more expensive than they were. Still reasonable enough though, when you can find one. I have not been able to find any place that has them in stock, neither locally or online, the closest I came was 40 one state over, but by the time you pay the shipping to a local dealer and the fees for them handling the sale, it ups the price substantially and I'm not in love with the 40 round anyway My way of thinking, go with a 38 special or a 45, the 40 is a compromise and compromises suck. Definition of a compromise in most cases is nobody gets what they want. To a married man it means the wife gets what she wants and you get to pay for it. lol
sorry but that is not a loaded chamber indicator. it is basically the part that the rear of the slide slides on. it rides in the channel that holds the firing pin which doubles as the extractor and the firing pin/ejector spring. the front of the slide rides the barrel.
That was a good trade. To be fair though, you ever need parts for that SAR9 (gun parts do wear) good luck getting them from Turkey 🇹🇷 The HP, you just call them up & the parts show up in your mailbox (often free of charge).
That's a locking lug , not a chamber indicator. Unless it moves and it shouldn't, it's sedentary and should not move. But loved the eye candy. Getting 2 today. Very inexpensive and likeable.
It is not a true chamber indicator yes but you can only feel it when a round is chambered so that is how you can check if it is loaded. Glad you were able to find a couple of these fine handguns with the things being the way they are. They have been as hard to find as he's teeth thanks to Biden
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 Thanks, and to me, they are beautiful. If it's the zombie apex, it'll get you out of Dodge. lol. I love all inexpensive and archaic gems that go boom, and can be utilized especially in worse case scenarios. Also, my old girlfriend pawned mine and years later I lost another to pawn, and swore when I get them again, I will never barter my safety again away. This Armageddon, this democrat apocalypse, will never ever deter me again from guns and ammo being provided for my family and generations to come. So, I am waiting now for two's approval in Virginia on a busy Sunday and will pick them up tomorrow. They are tough as nails like I remember and wo to tyrannical adversaries, because it works that good. Also, great, easy service from the company helps. But believe it or not, that was only from the 40 carbine years ago too. Once fixed, spray with WD40 and shoot all day long. WD40 it again the next day it shot even better. Phenomenal. That 40SW carbine was tough as nails too.
Yes it does hold 9 rounds you are correct. but the magazines work better loaded to eight rounds as you really have to fight to get that 9th round in the magazine. As for the indicator you may be right, but I am not sure, I can tell you that when you chamber a round the little pin in the back pops out some and you can run your finger over it to feel it when the gun is not loaded you can not feel the little pin as it is flush with the back up of the slide.
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 Take the gun apart and you will see that part doesn't have a pin in it that pops out, it is called a slide retainer, it holds the slide down, the only pin that goes through it is the slide retainer pin, it's the one you take out to disassemble the gun. I have the same gun with 3 mags and they all work fine with 9 rounds.
I thought a blowback pistol needed to be confined to the smaller calibers... a 45ACP would be 2.5 pounds! Hi-Point did it anyway. Sharpen the slide and use it as a wood maul!
@@TheDanoid51 wow you got lucky, that's the pre-covid price. I had to pay 100 more than that. However, now it's the ammo that is a problem, it's so inconsistent, I never know where it's going to hit.

That’s the ONLY thing that will fit that rail???? Hold my beer
"Beat em' to death!" I'm dying with laughter!!! LOL
so glad you didnt do stupid shit like drop it in the mud etc... snobs only do that cause they know hi points function well. I have the 45 pistol & carbine and would feel perfectly fine if i had to go to war with them. I routinely out shoot friends with so called higher end guns. they get mad but have no excuses
i love it it shoots smooth
I got one I love it had problems with it I tweaked the mag lips haven't had a problem since. Very accurate I keep mine in my bed stand also and my favorite saying is if I run out of bullets I can club someone to death with it. It was my first semiautomatic pistol I bought I now own a Sig P365 also. It does also have a mag safety won't fire if there is no mag in it I like that because I can keep a round in the chamber then all I got to do is slap in the mag flick off the safety and I'm ready to rock don't have to rack the slide.
thanks sir
Will keeping the hi point jhp 45 mag loaded make the mag spring weak?
I leave mine loaded all the time and it does not effect it at all
Very good video. Thankyou
I like the magazine is all steel looks nice
It actually has “9” round magazines, & that IS NOT a live chamber indicator on the rear of the pistol.
Where did you get the extra magazine for $15?
I don't know why hi points get such a bad rap. I got a 1095ts and it love it. Its reliable, its pretty accurate, and it cost less than $450.00. And... It has a lifetime warranty. What more can you ask for? Hi point USA for life baby.
someone showed me one, he liked his, I dont prefer the size profile of them , but again he liked his , preference i guess
Just sand the feed ramp..and your good.
Good advice
Thank you.
Do not sand the feed ramps, it's not necessary
Are you a noob or what
Thanks for not bashing HP like the gun snobs do. But what do U mean “it’s butt ugly”? It resembles a Walther!
I have a Hi-point 45 but the magazine is all metal and releases from the bottom lever on the end of the handle I guess it's an older model because I haven't seen another like it anywhere, I'm having a hard time finding more clips for this gun anyone know where I can get them?
Yea I have not seen one like that either. It may be the european model
I'm thinking the bad guy would have bled out pretty fast
I'm new at this so you telling me once you put the clip in and slide it back and a bullet goes into the chamber you then can fire off all ten rounds.
Not all at once you have to pull the trigger each time it is a semi auto not full auto thanks for watching
"Clip"?
If I really needed it, I’d rather have a Hi-Point in my hand then a Glock on layaway any day.
Get a job
To a married man it means the wife gets what she wants and you get to pay for it. lol
Awesome
Dependable, accurate and inexpensive! Because shooting twice is silly.
"It's butt ugly" Poor things got a mother.
😂 very good lol
sorry but that is not a loaded chamber indicator. it is basically the part that the rear of the slide slides on. it rides in the channel that holds the firing pin which doubles as the extractor and the firing pin/ejector spring. the front of the slide rides the barrel.
Ok good to know thanks
Traded my hipoint jcp 40 cal in for a Sar9 best transaction ever lol
I’ve never understood the concept of an ugly gun. How do we determine when a gun is pretty?
1:20 H-P uses firing pin for ignition not a hammer. What's advantage of modifying
mag release to allow 1911 mags instead of using factory mags?
1911 mags tend to be higher quality.
1911 mags are way easier to find and cheaper. The Hi-Point 45 mag is $20.00 you can find 1911 mags at gun shows for $5.00-$10.00
what stormy says but with that you can also get the 1911 drum mag.
RELIABILITY!!!
That one dollar Amazon flashlight says it all
That's a SEXY gun. What is it?
Great review
Trigger pull for the 45, and 40 cal
The magazine actually holds 9 rounds, and that "thing" on the back is not a loaded chamber indicator.
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 the springs in the JHP mags are weak to me. No reason not to load the them to capacity IMO.
Hipoint mags are definitely the weakest link in the firearm.....Thing Meister catch and 1911 mags makes this gun ready for home defense rotation
I thought a blowback pistol needed to be confined to the smaller calibers... a 45ACP would be 2.5 pounds! Hi-Point did it anyway. Sharpen the slide and use it as a wood maul!
Is 2 lbs unloaded
your pricing is out of date. They've jumped up in price since the beer virus started. IF I could find them for around 200, I'd buy two.
Just picked one up brand new for 150 out in Montana.
@@TheDanoid51 wow you got lucky, that's the pre-covid price. I had to pay 100 more than that. However, now it's the ammo that is a problem, it's so inconsistent, I never know where it's going to hit.
July / 2022 local hole in the wall shop here in Georgia (literally 20’x20’) that does more volume that Academy Sports. Cabela’s, & Bass Pro combined had a special on them - $120.00! I bought 2. Should have bought 3!
I can't believe you doing a review on a Hotpoint that's been out for 10 years
And your point is, Hi point has sold a bazillion of these over the years and the gun just works, it's a good thing you are no gun expert as this gun is used by a lot of folks to protect house and home and familiy. I have one loaded in a biometric safe next to my bed on the nightstand. oh for a gun that has been around for 10 years you clicked on the review to read it... Just saying Haters gotta hate I guess
nice!
Hi Point are ugly as all get out but if it was all I could afford, I would buy it all day long.
I'm to afraid of loosing fingers to try it.
now they'll run you about 250 new, if you can find one. I had to look for months to find one.
This pandemic made every guns value go up, no matter the brand or how ugly they are 🤦🏻
@@d2nasty696 I don't see why people say it's ugly, I really don't. an AR is ugly as hell to me.

Would you rather...
Have a Hi-Point in the evidence locker with case # tattooed on slide and frame, if you ever see it again.
Or that Gucci Sig h&k CZ 1911 desert eagle or glock race gun (you know the one you typically save for so long to get) in that same evidence locker with the same new tattoos.
Same scenario...
Your prize MP5, or a hi-point carbine?
Just my opinion
Useful IS as useful DOES.
HI-Point
Awake from amnesia
Research MudFloods
It's not even that ugly...
Going through. hard times money wise so problay will purchase a hi point 45. Seems dependable.thanks for the info
@Eloy Padilla....did you get one? I have one and a ruger American pistol in 45acp....Both run with 0 issues Hi Ppint 45 is a good gun just got their 10mm Pistol....cant wait to shoot it i like my Hi Points!😃
